Chapter 2176: Chapter 2177: Savior from Beyond the Heavens

Angel’s figure flickered and appeared on the stone with the Old King’s carving.

After standing firm, he quickly tore open a Magic Rune Scroll and set up an energy defense field nearby.

Although this place has seemingly become the only safe zone amidst the raging battlefield, it’s still difficult to avoid the impact of explosions completely. Moreover, fire elemental crystals are continuously falling from the sky, and just a slight touch can lead to an ”artistic” expression.

Therefore, to prevent any issues with the stone that might involve the mini passageway, Angel added a defense field as insurance.

However, Angel’s actions were interpreted differently by Dangross —

Just after Angel had praised the greatness of the Hearthfire Xiluya, seeing the explosion threatening the image of the Old King, he rushed here to protect it without hesitation.

”He... is showing his respect to the Old King!”

After reaching this conclusion, the previous anger Dangross felt towards Angel somewhat dissipated. However, unwilling to admit it had accused the wrong person, it remained silent. It held its breath, hoping to step in and plead for clemency for the ”suspected spies” once the new king ended the battle.

Dangross was filled with mixed emotions and didn’t want to speak; meanwhile, Angel remembered something and wanted to get answers from Dangross.

While discretely deploying Illusion Nodes as a backup, Angel subtly shifted the topic to the drawing on the stone.

Since he was already at the stone, Angel wanted to take the opportunity to find out if the fire-element lives were aware of an exit here?

Perhaps because of Angel’s apparent respect for the Old King, Dangross surprisingly didn’t maintain its usual pride and answered a few questions.

Angel couldn’t fathom why Dangross had suddenly changed, but seeing it cooperate, he quickly steered the conversation to the matter he truly wished to inquire about.

”...This earring looks very similar to the new king’s nose ring.”

Angel seemed to point at the earring, but upon close inspection, it was clear that the location he pointed to was exactly where the mini passageway was.

Dangross glanced at it, replying nonchalantly, ”That nose ring was handed down from the Old King to the new king.”

Observing Dangross’s gaze carefully, Angel realized it did not look toward the mini passageway, confirming Dangross was indeed unaware of its existence.

Then, could other elemental creatures possibly know?

As Angel pondered, Dangross seemed to think of something and spoke proactively: ”I once secretly asked Teacher Magu about the origin of the Old King’s earring. Teacher Magu said, a long time ago, it was a gift from an otherworldly savior.”

An otherworldly savior?!

Angel’s pupils contracted, could this refer to Feng?

He only intended to verify whether elemental creatures had discovered the mini passageway, not expecting to obtain such crucial information.

Dangross is truly impressive!

”Otherworldly? Savior?” Angel feigned ignorance and looked at Dangross.

”You don’t even know this?” Dangross shot a glance at Angel with a ’how ignorant can you be’ look, then continued: ”Otherworldly refers to outside this world. Teacher Magu explained there are other worlds beyond ours. I’ve never been, but I’ve heard they’re different from ours.”

”As for the savior, you definitely should know. A long, long time ago, there was an elemental upheaval that swept across the entire world, shattering all beings who reached Monarch level and above on the continent. Luckily, the Old King was only a half-step Monarch; otherwise, he would’ve been engulfed by the disaster... This disaster was ultimately ended by an otherworldly visitor, who brought a vast amount of elements from outside, calming the world disaster. That person is who we refer to as the savior.”

Angel: ”Does this savior have a name?”

Dangross thought for a moment, then shook its head: ”There probably is, but I don’t know it. Perhaps, Teacher Magu knows.”

Angel asked about Teacher Magu’s identity, and though Dangross warily questioned why Angel wanted to know the Sage’s name, it was deceived into revealing the answer.

Teacher Magu is a fire elemental being from the same era as Hearthfire Xiluya, the final resting place of countless ’sprouts’ in the Lava Lake, the Sage of the Region of Fire, and Dangross’s teacher.

Angel initially considered kidnapping this Teacher Magu if he were small like Dangross... but learning that Teacher Magu is so massive it occupies the entire Lava Lake, unable to even move, Angel abandoned the thought.

As for personally visiting Teacher Magu to ask about the past, that’s even more unrealistic... Considering they are currently absolute enemies.

Angel sighed, temporarily setting aside thoughts of Teacher Magu, and returned his mind to the previous mentions of ”world disaster” and ”otherworldly savior.”

