A Star Reborn: The Queen’s Return

He casually placed his arm around Manager Li’s shoulder and dragged him forward in the face of two bodyguards.

Manager Li refused to go. He had not told the reporters that Xia Yu was about to arrive and they should not leave! It was a pity that Lin Yunan used to fight in bars. He was very strong and Manager Li could not leave.

In the eyes of the outsiders, they seemed to be particularly friendly based on their back views.

Manager Li was dragged away like that in despair.

As for the news that Xia Yu was about to arrive? Unfortunately, not a single reporter heard it.

“Didn’t get to take pictures of Xia Yu this time.” Some reporters were a little disappointed. As they kept their cameras, they said to their companions, “Xia Yu’s first red carpet walk since her comeback is also quite a good piece of news.”

Another reporter said, “I heard that she is stuck in a traffic jam. Who knows when she will come? She’s also not a Diva like Miss Ling, so no one will wait for her if she’s too late.”

“Exactly. If she’s behind Miss Ling, we can still wait. If the time discrepancy is too long, we won’t wait then. Especially waiting for her is not worth it.”

The two reporters joked around and crossed paths with Lin Yunan.

Manager Li opened his mouth and looked like he was about to tell them that Xia Yu was arriving, but Lin Yunan nimbly covered his mouth and dragged him to a dark corner.

At the red carpet, the group of reporters dispersed. Only then did Lin Yunan happily let go of his hand and patted his shoulder. “Ok, you can go now.”

Manager Li was furious. “Mr. Lin, what you’re doing is illegal! Restricting the freedom of others!”

Lin Yunan did not care at all. “Ok, you can sue me.”

Manager Lin was even angrier. Trembling, he pointed his finger at him but could not say a single word. Rascal… Lin Yunan was a rascal! In such a glamorous entertainment industry, how could a person use such underhanded means without caring about his dignity!

In his rage, Manager Li forgot that the person who started the scheme was him.

If he did not deliberately schedule for Xia Yu to appear behind Xia Ling, would this commotion happen?!

Ring—

A phone rang.

Manager Li could not be bothered to argue with Lin Yunan and quickly answered his phone. “Hello, Miss Xia Yu? I’m really sorry. Please don’t move and remain at your original spot. I will go over to look for you now!”

He glared angrily at Lin Yunan one last time before hurriedly rushing off to look for Xia Yu.

At this time, Xia Yu was in an embarrassing situation. Her limousine was stopped not far from Xia Ling’s. Once she saw Xia Ling on the red carpet, she followed her original plan. Her sense of time was very accurate. Normally, a female star usually took five to ten minutes to complete the red carpet walk. Thus, she only had to appear on the red carpet after ten minutes. This was the perfect time because the reporters had not left yet.

She already fantasized about her perfect and dazzling appearance.

In the future, the news would report about how she made a stunning return to the music scene.

Unfortunately, she did not expect Xia Ling to finish the red carpet so quickly. It was as if she finished it in a gust of wind and did not stop for even a minute. In a flash, she also told the reporters that they could leave.

That group of idiotic reporters really started to pack up!

Xia Yu was frantic now. She lifted her dress and was about to scurry onto the red carpet. However, after a few steps, a young girl appeared out of nowhere and knocked into her. When the girl raised her head and saw Xia Yu, she apologized profusely, said that she was her fan, and excitedly asked for a photo and signature.

After she dealt with this “fan” and arrived at the red carpet, the cordon had been removed.

The initial neat rows of reporters on both sides of the red carpet were gone and most of the reporters with admission passes had already entered Nebula Music Festival to grab news. The remaining reporters who did not have admission badges were randomly interviewing fans or chatting with one another.

When they saw Xia Yu, many people looked shocked.

“Miss Xia, over here!” A sharp reporter called her.

She turned around and tried her best to suppress her anger. Now, her manager was not by her side. Didn’t Xiao Li say that he was going to greet the reporters? Where was he? Her assistant was also not with her. As she rushed over too quickly, she unknowingly ditched her assistant somewhere behind her.

She was alone lifting her dress, looking helpless and embarrassed. Behind her, there was a messy crowd and a commotion in the background. Even the shape of her fishtail dress was a little deformed. Could a red carpet shot like this be acceptable?

She was embarrassed and angry. On the surface, she still tried her best to remain elegant.

Not all reporters would also consider her opinion. Click! Before she was prepared, some reporters had already taken pictures of her embarrassing situation in the crowd.

Startled, she instinctively wanted to get even with that reporter but remained rooted to the ground.

Getting even was usually done by the manager and assistant! When has anyone seen a celebrity quarrel with the media before? That was beneath her!

Xia Yu was infuriated. Why were her manager and assistant not here yet?

She could do nothing but watch as the reporter walked away.

“Miss Xia Yu! I’m sorry, really sorry! Just now, Lin Yunan…”

“Stop with your rubbish and quickly chase after that reporter!” Xia Yu did not have the time to hear her manager’s explanation. She pointed in the direction that the reporter went. “He took my photo. I want you to quickly make him delete it!”

Manager Li hurriedly ran off again.

“Reporter Wu! Reporter Wu!” Manager Li’s entire forehead was covered in sweat as he panted and grabbed the reporter who took the photo. “Did you take Miss Xia Yu’s photo just now? How much money do you want? Name a price. I’ll buy it!” Imperial Entertainment had a lot of money, and like Chu Chen, Manager Li was very skilled when negotiating with money.

Reporter Wu shot a look at his companions and they left.

Smiling, Reporter Wu said, “So you’re Xiao Li? Well then, don’t be nervous. How about you name a price? If it’s suitable, I will sell it to you.”

To put it bluntly, this was hush money.

Panting, Manager Li held out five fingers.

“Fifty thousand?” Reporter Wu asked.

Manager Li laughed dryly. “Brother Wu, five… five thousand.”

“Five thousand?” Reporter Wu’s expression suddenly changed. “Are you treating me as a joke? Xiao Li, don’t blame me for not reminding you. At that time when Chu Chen was managing Xia Ling, he always called me ‘brother’! At that time, I have never sold a photo for fifty thousand. My starting price is a hundred thousand, understand?”
