Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2442: Chapter 2443: Prisoner

Angel knew nothing about matters beyond the dimensions.

At this moment, he had already set off again, heading towards the Central Region of the Mist Belt.

After careful consideration and weighing the pros and cons, he decided to go and have a look. Because, this time, he was not only there for positioning, but he also had other matters to attend to and other ”people” to meet.

With Speedy’s propulsion through the gale, it didn’t take Angel long to arrive at the Reef Island area.

The place was still tranquil, even more so than before. But this tranquility didn’t provide a sense of peace; rather, it made people somewhat agitated and restless, like the deathly stillness before a storm.

”The air’s getting more humid, the smell worse; I don’t like it, and it’s a bit uncomfortable.”

The speaker was Dangross. Ever since Toby was ”sealed” into the bracelet by Angel, Dangross had smoothly taken the position, perched on Angel’s shoulder.

Having never experienced this before, Dangross was now extremely excited. It treated Angel’s shoulder like a stage, pacing back and forth, seemingly trying to breathe in ”Lord Toby’s” scent through this method.

Admittedly, this scene was a bit odd to behold.

Imagine a pale severed hand pacing back and forth on a shoulder, humming a sharp, off-key song—it was genuinely bizarre and eerie. At that moment, if someone were to look over, Dangross would undoubtedly catch their eye first.

Initially, Angel also wanted Dangross to calm down a bit, but then he thought, since there were no ordinary people nearby and he wasn’t using his true appearance, any embarrassment wouldn’t fall on him, so he silently let it be. Additionally, Dangross had recently performed well, offering quite a lot of help, and Angel was willing to show a bit of fatherly tolerance.

”You’re feeling uncomfortable and still followed along—earlier, when my mentor offered to take you back, you insisted on following me.” Although Angel was teasing Dangross with his words, he swiftly retrieved a small bottle of quenching fluid from his bracelet and poured it over Dangross.

”Ah...refreshed!” Soaking in the quenching fluid, the somewhat wilted Dangross revived.

”I’m warning you, don’t get the quenching fluid on my clothes; if it burns a hole, I’ll deduct the bonus quenching fluid I promised you.”

”Don’t worry; I can easily control this little fire.” Dangross concluded, demonstrating by flicking the quenching fluid with a finger, turning it into bead-like shapes, so even if it landed on Angel’s clothes, it slid off like pearls with no sign of scorching.

From this, it’s clear that Dangross’s fire control ability was indeed quite good.

Such fire control, combined with alchemy, should be quite useful... Angel mused to himself.

”By the way, you still haven’t answered me, why didn’t you leave with my mentor?”

Dangross, while playing with the quenching fluid, lazily replied, ”I don’t want to; I want to be with Lord Toby.”

”But Toby isn’t outside at the moment. How about I put you in the bracelet too?” Angel suggested sincerely, as Toby was quite lonely as a bird in the bracelet and didn’t dare to go to the Wilderness of Dreams, fearing an encounter with Greya. So having Dangross accompany him inside was genuinely Angel’s idea.

Dangross’s body stiffened, then coughed twice, seemingly unintentionally saying, ”No, no problem at all. Occasionally accompanying Mr. Angel is quite fun.”

”Oh?” Angel raised an eyebrow.

Dangross: ”I mean, the fun of adventure.”

”Oh.” Angel gave Dangross a deep look, saying nothing more.

If Dangross wanted to stay outside for now, Angel would let it stay; it was nice to have someone to chat with. However, if any danger emerged later, Angel still intended to secure it in the bracelet, something Dangross agreed to.

As Angel casually chatted with Dangross, he returned to the Central District of the Mist Belt.

Upon arriving, the air became slightly stagnant with a vast and transcendent pressure descending once more.

While on the outskirts, he could barely endure the discomfort physically, but approaching the center, his speed decreased, even affecting Speedy. With no other choice, Angel reactivated the green pattern in his right eye; as the Domain Field opened, the pressure instantly dissipated by ninety percent.

Without the hindrance of pressure, Angel’s speed picked up again.

Soon, he arrived in the sea area where the base laboratory was located. Previously, in this vicinity, he could witness 00 entity—showcasing the laboratory’s might in the sky. But now, 00 was nowhere to be seen, presumably having headed for the seabed.

