Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2180: Chapter 2181: Little Underlings

It’s a pity that dreams and reality are separated by a chasm, fire creatures don’t dare come near him at all, even if he wants to fool them, there’s no place to use it.

As for forcibly capturing... he has no plan to do that for now, after all, he has recently built a friendly foundation with the life in the Region of Fire. Even if he really wants to break it, he’s at least going to wait until he gets Feng’s information first.

With full regret, Angel descends to the edge of the Lava Lake.

Dangross jumped off the Hand of Magic, using its index and middle fingers as feet, pattering to the edge of the Lava Lake, gazing into the wilds around, then turning back to Angel: ”Mr. Pat, Teacher Magu spends most time sleeping, I’ll first check if it’s awake.”

After Dangross finished speaking, it directly leaped into the lake, but did not sink, instead standing on the rolling surface of the lava lake, its two ”feet” moving rapidly, treading the waves.

Finally, Dangross floated to a relatively calm area of the lake.

This relative calmness is only made with the naked eye, Angel can clearly see from the perspective of spiritual power that Dangross has stopped next to a transparent ”sprout”.

The sprout floating on the lake is an extension of Magu’s organ.

After coming to the sprout, Dangross did not speak, but carefully approached. Just as Dangross was about to touch the sprout, the sprout suddenly swayed and its mouth filled with sharp teeth directly came down on Dangross.𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Dangross cried out in pain.

”Let go, let go! Teacher Magu, it’s me, it’s me!” Dangross called out.

But the sprout did not stop, still biting onto Dangross, Dangross used all its strength to force open the mouth, only then created an escape gap.

Dangross immediately leaped back to the lakeside swiftly.

As soon as Dangross got ashore, it collapsed on the scorched earth, panting heavily, looking exhausted and scared.

”Your Teacher Magu doesn’t seem too welcoming to you.” Angel glanced at the sprout in the distance which became silent again, then looked down at Dangross.

Dangross rested for a moment before catching its breath: ”That’s not it, Teacher Magu’s outer tentacle, when he sleeps, will automatically attack the surrounding active life.”

”Actually, as long as you dive under the lake, the tentacle won’t attack, but this Lava Lake is Teacher Magu’s domain, before diving it’s better to greet the tentacle.”

Angel: ”I see, but it’s still sleeping, do we need to wait for it to wake up?”

Dangross shook its head: ”No need, when I was bitten by the tentacle just now, I already sent a stream of fire along the tentacle’s esophagus into its body, surely the teacher will wake up after receiving it.”

What Dangross said was normal, but to Angel it feels like it farted in Magu’s esophagus.

Shaking off the unseemly image in his mind, Angel stood quietly by the lakeside with Dangross.

While waiting, Angel suddenly feels a slight movement at his feet.

Looking down, he finds a tiny crack in the scorched earth where a slug the size of an infant’s fist, covered in blue fire, is slowly crawling out.

After crawling out, the slug seems confused, spinning in place.

Seeing this, Dangross runs quickly over, using its thumb and pinky finger together, picks up the blue fire slug.

Dangross buries its palm in the blue fire slug, rubbing it non-stop. The scene looks like a human burying their face in a feline’s fur to breathe deeply.

After a long while, Dangross lifts its ”head,” using its pinky to pat the blue fire slug, then carefully places it back in the Lava Lake.

Watching the blue fire slug disappear, Dangross couldn’t help but ”laugh with hands on hips”: ”Today’s harvest is decent, I’ve collected another little follower, hahaha!”

Angel: ”...What is this?”

Dangross: ”That little spirit was just born out of the World’s Harmony, I just spoke to it, told it to become my follower, I can protect it in the future, then it agreed.”

Angel full of doubts: ”Do newborn Elemental Sprites already have Spirit Intelligence?”

Dangross: ”Of course not, not everyone is as smart as me!”

Angel: ”Then how would it agree to be your follower?”

Dangross with an ’it’s only natural’ expression: ”I left my flame in its body, it has recognized my flame, naturally becomes my follower!”

Are you collecting followers or coveting its body...

And after hearing Dangross’s words, Angel again pictures Dangross excreting into someone else’s body.

