Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2335: Chapter 2336: The Giant-Eyed Wild God

The rules of the mirror space ultimately still rest with the Mirror Grudge, and Angel found it difficult to guess out of thin air.

Since it’s hard to guess, it’s better to experience it firsthand.

Angel didn’t hesitate and directly entered the Lake Heart Island. The moment he set foot on Lake Heart Island, the Mirror Grudge standing in the center of the altar let out a furious howl.

The black flame behind him also began to grow wildly with his screams.

When the black flame was ten times larger than the Mirror Grudge, it suddenly transformed into a gigantic shadow. This shadow struggled and surged continually, as though a terrifying monster was hidden inside, trying to break through its shackles.

Angel raised his head and looked at the shadow behind the Mirror Grudge, with a pensive look in his eyes.

The energy level of the Mirror Grudge had somehow increased several times over.

At this moment, just the resulting soul pressure was enough to intimidate the vast majority of apprentice-level Transcendents.

Even if Neya were here, she might only retreat.

But for Angel, this energy level was still not enough to affect him. What he was curious about now was whether this was the Mirror Grudge’s own power, the power of the mirror space, or...

...Is it the power given to the Mirror Grudge by this altar?

The soul pressure had already reached its limit, but the size of the shadow was still increasing, seemingly trying to break through its fated confinement through expansion.

As the shadow enlarged, the howl of the Mirror Grudge also began to change. Previously, it was a loud shout filled with arrogance, but now it was more like a weak scream.

”Hmm, the soul force of the Mirror Grudge’s main body is rapidly decreasing... is the shadow behind him absorbing the soul force?” Angel thought, ”A bit strange.”

Angel had initially thought that the shadow was merely an ability of the Mirror Grudge, but now it seemed this wasn’t the case. The shadow truly appeared to be a creature distinct from the Mirror Grudge.

Could it be a creature once stored in the mirror space?

In that case... can the mirror space seal creatures?

While Angel was speculating, the altar underwent another change. The four heads hanging from high poles suddenly opened their mouths, and a large amount of black gas spewed from their mouths into the shadow behind the Mirror Grudge.

When this black gas entered the shadow, its struggles began to weaken, and its outline became increasingly solid.

At this time, one could vaguely see that the outline of the shadow was a massive creature, though its shape was not human.

One by one, the heads that sprayed out black gas began to wither, leaving only a thin layer of skin covering the skulls, as if their mission was completely over once the black gas was expelled.

As the heads withered, the shadow grew even more solid, even starting to coalesce an eye.

Although this eye had not finished forming, its fierce and violent energy had begun to diffuse outward.

Angel quietly watched the eye’s formation, not attempting to stop it, but his expression turned from relaxed to gradually grave.

The pitch-black eye, without any white, resembled the eye of some demons. But that wasn’t the most important thing. What shocked Angel was... this eye was observing its surroundings.

Observing with purpose, a sign of intelligence.

Completely different from the malicious eyes of the Mirror Grudge.

Why does such an intelligent creature exist in the mirror space?

While Angel was puzzled, the black gas from the fourth head on the high pole had also been expelled, and it began to wither.

However, the black gas seemed insufficient for the shadow’s forming, as even half of the eye remained shrouded in darkness.

Realizing the black gas would no longer replenish, the eye seemed to understand, glancing slightly towards the fifth high pole... which should have held Little Sam’s head, now bare.

”Useless being, daring to summon me like this without completing the sacrifice... this is blasphemy! Blasphemy!”

The enormous, angry eye slightly lowered and gazed at the Mirror Grudge kneeling on the altar.

Then it was stunned.

”It’s a soul... unexpectedly, even the physical body has perished?”

”Foolish ant!”

It kept cursing, seemingly trying to vent its anger.

Its demeanor, however, was just a strange frequency fluctuation to Angel’s ears, and he didn’t understand what was being said.

”Is that language?” Angel squinted, ”The language rules aren’t in phonetics, but a peculiar kind of wave. Even a single eye can emit such waves, which is something human or humanoid creatures can’t achieve.”

Angel’s voice caught the attention of the huge eye, which looked at Angel: ”Hmm, a human?”

”Who are you?” Angel stared into the eye. After a few seconds, he chuckled softly, ”Looks like you don’t understand the Universal Language.”

The enormous eye continually emitted waves: ”Are you mocking me? Damn, if the sacrifice were complete, I could have descended my will.”

It disdained learning languages, as during every descent, it communicated through will.

Yet this time, it missed a move. The sacrifice was incomplete, the will didn’t descend, not even the entire observational eye was formed, and the energy was too weak even to perceive human language.

Even if it couldn’t understand, anyone daring to smile before it was... blaspheming!

And those who blaspheme a deity must atone with their lives!

It just so happened that it needed this human’s life to complete the final sacrifice!

Thinking of this, greater malice flashed in its eye, and mighty and anomalous energy began to extend from the pupil, transforming outside into countless black and red bone blades.

”Human, in the last moments of your life, witness the power of greatness, you should feel honored.”

”What are you saying now? What a hassle, this non-symbolic wave can’t even be parsed by Language Analysis,” Angel looked up at the giant eye, ”But, there’s no need to guess what you’re saying.”

The countless bone blades aimed at him; just this told Angel the other wasn’t friendly.

”I only need to fight.”

The moment the words fell, the giant eye seemed to recognize Angel’s attack intent, and without hesitation, released the bone blades like arrows shot from a bowstring, overwhelmingly rushing towards Angel.

Feeling the cold and murderous whistle of the bone blades, a glint of satisfaction appeared in the huge eye.

