Chapter 482: Chapter 420 Ammit_1

”Two?”

Morando licked his lips, greedily murmuring, ”Two is even better!”

Not until he laid eyes on Huai Shi and murderous intent flashed in his eyes did Death Perception surge frantically from Huai Shi’s consciousness.

What surprised him even more was how swiftly Beelzebub responded.

Beelzebub quickly replied, ”[I am Osiris’s radar control program, after all. What do you think?] [What are you standing around dazed for? Run, bro! He’s about to eat someone!]”

Literally speaking, that was correct.

Huai Shi saw Morando’s mouth open, a wicked smile forming as sharp canine teeth slowly emerged, the shadow of Dracula spreading all around.

Beelzebub urged, ”[Head east! Yan Shi’s cover is forming there, and a team is hurrying this way! Go, go, go!!!]”

Without any hesitation, Huai Shi began a strategic retreat.

Run!

In his wake, a dark torrent swept forth.

Huai Shi only saw a blur before a slender figure emerged from the darkness right in front of him, its writhing limbs sweeping across.

It was like being struck by a sharp blade!

Damn! I almost forgot, this son of a bitch can teleport!

Under the reflection of the Mirror of Nothingness, Death Perception crystallized into substance, piercingly painful to Huai Shi’s eyes.

Without thinking, he raised the Sword of Virtue in front of him.

Immediately, he was sent flying backward.

Before he even hit the ground, his arm had snapped cleanly in two, and he couldn’t even hold onto the sword.

I shouldn’t have said Tony was weak. I didn’t expect my own damage output to be so bad either...

He was filled with regret.

But his hands didn’t stop moving; he tossed out two Alchemy Bombs ahead in an attempt to briefly stall Morando’s advance. Then, without any warning, he changed directions, darting into a nearby room.

Before he could even make out the furnishings in the room, a slender, ghostly figure flashed from the darkness, its writhing fingers reaching for his face.

Huai Shi didn’t even have time to take a deep breath and fell backward.

Iron Bridge!

He felt like his back was about to break, and he’d almost slammed Tony onto the ground as well.

Beelzebub warned, ”[Watch your back!]” directly inputting the imagery into his consciousness, providing him with a full map view.

Right behind Huai Shi, from his shadow on the floor, Morando’s pale face suddenly emerged, hand raised, stabbing towards the very close Huai Shi.

This time, Huai Shi disregarded his movements, rolling abruptly like a dog to one side, narrowly avoiding the attack.

Morando grew increasingly furious!

Four attacks, four misses!

It was like dealing with a damn claw machine, driving him to the point where he could no longer care about keeping Huai Shi and Tony completely intact. With an angry shout, he transformed into a swarm of countless bats, covering the sky as they flew toward them.

We’re done for!

Huai Shi felt a cold dread creep up the back of his neck, hesitating for a moment about whether to throw Tony out to take the hit. But remembering how the guy, even at death’s door, was still thinking of protecting him, he couldn’t help but sigh deeply and shield Tony behind him.

Then...

He pulled out ”Lord of the Flies”, holding it up against the approaching swarm of bats.

Beelzebub shouted in grief and indignation, ”[Wait, what are you doing—] [You beast! I’m like your brother from another mother! How could you do this to me!]”

Huai Shi retorted furiously in his consciousness, ”We’re at death’s door, and you, you bastard, are still slacking off! We might not have been born on the same day of the same month of the same year, but let’s aim to die on the same day of the same month of the same year! Let’s all hit the road together today; I’ll fulfill your dream of brotherhood on Huangquan Road!”

In that almost frozen moment, Beelzebub made a token struggle.

He couldn’t help but sigh.

Beelzebub said, ”[It’s not that I’m dragging my feet, little bro—if I really went all out, do you think you could handle it?]”

Huai Shi shot back, ”At this point, do I even have a choice whether I can handle it or not?!”

The swarm of bats from the darkness was nearly upon Huai Shi, his face a ghastly pale. ”If you’ve got a move, make it now!”

Beelzebub declared, ”[Alright! You’re the one who said it!]”

At his fingertips, ”Lord of the Flies” suddenly shuddered!

The Steel book trembled violently, as if a core pivot had been activated—countless components instantly rose from within it, contracting, modules shifting, formations changing, Source Substance loading, soul recognition...

A chilling, low voice echoed in Huai Shi’s consciousness.

[Danger source detected approaching]

[Abyssal contamination detected]

[Osiris Armor deployment—Source Substance insufficient, deployment failed—]

[Manifestation of Osiris’s Hand begins—Source Substance insufficient, manifestation emergency halt—]

[Osiris’s Eye ready to lock on, orbital strike in progress—Deep Space border satellite undetected—orbital strike failed—]

...

In an instant, what felt like a hundred thousand reports blared in Huai Shi’s consciousness, one after another, almost making his head explode.

In a daze, he only heard the last few sentences.

[Styx II Exoskeleton Module undetected—Thermal Weapon Sword of Horus undetected—Emergency search—Emergency search—Emergency processing module online—]

[—Ultra-compact Judgment Engine·Ammit, loaded!]

In that frozen moment, countless steel modules flipped and folded at lightning speed. The Steel book in Huai Shi’s hands had transformed into a heavy revolver.

On the pistol’s grip, the bas-relief of a crocodile-headed God Spirit slowly lit up and opened its maw.