Angel looked at Dangross with suddenly a subtle expression, this subtlety carrying a hint of contempt.

Dangross didn’t realize Angel’s psychological change, it was looking around at the moment: ”Every time the World’s Harmony arrives, a lot of little elves are born, surely there are more nearby, I must seize the chance to collect more followers.”

Soon enough, Dangross discovers another newly born Smoke Tadpole, it excitedly wanted to collect a follower, but this Smoke Tadpole was swimming in mid-air smoke, it simply couldn’t reach it.

Frustrated, Dangross came to the lakeside, whistled. Half a minute later, a group of fluttering fire butterflies flew out from under the lake, under Dangross’s command, the fire butterflies landed on it, all spread their wings together and carried it up into the air.

Dangross was carried by the butterflies to the Smoke Tadpole’s side, then uses the same trick as before on the blue fire slug, embracing the tadpole in a fierce inhale.

In no time, Dangross landed on the ground, waved to the tadpole, which immediately drifted along the smoke beside it, affectionately snuggling up.

Clearly, once more an ignorant newborn little Sprite was corrupted by Dangross.

Dangross contentedly patted the tadpole’s head, signaled it to operate on its own, then manipulated the fire butterflies to search for Elemental Sprites around, once a target was found, it would quickly run to collect a follower.

After a good while, Dangross seemed to find no more newborn sprites nearby, then indicated the fire butterflies to return home, it went back to Angel’s side itself.

Angel witnessed the entire scene, filled with confusion towards Dangross’s behavior: ”Are those butterflies your followers?”

Dangross nodded: ”Of course, that group of butterflies was the little sprites born during the last time the World’s Harmony arrived.”

”Why do you collect so many followers?”...Are you really not coveting their bodies?

Dangross: ”A little brother is a little brother, he can help me fight.”

”Help you fight?” Angel seemed to recall something: ”Was that self-destructing furball monster your little brother too?”

Dangross said somewhat dissatisfied: ”What furball monster, that’s Kelonkcro, he used to be my little brother, now he’s my friend. And, he didn’t self-destruct, that’s his talent, he can explode the energy stored in him, his consciousness won’t be damaged and he can slowly recover in the future.”

Angel stroked his chin: ”Kelonkcro’s talent is pretty good, if I could recruit him...”

”Recruit for what?” Dangross seemed to hear something, looking at Angel in confusion.

Angel: ”Didn’t say anything, you misheard. Aside from Kelonkcro, was that fire giant also your little brother before?”

Speaking of the ”fire giant,” Dangross was immediately distracted, boasting proudly: ”That’s right, Duroche is the most powerful little brother I’ve recruited.”

”He doesn’t look like an Elemental Sprite, he seems to be an adult elemental creature, and he’s willing to recognize you as the boss?” Angel looked at Dangross suspiciously. The fire giant was defeated by Earl Mi, but that didn’t mean his strength was weak, just that Earl Mi was stronger.

The fire giant definitely had wizard-level strength. And Dangross, Angel hasn’t explored his strength... but even the advanced Hand of Magic, a second-level trick, he couldn’t break free. Converted to wizard strength, Dangross was at most just a first or second-level apprentice.

A junior apprentice taking an official wizard as a little brother seemed impossible to Angel.

The more Angel doubted, the more Dangross became proud: ”I wasn’t lying, Duroche is indeed my little brother, otherwise why would he listen to me earlier and fight that blooming wildcat?”

When Dangross mentioned the ”blooming wildcat,” he sneaked a peek at Toby sitting on top of Angel’s head.

Toby also looked over at this time, with eyes filled with approval and less vigilance, nodding in agreement. This title ”blooming wildcat” was extremely pleasing to him.

Receiving Toby’s praise, Dangross was also excited, his expression even more smug: ”Mr. Pat, if you don’t believe me, I’ll call Duroche over.”

After saying this, Dangross began whistling towards the lava lake, but after a long time, the surface of the lake remained calm, and the fire giant did not appear.

The calm lake surface made Dangross a bit embarrassed, his heart slightly panicked, feeling he lost face in front of the admiring Toby, so he flushed red and continued to whistle.