Although Dangross described only a few details, Angel could somewhat piece together the narrative.

The ”world disaster” can essentially be confirmed as a catastrophe caused by plane fusion.

Once plane fusion begins, the merging plane undergoes a struggle of the world wills. To prevent interference from powerful beings of the subsidiary plane causing the fusion to fail, the main world’s will unleashes a horrific disaster in the subsidiary plane, annihilating all high-order creatures and strong beings within, leaving only lower energy level life.

This fits Dangross’s account: elemental creatures above Monarch level in the Tides Realm perished in the disaster.

As for the otherworldly savior, it should indeed be Feng.

According to Dangross, Feng possibly did something, introducing a massive elemental energy from the outside, quelling the world-destroying catastrophe. This also resulted in the Old Earth Continent becoming a place devoid of elements.

However, Angel is somewhat curious, how did Feng achieve this?

The commotion of plane fusion is no small affair; how did he manage to conceal the fluctuations of the fusion from the Wizards’ Realm entirely?

”Perhaps, it’s a legendary method?” Angel couldn’t figure it out, so he temporarily set it aside.

...

The Illusion Nodes Angel secretly set up are almost in place, now just waiting for the right opportunity.

However, the battle in the sky remains at a stalemate; under the elemental tides, no sign of victory for either side is visible.

While waiting for the opportunity, Angel continued to extract information from Dangross.

Since Dangross knew little about the ”otherworldly savior,” Angel mainly focused on the Old King’s image.

He wanted to know how other elemental creatures regarded the image of the Old King.

Dangross found it strange: ”We hold it in great respect; we usually avoid this place to prevent our fire from scorching the image.”

”Have you ever thought of protecting this image?”

Dangross looked at Angel with an even more puzzled expression: ”Why would we protect it?”

Angel was rendered speechless; he couldn’t very well say that there’s a passageway to the outside world hidden within, could he?

After thinking for a moment, Angel said, ”After all, he’s your most revered Old King, isn’t it?”

”Although this image is indeed significant, the Old King’s flame is burning all around us, within us; it has never left...” Dangross replied.

To Dangross, even in death, the flame remains in this region, so in its view, the Old King never truly left but merely changed his form to accompany his descendants.

Angel could roughly understand Dangross’s logic, so he stopped questioning it.

However, from Dangross’s attitude, Angel could surmise that the mini passageway to the outside world likely remains undiscovered. Even if someone knows, it might only be those elemental creatures from the Old King’s era with an understanding.

Having asked all the necessary questions, the conversation between Angel and Dangross became less deliberate.

They discussed a few matters concerning the Tides Realm, but unfortunately, Dangross’s knowledge and experience were limited; otherwise, it wouldn’t have mistakenly labeled them as spies from Frost Iser.

Nonetheless, from Dangross’s answers, Angel unraveled a mystery that had been plaguing his mind.

Why did Illusion Techniques have little effect on elemental creatures?

In reality, it’s not that Illusion Techniques were ineffective. Instead, this region is saturated with fire elemental energy; suddenly, finding an area moving without any fire elemental energy naturally exposes its position.

Resolving this is quite simple: fill the area concealed by the illusion with corresponding elemental energy, and naturally, one can conceal their figure.

But this only works for concealing while stationary. To move and remain concealed requires extremely strong control over elemental power; otherwise, during movement, if the elements in the space become unevenly distributed, other elemental creatures can easily sense the flaw.

This information greatly helped Angel.

He was not strong in elemental control himself, but Earl Mi was very strong. In the future, he could completely let Earl Mi control the elements in the air while he simply used the illusionary realm to conceal, preventing any risk of being discovered.

As Angel was envisioning a bright future, a fierce firelight illuminated their faces.

Looking up, they saw a fireball descending from the sky, crashing down a hundred meters away and causing a huge explosion upon contact with the ground.

The explosion created a crater dozens of meters wide, and a large amount of lava overflowed, quickly turning the crater into a lava lake.

The aftermath of the explosion also rippled, directly affecting their surroundings.

Fortunately, Angel had set up a defensive field; otherwise, the leftover shock alone could have destroyed this rock.

Dangross shouted angrily at the sky battlefield, expressing his dissatisfaction.

Angel’s eyes flickered as he secretly began linking the illusion nodes he had previously released.

This descending fireball seemed to be an accidental impact, but in reality, it was a signal from Earl Mi, and during the explosion, Angel had already grasped his intent.

