Chapter 955, The Man-Eating Swamp

Translator: Silavin

Prison Dragon Slope sat in the centre of a treacherous swamp spanning several hundred kilometres.

Within a hundred kilometres of its vicinity, miasma filled the air, and countless poisonous insects and venomous beasts lurked within. It was said that if one ventured too deep, even Martial Ancestors could find themselves trapped in extremely difficult circumstances if they were not careful.

Therefore, under normal circumstances, few people would brave the highly poisonous miasma to enter.

Of course, this situation was completely shattered when the strange phenomena appeared. Under the lure of extraordinary treasures, the so-called dangers had long been swept away to the Ninth Heaven by Human greed.

The originally desolate black swamp region had, in an extremely short time, become almost like a tourist destination. Within it, one could constantly see flashing figures, a truly lively spectacle.

Under this terrifying influx of people, how many had become fertiliser in the black swamp, no one knew for certain. However, everyone understood that to cross this miasma-filled swampland and successfully reach Prison Dragon Slope absolutely required considerable strength. Otherwise, even if one were exceptionally lucky and eventually arrived there, they would likely have their life claimed by a cold arrow from the shadows.

In summary, this incident was fraught with danger at every turn. One careless mistake could cost one’s life. However, under the temptation of the extraordinary treasure, there were still countless experts who gathered their trusted companions and continuously surged forward.

The dozens of Martial Ancestors from the Mu Family, after a day’s journey, had finally arrived outside this swampland.

By now, night had fallen. Deep within the swamp, the glow of campfires faintly showed through. From time to time, bone-chilling screams pierced the night’s silence, spreading far and wide.

“Let’s camp here and rest today. Tomorrow we’ll set out for Prison Dragon Slope.” Mu Enxiong glanced at the sky, then waved his hand for the people behind to stop.

The others had no objections to his words. Although everyone following in the group, apart from Qin Yichen, were all Martial Ancestors, the hundred kilometre swamp outside Prison Dragon Slope had a notorious reputation. Added to the pitch-black night, visibility in the black swamp would be even lower, greatly increasing the danger. Even they would likely face the risk of perishing.

At Mu Enxiong’s instruction, the many experts behind swiftly descended and made camp on the spot.

And those experts who had originally been indignant seemed to have been shocked by Wang Zhouzi’s earlier appearance, accepting their fate as cannon fodder. One by one, they settled down peacefully.

“Brother Yichen, we’ve only just arrived now. Are we a bit late?” During their rest, Feng Qianxue asked Qin Yichen. Even under the cover of night, numerous figures were still impatiently entering the swampland.

With such a massive crowd, by the time it was their turn to enter, wouldn’t there be nothing left?

“Haha, don’t worry. That strange phenomenon hasn’t reached its peak yet. These people are just the first batch of cannon fodder.” Qin Yichen shook his head and smiled.

The information had definitely been deliberately released, and it was extremely likely that Flying Heaven Fort had done it.

However, as the regional Forces of this area, Flying Heaven Fort and the Mu Family had not made any moves. They clearly wanted these people to scout the path for them.

*Buzz…* While the two were conversing, the earth suddenly seemed to tremble violently.

Then, in the distant sky, a seven-coloured precious light shot up into the sky. In that moment, even the pitch-black night was forcibly dispersed, illuminating this region as bright as day.

Under this precious light, countless people’s breathing grew heavier, and pairs of eyes turned somewhat bloodshot.

“The strange phenomenon has appeared again! This time it’s even more prominent. Damn it, is the extraordinary treasure about to emerge?”

“Never mind that! Quickly move! If we’re late, we won’t catch even a hair!”

The seven-coloured precious light persisted for quite some time before gradually dissipating, and night descended once more. After this display, another large batch of experts could no longer restrain themselves and charged into the black swampland.

For a time, within the black swamp, campfires blazed everywhere. The sounds of clashing blades and anguished screams constantly rang out. No one knew how many experts had perished: whether they had died from the dangers of the miasma-filled black swamp or from the dark hands of fellow Humans…

In the makeshift camp, however, Qin Yichen’s brow furrowed tightly. Through that seven-coloured precious light, he seemed to have detected a trace of familiar fluctuation…

Over the course of a single night, such phenomena appeared fourteen or fifteen times. From initially once per hour, it gradually changed to every half hour, or even shorter intervals. Moreover, the duration of these phenomena grew longer and longer!

Finally, morning arrived.

Outside the hundred kilometre black swamp, it became thoroughly lively. Quite a few teams with decent composure who had maintained their reason and persisted until daybreak hurriedly packed up their tents and successively advanced into the black swamp.

Looking at their hasty expressions, it was as if arriving late would mean the extraordinary treasure would be completely claimed by others.

“Let’s go!” Mu Enxiong waved his hand. Without further words, he headed directly into the black swamp. Seeing this, Qin Yichen and the others swiftly followed.

Entering this swampland, a faint oppressive feeling immediately shrouded everyone’s hearts. The light here seemed somewhat dim, as if even the sunlight had been devoured by the pitch-black swamp.

Hearing the occasional screams from the distance, everyone’s expressions grew slightly grave. In such a place, if one were careless, losing one’s life wouldn’t be anything unusual.

Moreover, along their path, they had not discovered a single corpse. Clearly, those bodies had been swallowed by the swamp below, which continuously bubbled with black foam.

There were evidently many teams entering the black swamp. Just along the direction the Mu Family’s forces were travelling, they had already seen over a dozen teams. These teams, whether large or small, without exception were all led by Peak Stage Martial Emperors or even Martial Ancestors.

These teams were somewhat wary of each other. After casting fearful glances at the Mu Family’s overwhelmingly powerful forces, they all gave way.

Qin Yichen paid no attention to these people. This time, Mu Enxiong had come prepared and possessed a detailed route of Prison Dragon Slope, thus saving needless searching. All along the way, their aura spread out, and no one blind enough dared to approach seeking death.

After entering the black swampland, Mu Enxiong had Fei Yunxiao and the dozens of other Martial Ancestors walk at the front. Although the latter felt disgruntled, he could only obediently follow Mu Enxiong’s orders.
