Chapter 571: Chapter 479: Strange Letter_2

”Just because you have the college entrance exams and you’re planning to cram for your revision, everything has to stop?”

His face turned red with rage.

He didn’t know where the courage came from, but he desperately wanted to ask the Beheading King of Jinling before him, Are you sick or something?

”What else then!” Huai Shi sternly retorted. ”Are your petty little affairs more important than my studies?!”

”...”

”Normally, I don’t care what crimes you commit or how you handle them. But today, I’m telling you, I want you to go tell everyone you know—”

Huai Shi drew the Sword of Virtue, placing it against his throat, and spoke deliberately, ”For the seven days before the exam, and the three days during the exam itself—that’s ten days—I want all smuggling and every other damn messy business to stop. Completely. If, after I enter the exam hall, I receive a text message saying, ’Sorry, there are a few idiotic smugglers near you dealing in Border-prohibited drugs. Could you come over and check it out...’ I don’t need to spell out the consequences, do I?”

”I don’t care who your backer is, who’s behind you, or what kind of bastard you’re a lackey for. Whoever dares to cause trouble during my exams will pay. Understand?”

The old man let out an involuntary cry of pain.

The Sword of Virtue had already been driven into the back of his hand, which was pressed against the table, searing the wound with a SIZZLE.

”Un-understood!” he shrieked in alarm. ”I understand everything!”

”Good.”

Huai Shi nodded, pulling out the Sword of Virtue. He gave the man one last glance. ”Then I wish you good health and all the best.”

With a wave of his hand, he recalled the Yin Soul.

He turned and walked away as the darkness gradually dissipated behind him, leaving the old man sitting in the office, the scent of blood still lingering, as if just waking from a nightmare. As Huai Shi politely and softly closed the door, the battered solid wood desk instantly collapsed, shattering and falling to the floor.

In the silence, only the dazed old man remained, shivering. He was still immersed in this incomprehensible nightmare.

Outside the door, the fierce sunlight poured down, illuminating the youth’s slightly pale face.

”Summer is coming, huh...”

He sighed, looked up at the clear sky for a moment, then walked into the crowd on the street and disappeared.

At three o’clock in the afternoon, Huai Shi returned to school and, as expected, saw Fu Yi feeding the dog in his music room.

”Ah, you’re late again?” Fu Yi said nonchalantly as she turned to look at him.

Then, seizing a moment when she wasn’t looking, the Broken Dog skillfully went to the corner and lifted its leg...

Huai Shi immediately kicked out, but to his surprise, he missed. The Broken Dog had already taken refuge behind Fu Yi, grinning smugly at him.

”Why are you peeing everywhere again!” Fu Yi looked down at it, annoyed.

”When a dog misbehaves, it’s usually just pretending,” Huai Shi suggested darkly from beside her. ”Castrating it would fix that. Need my help?”

”It’s just a dog; there’s no need to fuss over it.” Fu Yi rolled her eyes and kicked it. Instead of getting angry, the Broken Dog glanced triumphantly at Huai Shi, as if implying Huai Shi should be envious. After panting a couple of times, it curled up in its den under the air conditioner to continue its nap.

”This damn dog is one of a kind,” Huai Shi muttered, scratching his head, deeply understanding Director Fu’s frustration and helplessness.

It was said that this dog’s conflict with Director Fu had intensified in the last few days, nearly reaching the point where Director Fu was about to deploy snipers. This was because this dog had eaten his service weapon for the third time, this time not even leaving him the bullets.

Director Fu really couldn’t take it anymore, so Fu Yi had no choice but to leave the dog in Huai Shi’s music room. And now it was Huai Shi’s problem.

What terrible karma is this, to be tormented by this beast?

”Why not give it to me? I think this dog and I are fated,” Huai Shi suggested for what felt like the hundredth time. ”I have a relative on the Border where there’s plenty of space. It can run wild there, bite whatever it wants, and be perfectly happy.”

Hmm, he already had the recipe for Abyss Dog Meat Hotpot. All the seasonings were ready; he was just missing a dog.

The dog raised its eyes to look at him, snorted through its nose as if scoffing disdainfully, and completely ignored him.

”TSK...”

Huai Shi drew the Sacrificial Knife from behind his back, considering paying it a visit that evening.

”Alright, stop fooling around,” Fu Yi shook her head. ”Teacher Wu was just here looking for you.”

”Just tell her I went to study,” Huai Shi replied shamelessly, then added truthfully, ”I just performed a cello piece. Everyone who heard it said it was good.”

”The disaster drill class is mandatory for everyone,” Fu Yi said. ”You’ve already missed three sessions. The academic affairs office won’t overlook it.”

Huai Shi walked over to the window and looked down. He saw the students arranged in neat formations on the sports field, listening to instructions from guest instructors. They were talking about emergency evacuations and response strategies for disasters—all the same old stuff.

Among those claiming to be from the fire department, he could spot several familiar faces from the Social Security Bureau.

Lately, there had been many strange incidents due to the increased activity of the Current Circumstances Genesis, causing trouble in many areas. For instance, there were reports of a tree suddenly growing tens of meters high overnight from under the floorboards of an apartment on the twelfth floor. Other incidents included infectious flu outbreaks, rising sea levels, rampant earthquakes, and people waking up in the middle of the night to find their neighbor’s long-dead grandfather standing at the foot of their bed.

Some were fabrications or exaggerations passed from person to person. Some were normal geological movements. And some were genuinely strange occurrences. Most of these were due to indices within the framework not being adjusted in time.