Earl Mi was preparing to break the deadlock and create chaos.

Once chaos erupted, it would be their best chance to escape!

The signs of opportunity had appeared; Angel appeared calm, but his mind was already tense.

In the sky, as the two flaming shadows entangled and another exploding separation occurred, Earl Mi did not continue to charge but hovered mid-air, the Blue Lantern Flower swaying gently with strange changes in the flames on his body.

From bright flames, they dimmed, as if injected with a dark countercurrent.

Midir of the Magic Fire observed Earl Mi’s transformation, a glimmer flashing in his eyes: ”Interesting... Is this your new ability?”

Earl Mi still did not answer, but gently stepped into the void, and the dark fire erupted instantly.

A massive number of fire elemental crystals were involved and exploded, but instead of acrid smoke, a thick black fog followed.

Almost instantly, the sky turned dark.

For fire element creatures, their perception is not solely reliant on their eyes. As long as there is fire elemental energy around, they can observe their surroundings.

Midir initially assumed the same, but when he truly tried to sense, he discovered that even with fire elemental energy, everything around was still pitch black.

As if shrouded in dust.

”This isn’t pure flame...” Midir paused: ”It seems to mix in the Charny of Fallen Soil’s ability?”

The intertwining of fire and earth elements constructed this dim fog.

At this point, Midir couldn’t help but sigh internally. Starting with frost, then displaying flame power, and now even showing the power of the earth—no wonder that fool Dangross mistook them for spies.

The emergence of the power of the earth indicated that the opponent’s energy had begun to restore; they no longer had to rely solely on flames to fight, which was not good news for him.

While he didn’t actually think of them as spies, since they had intruded into his territory, first he needed to defeat them to get the truth from them.

It seemed he had to get serious.

Midir of the Magic Fire exhaled a long breath, his magic fire rising once again, as the horns atop his head that had nearly materialized now seemed to transform into two towering, twisted pillars of fire.

His form rose from three meters directly to ten meters. The wings of flame flapped rapidly, stirring all the black fire dust away in the fierce fire winds.

Soon, the surrounding darkness was either blown away or burned to charred ashes, scattering to the ground.

In Midir’s narrow eyes flashed a gleam of excitement: now, it was truly the time for a decisive battle—

Midir looked toward Earl Mi, who was suspended across from him, slowly opening his mouth.

A dark purple breath of magic fire, capable of burning even space, spewed toward Earl Mi.

Yet, Earl Mi effortlessly dodged aside.

Midir knew well that to defeat such an opponent, a single breath of magic fire would surely not suffice, but what if there were hundreds of such attacks?

Midir was honored with the prefix ”Magic Fire” because of his magic fire breath!

In the past, he wouldn’t dare waste energy like this, but now, amidst the elemental tide, he wasn’t worried about energy depletion at all!

With that thought, terrifying streams of magic fire breath rushed toward Earl Mi.

However...

Earl Mi dodged them all without a scratch.

Midir was momentarily stunned, then launched another hundred shots.

Though Earl Mi’s evasive movements were somewhat clumsy, he still found that singular escape route amidst the dense attacks.

Midir began to sense something amiss, as Earl Mi’s previous speed and capabilities didn’t match up to his current performance.

Most importantly, why wasn’t Earl Mi counterattacking?

Midir hesitated for a moment, gently casting a small flame to ignite the surrounding ”fire rain.”

The explosion of the fire rain would not harm Earl Mi, who was transformed into flames.

Yet, Earl Mi continued to dodge, and dodged extremely awkwardly.

Midir extended his perception to the surroundings.

——During the previous battle, he wouldn’t dare to do so, but something was clearly off now, and he intended to use his perception to touch Earl Mi.

Yet, in his perception, there was no sign of Earl Mi in front of him.

Only air and some odd energies.

Midir was stunned for a moment, then quickly looked down, finding that Angel, who had stood on the rock before, was nowhere to be seen.

By this point, how could Midir not understand? The Earl Mi before him was not the real Earl Mi at all, but just an illusion.

The real Earl Mi had seized the opportunity during the previous darkness to escape!

He’d been tricked!

Midir realized that even if he went searching now, he likely wouldn’t find them, but he had to search.

Midir disregarded the illusion opposite him, descending to the ground to prepare for searching for traces of Angel and Earl Mi.

However, just then, a fierce firelight suddenly erupted from a distant direction.