In the end, he still couldn’t bring out the fire giant, but rather a ”bean sprout” was blown to the edge of the lava lake by Dangross.

”Dangross, are you looking for me or for Duroche?” A slightly aged voice came from the bean sprout’s mouth.

Dangross straightened up immediately: ”Teacher Magu!”

”Hmm.” The aged voice softly hummed: ”You transmitted your flame through my contact, I thought you were looking for me, but how come I heard you calling out for Duroche?”

Dangross unconsciously rubbed his thumb and little finger together: ”I was indeed looking for Teacher Magu, because I brought Mr. Pat, and also the descendant of the ancestor Kalomchis... but, I also had something to find my ’little brother’ Duroche.”

Dangross emphasized his tone when talking about ’little brother’.

Magu manipulated the bean sprout to look behind Dangross, saying slowly: ”Ah, a human...”

”However, I only see one human, where is that so-called descendant of Kalomchis?”

Dangross pointed to Toby: ”Over there.”

Toby also stood up accordingly, raising his head in a proud manner.

Angel, whose head was aching from being stepped on by Toby, resisted the desire to pull Toby down and greeted Magu: ”Mr. Magu, my name is Angel Pat. I came to the Tidal World following in the footsteps of the Savior, introduced by His Majesty the New King, hoping to meet you.”

Magu shifted his gaze from Dangross to Angel, remaining silent for a while.

Just when Angel thought Magu wasn’t going to speak, the contact moved again and suddenly opened its mouth and bit the unsuspecting Dangross.

Dangross was startled, suppressing the pain from the bite, quickly jumped away.

After a while, Magu’s voice came again: ”Ah, sorry, I accidentally took a nap just now. Although I’m old, my spirit is still fine, that was an accident.”

Angel: ”...”

Magu laughed heartily: ”Where were we again? Ah, never mind, you should come to me and talk. Using the contact to communicate is too tiring... Zzzzz...”

Hearing the snores coming through, Angel was left with a feeling of regret. Somehow, Magu seemed a bit unreliable.

Dangross awkwardly laughed: ”Teacher Magu seems to have fallen asleep again... but it doesn’t matter, he has already agreed for us to enter the lake. Shall we go down?”

As soon as the words were spoken, before Dangross could do anything, the bean sprout bit him again.

Dangross shouted furiously: ”Why is it me again!”

The bean sprout swayed, and Magu’s voice came again: ”Ah, I took another nap. Dangross, what are you talking about? Oh, I remember, you were asking about Duroche?”

”Duroche is resting in the lake, although it was heavily injured before, under the comfort of the World’s Harmony, it has fully recovered. In fact, it has even achieved a new breakthrough,” said Magu, clicking his tongue: ”It has turned adversity into opportunity, I see that its elemental core has begun to transform, maybe when it awakens, it will give birth to Spirit Intelligence!”

Dangross seemed fine at first, but when Magu finished speaking, Dangross froze: ”Giving birth to Spirit Intelligence? Duroche might give birth to Spirit Intelligence?! Teacher Magu, is this true?”

Magu: ”Of course it’s true, currently there is a high chance that Duroche will awaken Spirit Intelligence. Speaking of which, once Duroche awakens Spirit Intelligence, your position as the boss will be at risk.”

Magu chuckled, with a hint of watching the scene unfold. However, his laughter soon ceased, followed by the return of snores, and the bean sprout bit Dangross again.

This time, Dangross didn’t struggle, despairingly muttering: ”Duroche is actually going to awaken Spirit Intelligence, uhuh, how can this be... he’s my number one little brother, noooo!”

Angel looked at Dangross’s despairing eyes, and he basically understood why Duroche, an official wizard, recognized Dangross as the boss: it was entirely because Duroche hadn’t awakened Spirit Intelligence yet.

However, though understanding, Angel still admired Dangross.

Dangross was able to have Duroche as his little brother, even if it was because Duroche hadn’t awakened Spirit Intelligence yet, it’s still a remarkable feat.

Perhaps this is Dangross’s unique talent?
