Chapter 959: Chapter 758: Traffic Accident

Huai Shi said goodbye.

So, it was goodbye.

Although some things happened that no one wanted to see, it began and ended in a rush, at least it could be considered a fulfilling conclusion.

In the office, watching those two Russian Federation men leave, Huai Shi raised his hand and answered the call from Tobio.

”The Russian Federation men went to see you too?”

Huai Shi laughed, ”They sat for half an hour before leaving, isn’t it a bit late for you to call now?”

”That’s why I called you after knowing they left.”

Tobio said, ”Be careful lately; before the Order of Nothingness, local conflicts might start to erupt. You’re standing out so much lately; if I were the Russian Federation or the Iron King Party, I’d resolve you first.”

”I thought you’d blame me for humiliating the envoy and stealing your thunder.”

”It’s fine; I just cursed out the Iron King Party people too, had a vent, and don’t mind.” Tobio magnanimously brushed it off.

”Offending both the K Party and Iron King Party?” Huai Shi asked, ”Are you serious?”

”What else? Does kneeling down guarantee peace and tranquility?” Tobio sighed softly, ”The old man would indeed kneel, and kneel again, but kneeling is no longer useful, Huaizhi-kun... be careful, I’m feeling uneasy lately.”

”Hm?”

”I always feel that things are not this simple.”

Tobio sighed irritably, ”Ultimately, it’s really hard for a Hybrid to live in Yingzhou’s world, even if it’s committing crimes... but he can’t even live committing crimes anymore?”

Huai Shi fell silent.

After a long pause, he said, ”There will always be a way, won’t there?”

”Who knows, take it one day at a time, that’s it.”

Tobio shook his head, said no more, just finally reminded, ”Akasaki was previously attacked by the Angry Ji Group. Be cautious, bring more hands when going in and out.”

”I understand, don’t worry.”

After hanging up, Huai Shi turned back to look at the planning chart on the wall.

Water company, fresh market, pharmaceutical chain...

All grand visions were interrupted amidst the turmoil, even the barely formed Huaizhi Gang almost fell apart. This world is always so cruel; it’s tough to create something beautiful, but destroying it is all too easy.

Maybe Ai Qing is right in disagreeing with me.

From the start, she knew that I was wasting time...

In the silence, Huai Shi tilted his head, about to light a cigarette, when he heard a knock on the door.

As he spoke of coming in, someone pushed the door open, still in the suit ironed god knows how many times, the old man adjusted his glasses and showed an awkward smile.

”Takuma?”

Huai Shi’s movement halted, holding the lighter, dumbstruck: ”Why haven’t you left?”

He immediately became nervous: ”Is there a problem with the ship?”

”No, the ship to White City sailed on time, the old lady at home went ahead with the son-in-law’s family, didn’t notice I sneaked back.”

Takuma smiled embarrassedly: ”My daughter seems quite angry too; she just called and scolded me. So awkward at this age...but I really can’t help it. Knowing it’s that guy from Yamashita handling the accounts doesn’t let me rest easy. That guy never issues invoices when dining out! Besides, after the Order of Nothingness, someone has to do the accounting and tax avoidance, right? What if others embezzle; you never check the reports, Boss Huaizhi, need someone reliable to keep an eye...”

Huai Shi was stunned, said nothing.

Takuma hesitated, until he was unsure what to say.

After a long while, he raised his hands to comb his graying hair, bowed, and solemnly announced: ”I’m back, Affiliate!”

After the long shock, Huai Shi couldn’t help but laugh loudly, reached out to embrace him, patting his back vigorously: ”Welcome back, Takuma!”

No news could be more delightful than this.

.

.

Takuma’s return injected a dose of morale into the currently low-spirited Huaizhi Gang.

Even the forty-seven-year-old finance director was already planning to roll up sleeves and fight with everyone else, calming the previously confused and uneasy members considerably.

Instead, Takuma began to feel headaches and distress.

Having been gone only half a day, Yamashita messed up the accounts, entries didn’t match at all, angering Takuma until his eyes turned red, starting to verify receipts and invoices with Yamashita one by one.

Even through the door, Yamashita’s anguished roars could be heard.

”Isn’t it just twenty? Not two million! Fine, I’ll pay out of pocket! Here, find me ninety-nine hundred and eighty-eight!”

”You brat, don’t underestimate accounting!”

Takuma slammed the table and yelled, ”I’ll give you two million; make this twenty dollars balance! Also, why is the group’s lunch being accounted as entertainment expenses? Do you even know what meal subsidy means, fool!”

”I didn’t graduate middle school, don’t know, come hack me, come on!”

...

In short, it was very lively.

The members also breathed a sigh of relief.

Though those who stayed weren’t swayed by the number of those leaving, after a day of oppressive atmosphere, they astonishingly felt a sense of ease.

In the shadow of the Order of Nothingness, about twenty people exited, a number less than Huai Shi anticipated, though he hadn’t counted those padding the number in the periphery.

Huaizhi Gang’s official members total, at best, only over two hundred.

Hardly counts as a medium-sized enterprise.