Huai Shi’s vision went black, his face turning so pale it was almost transparent, utterly devoid of color.

More than half of his blood had been sucked away by this bizarre revolver, followed by nearly all his Source Substance, and even all the negative energy and potent toxins within him.

The greedy pistol ferociously devoured everything from Huai Shi; the vast life force belonging to the Mountain Ghost rapidly drained, almost hitting bottom.

It even completely drained the triple-dose of Source Substance reserves he had in his pocket.

It felt as if it wanted to swallow him whole!

A crisp CLICK echoed from the cylinder in Huai Shi’s consciousness, and then a bullet appeared in the previously empty chamber.

It looked as if carved from Green Gold, so translucent it was mesmerizing.

Instinctively, Huai Shi pulled the trigger.

Then, he couldn’t hear anything at all.

He couldn’t see anything anymore.

He couldn’t even feel his left hand holding the gun.

In that instant, a thunderous roar, as if a million bolts of lightning had exploded simultaneously, burst forth from the barrel, along with a terrifying light so intense it could melt any retina.

Huai Shi almost suspected he was holding the main cannon of a battle tank.

But now, a terrifying recoil comparable to a tank’s main cannon shot through his hand, and he could almost imagine the bones in his left arm shattering inch by inch.

And then there was that beam of light, howling from the barrel.

Light.

It tore through everything!

In that instant, the whole world seemed to fall into silence.

In frozen time, the fierce Light of Judgment surged out, effortlessly tearing through the darkness like a mischievous child ripping paper.

Under radar detection, it locked firmly onto the core shadow amidst the countless bat swarms, incinerating the myriad bats before it and completely piercing the Domain formed by the Miracle Imprint·Dracula.

Then, like a red-hot needle, it pierced out from the other side.

Still forward, forward, and further forward.

After burning a hole as wide as a bucket through all bulkheads and armor, it howled out, piercing through the Group Star from bottom to top. Then, defiantly, it flew out of the Group Star, soaring alone in the wind, heading upwards and sideways into the endless Abyss.

Layer upon layer of double helix crystal pillars were pierced from within by this Light of Judgment, leaving finger-width penetration marks before finally dissipating amidst the refractions of countless crystals.

It was like a grand fireworks display.

Leaving behind only numerous charred and brutal marks as proof of its passage.

The supreme beings fighting outside turned their heads in astonishment.

What on earth... was that?

「. . .」

When Huai Shi’s vision finally cleared from the blinding white, he saw the darkness frozen in mid-air. Once his ears were free from the buzzing static, he heard Morando’s furious roar.

The Miracle Imprint·Dracula trembled furiously as it swiftly contracted.

Explosive retreat!

As countless charred bats fell from the sky, a mutilated body slowly took shape amidst the darkness, letting out a pained wail.

”My... my... MY FACE!!!”

On his face, a large, charred hole had appeared. It had consumed his left eye, cheekbone, and even his eyebrow before exiting through the back of his head.

Leaving an empty cavity.

His entire face was burnt to a crisp, thick blood constantly oozing out, sizzling softly.

”AH! AH!!!! MY FACE!!!”

He screamed shrilly, clutching his ravaged face, and looked angrily towards Huai Shi. Then he saw the pistol in Huai Shi’s hand, now glowing red-hot.

What on earth was that?

He couldn’t hide his fear—just one shot had been enough to severely damage his Miracle Imprint; even Dracula’s undying attribute had been burned through with no resistance.

However, no matter what that thing was, he probably couldn’t use it a second time.

He panted heavily, tearing off the charred flesh and skin from his face, revealing shattered bones and writhing muscle beneath.

His single, bloodshot eye stared at Huai Shi.

”You little bastard—I’m going to tear you limb from limb!!!!”

CRACK!

From the side, a cane was suddenly interposed.

An elegant, middle-aged gentleman emerged from the void, blocking his path.

”I’m terribly sorry, Mr. Morando—”

Matthes glanced back at his astonished allies, a helpless smile on his face. ”Could you perhaps do me a small favor and allow me a few words with this... ah, Mr. Huai Shi of the Astronomical Society?”

”...”

Morando’s expression twitched, as if he were about to burst into a torrent of curses. The brutality and rage in his one eye were unmistakable.

But under Matthes’s calm gaze, that uncontrollable fury gradually subsided.

Or rather, he didn’t dare let it erupt.

”Just a short while will do,” Matthes said with a smile, glancing pointedly yet casually at a spot not far away. ”Besides, things like food... aren’t they everywhere?”

Morando’s hands clenched suddenly.

In the dead silence, he slowly retreated a step, then another. With an angry roar, he transformed into a swarm of countless bats and disappeared into the darkness.

He left. The formidable enemy had retreated.

But Huai Shi felt not the slightest bit of relief. On the contrary, his heart had already turned cold.

The moment this Old Turtle appeared, four words surged into his mind: Golden. Dawn! Countless ways to die flashed through his brain. If that old man discovered he was carrying the Book of Fate, he’d be doomed a hundred thousand times over.

But unexpectedly, this time, before he could even speak, the pistol in his hand rapidly contracted, transforming back into the Steel book, ”Lord of the Flies”.

As the pages vibrated, an almost roaring voice erupted from within. ”Matthes, you scoundrel!” Beelzebub roared, his voice filled with uncontrollable fury. ”How dare you show your face before me!”
