Chapter 752: Chapter 611: Every Stick Has Its Own Length, Every Inch Has Its Own Shortness_1

Huai Shi, no, Lady SuZi had never been so moved by the end of a journey before.

If she hadn’t been afraid that Yuan Zhao would imagine something weird, Huai Shi couldn’t help but want to wipe away two drops of happiness tears from the remnants of the cataclysm.

But at last, she had freaking made it.

The moment the car door opened, Lady SuZi stood up and, carrying her bag, dashed towards customs. She couldn’t care less about possibly exposing her identity anymore, even if it meant walking right into the lion’s den.

She couldn’t take it anymore.

Meanwhile, Yuan Zhao was still stunned in place, watching Lady SuZi’s retreating figure for a long time before he murmured with appreciation, ”As expected of Miss Huaizhi, even her shy manner is so adorable...”

Next to him, the deputy principal, who had just disembarked, staggered slightly and turned back to glare at him. His lips parted, but in the end... he said nothing.

”HMPH!” Yuan Zhao puffed out his chest, looking at the disheveled retreat of the ’Black Evil Force’ and smiled a smile of justice.

He felt that his Dongxia Genealogy license had become a bit more vibrant.

Then, he realized... Where had SuZi, no, Miss Huaizhi gone?

「」

”I just can’t live like this anymore.”

Huai Shi sighed, looking down at the mirror in the restroom to see a completely unfamiliar teenage girl looking back at him. The thought of that being himself gave him a headache.

That awful Tong Ji, couldn’t she have made him look uglier? Why did she have to make him look so pretty?

Allowing her to disguise him from the get-go was a mistake!

Also, that stinky little sister Amber definitely needed to pay more, or else his great sacrifice would be wasted!

After cursing Luo Su, that Old Turtle who only wanted to watch the fun, tens of thousands of times in his heart, Huai Shi opened his small purse and began to reapply makeup amidst Beelzebub’s mocking laughter.

Had he not taken proper care of himself recently? He felt he even had forehead lines...

More than ten minutes later, he came to realize that something wasn’t quite right.

His thoughts were slipping too severely!

He felt that continuing like this would transform him into something strange, and he had to change his image.

After pondering for a moment, Huai Shi deftly braided his hair into two unsophisticated pigtail braids and took out a pair of tacky-looking glasses from his backpack to wear on the bridge of his nose.

Looking up, for some reason, he felt even worse!

After fussing around for half a day, he could only dejectedly return to his original look, sighed, and walked out of the restroom.

It was only when he heard the foreign languages around him and saw those little enticing zines publicly for sale at the station’s newsstands, which made the Ravens’ hearts beat, that he realized he had arrived in Yingzhou.

The inside of the station was quite modern. Sublimators were coming and going, quickly merging into the flow of people at the upper-level Kyoto Station and then dispersing in all directions.

As one of the major transportation hubs between the Current Circumstances and the Border, it was far from deserted, with a surging crowd of people.

However, as he moved along, Huai Shi instinctively detected the eerie gaze coming from behind him and that discordant following step among the multitude of footsteps.

Someone was tracking him.

He had been targeted right after getting off the train.

His steps faltered for a moment. Then he suddenly took a detour, not heading towards the area combined with the Ivory Tower but casually wandering among the shops within the station.

He led the tracker, who thought he was well-hidden within the crowd, on a merry chase.

With the insight and Ability from the Mirror of Nothingness, Huai Shi was quite sensitive to any emotion directed at him, especially those pretend-casual glances cast from behind.

If one didn’t know how to suppress their own emotions, then even the most careful gaze could trigger changes in Huai Shi’s Source Substance.

In the crowd, the white-dressed teenage girl suddenly halted.

The crowd at the crossroads briefly congregated. When they dispersed, her figure had vanished without a trace.

A backpacker dressed as a traveler paused, took off his sunglasses to look, but couldn’t find her anywhere. His brow furrowed.

He didn’t rush to check but instead took two steps back and turned to leave.

In a slightly dark corner, Huai Shi’s unnoticeable presence emerged.

This was the innate concealment advantage of a Yin Soul in the shadows.

After two advancements and enhancements, the Buried Sacred Place could create an effect almost like invisibility even in slightly dim light. With his concealment skills, countering such tracking was hardly a problem.

But Huai Shi was more curious: Who was tracking him?

Had he been exposed right after getting off the train?

That didn’t seem right. If it were people from the Yingzhou Jurisdiction Bureau, they would have confronted him directly by now, taking photographs and asking him to cooperate with an investigation. There was no need for sneaky tracking.

He had the Book of Fate with him. Whoever tried to divine his location would only conclude that he was currently in London undergoing investigation and education. The strategy room of Yingzhou probably wouldn’t waste too much manpower on this issue after having deported him.

So, who would harbor malicious intentions towards the now weak and pitiable Miss Huaizhi?

He followed along.

But he found that the backpacker, after several turns, actually entered a men’s restroom!

Had he been discovered?

He hesitated for a moment.

「」

Elsewhere, the backpacker who had entered the restroom alertly checked the mirror above the washbasin to ensure no one was following. Then he pushed up his sunglasses, washed his hands casually, and stood before a urinal, whistling.

Behind him, an old cleaning man hummed a tune while mopping the floor.

”Section Chief, my surveillance target may have noticed me,” the backpacker said, looking straight at the decorative painting on the tiles without turning his head.

”Huaizhi Sushi?”