However, managing it is still fairly convenient. With the Buried Sacred Place to constantly check goodwill and loyalty levels, there’s no need to worry about second fifths. Any second fifths coming to the Huaizhi Gang have basically already been turned by Huai Shi.

As for those who are truly sinful, they can only suddenly be afflicted by a strange Abyss disease and sent on a ten-day tour in the ICU.

With the blessing of the large group, during the Order of Nothingness, I can minimize losses to the greatest extent.

When the time comes, after all this is over, I can start planning again...

Just as he was leaning back in his chair, contemplating the next steps, he heard the noise downstairs suddenly pause for a moment, followed by heavy footsteps. Ueno didn’t even have time to knock before pushing the door open and entering.

He looked tense.

”Boss, it’s not good, you should quickly watch TV!”

”What’s wrong? Why so suddenly tense?”

Huai Shi fumbled around for the remote for a while, turned on the TV, and was about to ask which channel, when he saw the cooking show on Kyoto TV Station shudder, then an emergency news broadcast interrupted.

Scene of a major traffic chain accident in Tanbo District, Kyoto.

Under the overpass, thick smoke rose from the overturned oil tanker. As the helicopter swooped down, there was another violent explosion. The flowing gasoline carried flames, spreading around, igniting the nearby houses.

Fire trucks were continuously spraying water columns, unable to extinguish the burning flames.

Crying and shouting could be heard, a child rescued from the fire site was still calling out for his parents, but amidst the chaos, there was no response.

And in the camera footage, Huai Shi saw the wreckage of a car beside the burning oil tanker under the dense smoke.

And the Alliance’s logo on it.

—That was Tobio’s car!

Yesterday, he drove that car to visit the General, and today it was hit and exploded by an oil tanker?

What about Tobio?

That old man who was making calls to me half an hour ago?

With the vibration of the phone, an email from Akasaki Makoto popped up.

[President attacked, rush to Kahara]

Huai Shi cursed, jumped up from the chair, grabbing the coat from the hanger: ”Ueno, start the car, we’re going to the hospital.”

Ueno didn’t dawdle, briskly took the car keys to start the car.

In less than a minute, a car sped out from the back alley of the Huaizhi Corporation, heading straight for Kahara Hospital, which was built and operated by the Alliance.

On the way, Huai Shi got through to Akasaki’s phone.

”What’s the situation??”

”Oil tanker collision, fortunately, the President was cautious, accompanied by Mr. Tenda, otherwise, he might have been in danger. But he was still caught in the explosion shock, currently undergoing surgery... specific condition is still unclear.”

”Who did it?”

”It should be the K Party’s doing. Once those Russian Federation people find the gentle approach doesn’t work, they’ll resort to tearing faces and staging explosive attacks.” Akasaki repressed his anger and reminded, ”Be careful, since they’ve launched an offensive, they surely won’t stop there.”

”I know.”

Huai Shi raised his eyes and said, ”I already see it.”

In the reflection of the rearview mirror, suddenly four motorcycles accelerated fiercely, their riders donned motorcycle jackets and black helmets.

Behind the smoky visors, malice twisted savagely.

Ignoring the busy urban surroundings, the person in front pulled a handgun from their pocket, repeatedly pulling the trigger at the car.

Unfortunately, this car picked up from Old Man Tobio was fully bulletproof, rendering this small-caliber handgun utterly useless.

Soon thereafter, someone twisted the throttle, speeding up to rush forward, pulling an axe from a backpack, vigorously hacking at the car window beside Huai Shi.

Huai Shi glanced indifferently, then looked away.

Soon, Ueno sharply turned the steering wheel, the whole heavy car squeezed to the right, directly pinning the charging person against the wall.

In the severe collision and scraping, he was nowhere to be seen.

The speeding car jolted abruptly, as if running over something, behind it, a rapidly tumbling and spinning motorcycle crashed at the tunnel entrance, erupting into a ball of flames.

Yet, fearlessly, attackers still surged forward, the fastest one raising a hand to take out a heavy object from the backpack, with a suction cup, raising a hand to stick it to the car window.

Then the car window suddenly shattered.

The drummer moved, shattering the heavy bulletproof glass from the inside instantly, next, a hand reached out, like an iron vice, clamped onto the wrist holding the bomb.

Five fingers slowly tightened.

Amidst the crisp sound of bones cracking, the attacker let out a horrific scream, struggling desperately, yet the limp wrist couldn’t shake off the grip.

In fact, he began to be dragged along...

”A hundred years to share the same ride, since fate brought us here, why not take a free ride together.”

Through the cracked helmet visor, Huai Shi appraised the face outside the window gradually distorting in terror, smiling: ”Ueno, speed up.”

Therefore, Ueno grinned viciously, floored the accelerator.

The car’s speed began to climb.

Along with the attacker...

The screech of wind outside the window carried hoarse screams, the attacker’s motorcycle beneath rocked violently, unable to keep pace with the increasing speed.

At last, losing control, it slipped out from under the attacker, rolling and crashing against the tunnel wall, exploding.

Yet the warm and pleasant hitchhike had just begun!