The bone blade rain would envelop the entire range of this lake, and from its perspective, this human before it was inescapable.

However, soon its gaze froze.

The anticipated killing move did not take effect. All the bone blades stopped as they approached Angel, as if an invisible protective barrier surrounded and defended Angel from all the bone blades.

Seeing this, a hint of black cloud passed through the huge eye: ”Transcendent... Are you a Wizard?”

Since it coveted humans, it naturally understood everything here, including Transcendents among humans — Wizards.

However, it remembered that the believers it communicated with were on the edge of the continent, extremely far from the places where Wizards lived.

Why did a Wizard appear here?

Angel: ”Let me guess, are you asking why I can withstand your attack? Or are you surprised that I am a Transcendent... a life from the Otherworld?”

When Angel saw the huge eye, a vague suspicion arose in his heart. This eye might not be a native creature.

After all, this was the mirror of the altar, and early on Angel concluded that the object of the farmer’s sacrifice was likely a being from the Otherworld.

Moreover, the language spoken by this enormous eye was emitted at a frequency that humans could hardly produce.

Of course, even at this point, Angel was not completely certain the other party was an Otherworld being. Until he captured a bone blade, the original force within it was something he had never seen before, exuding an aura incompatible with the current age.

Angel had previously felt a similar aura in Jon.

At this point, Angel was able to confirm that this enormous eye was likely the Otherworldly life form worshipped by the group of nobles in Dawn Town.

Just what puzzled Angel was that the Knight order dispatched by the Silver Heron royal family never found any information on the farmer’s object of worship. Instead, he discovered clues within the mirror space created by the Mirror Grudge.

”Being able to fend off the bone blades, this is an Official Wizard... Damn, why would a Wizard appear here?”

Anger flashed in the eyes of the giant. Not only did it feel desecrated, but it burned with rage as it realized it could not defeat Angel in its current form.

The sacrificial ceremony was incomplete, and with only half an eye, it was absolutely no match for an Official Wizard.

Inability to defeat Angel didn’t really matter; this giant eye dying was inconsequential, as it was merely an insignificant wisp of energy... The most crucial matter was that Angel’s appearance meant its existence had been discovered.

Given the Southern Domain Wizard World’s attitude toward Otherworldly beings, it was imaginable that a thorough investigation would surely follow.

It’s likely that it wouldn’t be able to probe the Wizards’ Realm with its tentacles in the short term!

”Damn you, damn it! If you came to my world, I would cut your corpse into countless pieces!”

Yet, all of the giant eye’s cries at this moment, in actuality, held no threat.

Upon discovering this was an Otherworld life form, Angel stopped caring about what it was saying, intent on killing it.

Angel was not a follower of the Extreme Sect’s doctrines and wouldn’t kill an Otherworld life form upon sight, but such beings summoned through evil sacrificial rituals were usually of the Evil God variety, filled with greed and covetousness for the Wizards’ Realm. Against such Otherworld beings, running away was an option if outmatched, but if victory was achievable, extermination was necessary.

With this in mind, Angel slowly extended his hand, pointing his finger toward the gigantic eye.

A great surge of Magic Power whirled around him, a terrifying pressure emanating from his fingertip.

The giant eye was well aware that Angel was preparing to annihilate it directly. It was furious yet helpless; under current circumstances, it had no chance of turning the tide. It could only watch helplessly as terrifying energy gathered upon the slender fingers.

Just as the energy reached its peak, ready to unleash, Angel suddenly paused, his gaze shifting toward the altar ahead.

The giant eye, initially unsure of what was happening, followed its gaze downward... Instantly, its rage exploded.

The Undead that summoned it was actually reversing and devouring its energy!

”Damn you, damn you!”

”Traitor! Blasphemer!”

”I will kill you!”

Faced with the devouring by the Mirror Grudge, the rage of the giant eye was even more intense than when facing Angel. It was already adversaries with Angel, this time merely bad timing, and there would be a chance for revenge next time; however, it and the Mirror Grudge were originally allies, summoned here by it, and alive, it was one of its developed followers.

But now, it was biting back!

It was like a pet dog turning against its owner.

This drove the giant eye’s anger to an unprecedented level!

Yet, under Angel’s oppressive force, its greatest fury was reduced to impotent rage.

The devouring speed of the Mirror Grudge was immense, as the black shadows were originally part of its own body, containing a portion of its energy.

Just like using a straw to suck up water, the Mirror Grudge sucked the enormous black shadow behind it into its belly.

With the disappearance of the giant eye, the Mirror Grudge’s energy level began to surge wildly.

Its form even began to undergo changes.

Originally a simple human form with pale skin and a grim, hideous face. Now, its Soul Body began to undergo alterations, tripling in size, with limbs and head enlarging, the head attached to a corpulent and massive body, and the neck disappeared.

The skin turned from pale white to a ghostly green, even emitting a chilly glow.

Death aura transformed into a tangible black fog, swirling around its surroundings.

This was a phenomenon that appeared when Soul Force overflowed.

Without a doubt, the Mirror Grudge had ascended to a higher energy level!

The leap transition to a higher energy level brought with it not just a surge in power; the Mirror Grudge was also a Special Undead, and the mirror space was its Talent. Now, the control level over the mirror space was markedly enhanced.

Feeling a completely new kind of pressure, Angel’s eyes flashed with realization: ”So, this was your purpose all along.”

How could an undead possibly trust another?

Even less likely to trust another’s power, even if the other were an Otherworld Wild Deity.

Everything the Mirror Grudge did was from the lingering glow in its remaining memory... backlash, devour, transforming the Otherworld power summoned by the sacrifice into its own, that was its ultimate goal!