The old cleaning man paused his sweeping, frowning. ”Really a problem? According to the introduction on the exchange group roster, how could a female student here for translation have such skills?”

”Definitely a problem,” replied the backpacker. ”Did the Intelligence Section check her background?”

”They say she’s a wealthy young lady from the Kansai region, huh, as weak as a chicken? A bunch of wastes who sit in the office all day and can’t work without a search engine...”

The old cleaning man grumbled in displeasure. ”I’ll report to raise her alert level. Your mission continues. Switch surveillance targets... Remember, the Ivory Tower needs to be on high alert; don’t mess up or act rashly.”

The implication was, if you can’t handle it, just slack off appropriately. We’re all here to muddle through for a paycheck; don’t stir up some mess that gets us killed in the line of duty.

Anyway, once you leave the station, it’s no longer their responsibility. Let the elites from 1st handle the rest.

”Okay.”

Feeling the care from his superior, the backpacker couldn’t help but laugh, and then frowned. ”Also, who came up with this crappy method of meeting in the bathroom?”

”Me.”

The section chief took off his cap and, scratching his greying hair, also stepped up to the urinal, sighing. ”When you get old, you frequently get an urgent need to pee and can’t hold it in. Sometimes, I can stand for ages and still can’t pee... Being near the toilet is a little better for my bladder. Speaking of which, Yamada, why can’t you pee?”

”I get nervous with someone next to me!”

The backpacker Yamada rolled his eyes involuntarily. ”I told you not to drink with Honma and the others, Chief. You’re getting on in years; when will you ever learn to give up?”

”HMPH, I’m still young!”

The section chief huffed, looking down disdainfully at his subordinate’s unseemly behavior. ”Look, Yamada, see how mighty my torrent is compared to your limp water pistol!”

Yamada wanted to roll his eyes.

”I’m not looking; it’s too hard on the eyes!”

Though he said that, the sound of gushing water next to him made him freeze. Disbelief held him for a moment. Wait a minute, that’s just unreasonable!

In the end, he couldn’t help but shift his gaze to the side.

He saw the figure standing between them.

He froze in place.

Not knowing when she had appeared.

A pure and cute teenage girl, with a slightly sweet aura, was standing shoulder to shoulder with them.

Lifting her white skirt, whistling contently as she relieved herself.

Swinging proudly.

The old janitor and the backpacker stood rooted to the spot, mouths agape, but unable to utter a word or make a sound.

Not until the sound of water gradually ceased and the white skirt was lowered once more, hiding the indescribable horror back into the forbidden darkness.

Then, she raised her hands and, with great affection, placed them on the shoulders of the two men, reassuring with heartfelt earnestness, ”To each his own strengths and shortcomings, there’s nothing to be ashamed of, as long as it does the job, right?”

No one responded.

Underneath the deadly poison, the two men, on the verge of waxen paralysis, remained with their mouths hanging open. Their pupils shook uncontrollably, unable to conceal their panic.

Then, the girl who had appeared so abruptly asked in a deep manly voice, ”Deer’s Sing Hall?”

Yamada’s pupils frantically shifted back and forth.

As if in denial.

She thought for a moment and asked again, ”Seat?”

The pupils continued to sway.

As expected.

After all, they were just two rookie Sublimators, one at Second Stage and the other at First Stage. They didn’t seem like they came from the violent departments within the Yingzhou Phylogeny.

”Could it be the MPD?”

This time, the two secret policemen from the Kyoto Police Department finally began to blink frantically.

”Good, thank you for your cooperation.”

Miss Huaizhi nodded, turned to the sink, washed her hands, and then said over her shoulder, ”Although I don’t know why you’re following me, as a price for tailing a beautiful girl like me, please enjoy a nice two-month sleep...”

Saying so, he looked back with a smile. ”Sweet dreams.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the two men collapsed onto the ground, falling unconscious amid high fevers.

And Miss Huaizhi, shouldering her backpack once more, walked out the door.

Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly in the crowd.

She was beginning to grasp the tension of the situation.

Even the Kyoto Police Department had started to monitor the border station. It seems that Yingzhou was indeed not so peaceful lately...

”Miss Huaizhi?”

A surprising voice rang out suddenly.

After searching for her in the crowd for so long, when Yuan Zhao finally turned around, he was shocked to see the woman who had preoccupied his thoughts... coming out of the men’s restroom.

The joyous smile froze on his face.

Miss Huaizhi...?

You’ve been bamboozled, you silly little brother. Huai Shi smiled and waved goodbye to him, turning to walk away.

Yuan Zhao was left standing there, dumbfounded. He looked back and forth between her retreating figure and the men’s restroom, dazed. What on earth was going on?

Why would...

No, it must be because the women’s restroom was full!

Yes, that’s it! Of course! I never realized Miss Huaizhi was so unpretentious and adaptable; she’s really amazing!

With hope in his heart, Yuan Zhao entered the restroom.

He looked down... and saw the two men on the floor.

The smile slowly faded.

One, a dark-skinned husky man, and the other, a sleazy-looking old man, now lay limply on the ground, their faces flushed, clothes disheveled... And he remembered the satisfied smile on Miss Huaizhi’s lips.

For some reason, tears just couldn’t help falling down.

On this day, fifteen-year-old Yuan Zhao had an unfortunate initiation into the Dark World that, supposedly, only grown-ups knew about.

At that moment, a crackling sound echoed in the chest of the young boy.

Yuan Zhao’s heart broke.