Whether 00 was ”returning” to the seabed or ”crashed” into it was unknown. This depended on 01’s choice; if he chose to resist, perhaps he would control 00 to attack Polo Ye, increasing the likelihood of 00’s crash; otherwise, the opposite was also true.

Angel personally believed that 01 would not choose to resist, as even if he did, he wouldn’t use 00 to fight, because doing so would mean completely turning against the Lacey Association. The Lacey Association held influence in the Quest World, and if 01 wanted to use the Quest World as a fallback, he wouldn’t sever his last route entirely.

Thus, the likelihood of 00 being well-preserved was actually quite significant, but Angel had no intention to check at that moment.

Because this time, his target for positioning was Polo Ye.

Since 00 was no longer on the sea surface, Polo Ye’s objective had evidently been achieved. The next target would be...the 03 entity.

Therefore, heading directly to where 03 was located was the plan.

As the destination drew nearer, the sea surface grew increasingly restless, and the ocean was littered with fragmented meat and bones, blood staining the entire sea surface like a blood sea.

All these fragments came from the sea beasts.

Judging from the current situation, the number of deceased sea beasts had reached an inconceivable number.

Moreover, more sea beasts continued to gather here, pouring in from various sea areas of the Mist Belt.

Watching the floating debris and red-and-white flesh on the sea surface, Angel’s expression gradually turned solemn. So many sea beasts’ deaths meant the mysterious fruit above 03’s head was approaching its critical point.

Another of Angel’s purposes for coming was to witness how a half-forgotten object ascends—a spectacle he absolutely couldn’t miss.

Thinking of this, Angel’s speed began to increase.

Soon, Angel sensed a certain attraction emanating from a specific point.

Looking up, he saw that the source of this attraction was a tide zone formed by towering sea walls.

Because it was too far, he couldn’t see what was on top of the sea walls, but Angel guessed that 03 was likely there.

Though this location was at least a few dozen miles from 03, the attraction had already spread this far, indicating the range of chaos was expanding.

Once the mysterious fruit matured and true chaos ensued, the area affected would undoubtedly experience the first wave of chaotic rhythm.

At that time, the outcome would be unpredictable. This was also what everyone worried about Angel’s situation.

Angel could still retreat now, but he didn’t hesitate and continued forward. Since he was already here, having made the choice of ”the heart’s desire,” he might as well follow through.

Moreover, with ”that person” around, he might not die.

Angel flew over twenty nautical miles further, reaching a point where he could see the 03’s figure above the sea wall.

The fruit’s attraction was also intensifying, but with the aid of the Domain Field, he could cope easily.

However, considering the attraction as a variable that would keep increasing with the fruit’s maturation, Angel dared not be careless.

Although he was still flying forward, his speed had slowed significantly. He calculated the rate at which attraction was increasing in his mind to avoid exceeding the average, which would result in losing control unexpectedly.

As Angel carefully probed onward, his figure also caught someone’s attention.

About ten nautical miles away from No. 03, far above the sky, Polo Ye seemed to sense something and turned to look.

Polo Ye’s sapphire-like, angular eyes reflected Angel’s figure.

”Lord of the City, it seems that interesting little fellow you mentioned earlier has also come over,” Polo Ye chuckled softly. ”Shuro shuro, I think I’m beginning to understand why you said he’s interesting.”

Angel was keenly aware of the dangers here, yet he returned regardless, which shows great courage. Unfortunately, no matter how courageous he is, he will still be trapped in a rhythm of disorder, unable to extricate himself, when faced with unreasonable and illogical mysterious objects.

”Ignore him.” The Divine Thought hiding within Polo Ye’s body said indifferently, a newly elevated Official Wizard is no different than those swimming sea beasts in the ocean—they cannot affect the big picture.

”You mentioned earlier that he bears the traces of that world’s power. Shuro~ Is his arrival a dispatch from that world?”

”No.” Once again, a concise answer.

”Shuro?” Why?

”Because, that place itself represents... disorder.”

A world that inherently symbolizes disorder, would it continue to pursue disorder? The answer is ambiguous, but at the very least, Gluz Deward has never heard of any life from that world participating in a contest of disorder. On the contrary, many transcendent beings have fallen into the rhythm of disorder within that world.

