Chapter 1048, The Elf Race

Translator: Silavin

The Elf Race.

One of this world’s most ancient Races, the power of the Elf Race was beyond question.

They could originally have stood alongside those Races of the same era, towering at the continent’s pinnacle, receiving worship from Myriad Races. Yet they chose instead to dwell within the Elf Forest, contending with nothing.

They worshipped nature, worshipped life.

They detested warfare because, to the Elves, it represented disrespect for life.

However, precisely because of the Elf Race’s non-aggressive posture, the various Races forgot the Elf Race’s power. They even began to set their designs upon the Elf Race.

But the Elf Race was favoured by Heaven itself.

Even the most ordinary Elf could live over a thousand years.

Ten thousand years of life?

Perhaps for other Races, only top experts could achieve this, and even then, they required various life-extending divine medicines.

But for the Elf Race, this proved far less difficult.

Within the Elf Race, Elves who had lived ten thousand years were merely Elders or respected Seniors.

Legend held that within the Elf Race, each generation’s Elf Queen could live over thirty thousand years!

One must understand that among other Races, even supreme experts rarely surpassed the twenty-thousand-year threshold.

All of this stemmed from the Power of Life possessed within the Elf Race.

They were children of nature, children of life!

Precisely because of the Elf Race’s Power of Life, they drew the attention of Races with ill intentions.

These Races secretly captured Elves, cruelly slaughtering them, extracting their Power of Life to extend their own lifespans.

Under such circumstances, the Elf Race’s fury erupted.

A hundred Elder Elves mobilised together. Wherever they passed, none could stand against them. They consecutively destroyed over a thousand cities.

That battle thoroughly awakened the various Races!

That battle also taught these Races to respect the ancient Elf Race.

The Elf Race was no toothless tiger, it had merely retracted its fangs!

Thereafter, no Race dared provoke the Elf Race again. At least, none dared do so as brazenly as before.

Yet precisely because of those with ulterior motives, the Elf Race gradually became highly xenophobic toward other Races.

Entering the Elf Forest was no simple matter.

Throughout the journey, the Lunar Palace Old Ancestor said nothing. Only when Little Ling’er teased her did her expression show any change.

Under this Old Ancestor’s guidance, the three silently crossed the territories of over a dozen races without drawing anyone’s attention.

The journey continued wordlessly, persisting for nearly a full day.

Finally, at a certain moment, Qin Yichen sensed the Old Ancestor’s speed slowing. Subsequently, his vision blurred and his form appeared suspended in mid-air.

“Have we already arrived?” Qin Yichen shook his head slightly, carefully releasing Little Ling’er before finally looking forward.

When he beheld the boundless green ocean ahead, his pupils could not help but contract.

There, countless towering trees stood. The dense sensation of vitality practically surged toward them, merely looking upon it made one feel as though they had consumed divine pills and miraculous medicines, their Soul completely refreshed!

“The Elf Forest is just up ahead. I can only escort you this far.” The Lunar Palace Old Ancestor’s form descended, stopping at the forest’s edge as she spoke softly.

The Elf Race had issued a prohibition: that Saints, unless invited, could not set foot in the Elf Forest. Otherwise, it would be considered provocation!

The Lunar Palace Old Ancestor had travelled among numerous Races in her youth, establishing friendships with many powerful figures. However, even she would not enter without the Elf Race’s permission.

On this occasion, Little Ling’er’s situation was somewhat special. The Life Scripture was unique to the Elf Race. Even if she swallowed her pride to request for it, they likely would not grant her this favour.

“This Junior is grateful for Senior’s efforts to bring us here.”

Qin Yichen and Little Ling’er descended as well. Subsequently, he respectfully bowed to the old woman, offering sincere thanks.

This journey had traversed dozens of territories of various Races. Without the Lunar Palace Old Ancestor’s guidance, attempting to cross these territories on his own would have been immensely difficult.

After all, who could predict what unforeseen circumstances might arise?

Behind him lurked an as-yet-unidentified mastermind that sought to kill him. Even if that individual found it inconvenient to act directly, should news of his True Dragon Martial Soul leak out, this journey would likely be extremely dangerous and he might never return.

The Lunar Palace Old Ancestor had brought him directly beyond Human Race territory. With her strength. As such, even that traitorous mastermind should not be able to detect them, unless the Old Ancestor herself was that very mastermind!

“Take this token.” The Lunar Palace Old Ancestor clearly remained unaware of Qin Yichen’s thoughts. She withdrew a wooden token from her sleeve, passing it to Qin Yichen. “During my travels in my earlier years, I once assisted a member of the Elf Race. Now, he has become an Elder within the Elf Race. Holding this token will allow you to request for a favour from him.”

“Many thanks!” Qin Yichen drew a deep breath, accepting the token with a nod.

A favour from an Elf Race Elder. The weight of this token could not be taken lightly!

“Your true challenge only begins now. This is all I can help you with. From here on out, everything depends on the two of you.” The Lunar Palace Old Ancestor sighed softly. “Regardless of the outcome, if you wish to return, simply exit the Elf Forest and crush this token. I will come to collect you.”

Once her words concluded, the Lunar Palace Old Ancestor lovingly stroked Little Ling’er’s head. Then, glancing at Qin Yichen, she slowly walked toward the rear. Within a few steps, her figure vanished from their sight.

“Daddy, where are we going?” Little Ling’er tugged at Qin Yichen’s sleeve, asking. Within those adorable eyes flickered confusion.

Why had the Old Ancestor, who treated her as a Granddaughter, shown such an expression?

Moreover, why could she faintly sense a summoning sensation emanating from deep within the forest ahead?

“To resolve something harmful within your body. Don’t worry. With me here, we’ll be fine.” Qin Yichen smiled indulgently at Little Ling’er. Then he stood, gazing toward the Elf Forest ahead as his expression gradually grew solemn.

After learning that the enormous energy within Little Ling’er’s body was Power of Life, he had decided: as long as it could resolve the Power of Life within Little Ling’er, even if it meant entering a Dragon’s pool or a Tiger’s den, he would brave all risks!

Moreover, for this purpose, he had genuinely prepared numerous contingencies. Perhaps they might really succeed.

Even if the Elf Race refused, with the token the Lunar Palace Ancestor had provided, safely retreating should not be too difficult.

Finally, Qin Yichen gently held Little Ling’er’s small hand, advancing toward the Elf Forest with resolute steps.