”Shuro...” This answer was something Polo Ye hadn’t considered before. It couldn’t help but swallow nervously, feeling its eight tentacles subtly growing cold.

”Lucky, lucky that the creatures of that world aren’t coming, otherwise the consequences would be unpredictable.”

Polo Ye mused silently, preparing to shift its attention away from Angel. But suddenly, it paused, thinking of something: ”By the way, I faintly smelled Shiz’s scent on that little fellow just now.”

”It’s the shell of Shiz’s larva, No. 01 has it. It should be what he got from No. 01.” Gluz Deward remarked.

”No need to capture him?”

”No need, I can feel that besides that shell, the Shiz larva’s fate hasn’t much intertwined with that person.”

This also explains that Angel didn’t get the shell directly from Shiz, but indirectly from someone else. Otherwise, Angel and the Shiz larva’s fate would be deeply entangled.

Because of this judgment, Gluz Deward immediately thought of No. 01.

”Shuro~” Alright.

Despite this, Polo Ye’s interest in Angel remained significant because this was the first human with such weak power that Polo Ye has encountered who nevertheless obtained the power of that world.

There’s no need to deal with Angel, but perhaps the Shiz larva could handle it. After all, possessing the shell of the Shiz larva creates a connection. Once the Shiz larva successfully undergoes nirvana, and if it remains unresolved, it will actively seek out Angel.

Of course, all of this hinges on whether Angel survives the chaos of disorderly rhythm.

”Shuro, foolish human, do you know that person?”

Polo Ye asked No. 01 beside him.

At this time, No. 01 appeared unbound, yet he remained motionless, his expression stiff like a mechanical robot.

For Polo Ye to deal with No. 01 was nothing but child’s play, however, instead of killing him, it captured him.

”Shuro? Almost forgot, I didn’t lift your language seal.” Polo Ye pretended to be cute, sticking out his little pink tongue, which then instantly turned from ”cute” to ”violent”.

Its tentacles transformed into a swift shadow, fiercely striking No. 01’s face.

No. 01’s face was struck, gouged open, and was left bloody and toothless.

”Now you can speak, human.”

As No. 01 felt able to move his tongue, he didn’t immediately answer Polo Ye’s question. Instead, he lifted what remained of his teeth and sharply bit into his tongue root.

”Biting your tongue will not kill you, but the pain is unbearable. So, you intend to die from pain? Do you think I’d let you die from pain?”

No. 01 stopped biting and fixed his bloodshot eyes on Polo Ye.

”Kill me, kill me!”

”Your wish to die is just a ploy to escape to Quest World during the connection phase~ Shuro~ Not gonna happen, yo.”

Polo Ye let out ”shuro shuro” laughter, a sound originally innocent, yet to No. 01, it sounded like a demon’s death knell.

”However, if you obediently follow my words, I might show you some leniency~ Shuro~”

No. 01 contemplated and evaluated the current situation. Eventually, he discarded his facade of insanity, shifting his focus to Polo Ye’s front, where a floating image in mid-air was displaying Angel’s appearance.

No. 01: ”He’s sent by the Lacey Association to provide support.”

Polo Ye chuckled, ”You think I’d believe that.”

No. 01: ”Then what is it you want to know?”

Without hesitation, Polo Ye swung out its tentacles again, battering No. 01’s other half of face beyond recognition: ”You should address me as the great Polo Ye, Master. And you shouldn’t deceive me.”

”Heh.”

”You’re dissatisfied? That’s fine, shuro~ If you dare defy me again, I will shred your soul to pieces.”

No. 01 fell silent.

”I’ll give you another chance, who is he?”

No. 01: ”... I don’t know him. All I know is, he broke into the lab before.”

Polo Ye stared intensely at No. 01. It could discern that No. 01 wasn’t lying; he genuinely didn’t know the little fellow.

Hence, the Shiz larva shell likely was snatched from the laboratory.

Regarding how the shell ended up with Angel, Polo Ye wasn’t overly concerned. However, since No. 01 mentioned he had sneaked into the lab before.

Perhaps, Deep Space knows who he is?

While Polo Ye investigated Angel’s identity, nearby, a white-haired Observer also noticed Angel’s arrival.
