Chapter 2172: Chapter 2173: Positioning

Earl Mi heard the curses, but he didn’t pay attention, because the voice came from a fire giant whom he had already defeated, now struggling to survive in the Frost Domain.

To Earl Mi, the howls and reproaches of the defeated are pale and meaningless.

But on the other side, Angel showed an extremely subtle expression after hearing the curses.

”This voice... why does it sound a bit familiar?” Angel’s gaze fell on the fire giant kneeling in the vast snowy plains, with a probing light in his eyes: not only was the tone similar, but even the way he muttered ’Frost Iser’s spy,’ the intonation, the ending, and the anger were all exactly the same.

”Are you that silly... fuzzy ball monster?” Angel’s figure flashed, appearing above the fire giant, looking down from above.

”Damned spy, I won’t believe your words anymore, nor will I answer any of your questions!” A sharp yet slightly immature voice came through.

Angel’s gaze became even more peculiar: ”Really?”

”Yes, I won’t answer your questions.”

Angel nodded and said, ”I remember you self-destructed before, didn’t you die?”

”Who self-destructed! I didn’t self-destruct! That was Kelonkcro’s talent...” At this point, the fire giant paused, seemingly realizing something: ”Argh! Damn it! You’re trying to trick me, the smart Dangross won’t fall for it!”

Angel clapped his hands: ”Dangross, you’re indeed very clever. I believe, if your ancestor Kalomchis heard your words, he would certainly applaud your cleverness just like I am now.”

”Hmph!” That’s natural.

Angel: ”...”

A familiar taste, a familiar formula, and familiar ancestors.

This guy named ”Dangross” spoke with a tone full of pride in having seen through a ploy.

But he completely didn’t think that whether his own identity or that of the fuzzy ball monster before, he exposed everything in just a few words.

Angel could almost confirm that this Dangross was definitely the silly one who had conversed with him by the Lava Lake earlier.

However, from Dangross’s words, Angel could hear that the fuzzy ball monster who self-destructed by the Lava Lake wasn’t it but a fire element creature named Kelonkcro.

But Angel recalled that at the time, he didn’t sense any other elemental creature on the fuzzy ball monster.

Was it a spiritual possession type?

No, by the Lava Lake, the fuzzy ball monster self-destructed to escape and convey a message to the so-called new king. If it was spiritual possession, there would be no need to self-destruct; it could directly transmit information using its main body.

So, at that time, the main body of Dangross was actually trapped in the ice just like Kelonkcro.

So, the main body of Dangross is actually very small?

If that’s really the case... Angel’s gaze couldn’t help but sweep over this massive fire giant.

Dangross shouldn’t be the fire giant. It might be hidden on the fire giant’s body?

While Angel was pondering, the battle in the sky resumed, with a fiery phoenix like an arrow, cutting through the dim sky engulfed in smoke, recklessly storming into the Frost Domain and launching an attack on Earl Mi.

The fiery phoenix’s attack was extremely fierce; not only could its formidable claws threaten Earl Mi, but each flap of its wings could stir up a catastrophic fire tornado.

Previously, Earl Mi faced the fire giant head-on, but with this fiery phoenix, he chose to use his agile form to hold it off. This was partly to deal with other fire element creatures and also indicated that the fiery phoenix’s attack strength, in terms of point-to-point destruction, exceeded that of the fire giant.

The bird beak opened, spraying a blast of fire at Earl Mi.

Earl Mi responded with an ice blade, then immediately flashed to another side, but before he could settle, a deer-shaped fire creature charged at his back with sharp antlers.

After dodging, the fiery phoenix stirred up a fire tornado again, with a group of flame sparrows hovering at high altitude taking the opportunity to launch a barrage of flames at him. Normally, Earl Mi could dodge, but the fire tornado blew the flame barrage into disorder, with no trajectory to follow, causing Earl Mi to get hit several times.

Even the fiery phoenix and other fire element creatures got hit by the random projectiles. However, since they were flame creatures, getting hit by the flame barrage did nothing.

Earl Mi, on the other hand, didn’t look great; once or twice was fine, but after getting hit several times, slight sparks ignited on his bluish fur.

Angel was also paying attention to the battle in the sky. He could see that Earl Mi should have no problem dealing with the fiery phoenix; rather, it was those scattered fire element creatures causing him some minor troubles.

Even Earl Mi noticed this, and he shook his Blue Lantern Flower, lowering the temperature of the Frost Domain once more and snowflakes began to flutter. These snowflakes were compressed using extremely pure energy, and when they landed on the fiery phoenix, they could stir up its flame shield; when they fell on other fire element creatures, they directly froze them with the snowflakes as the center.

The sparrow group that had been creating fire barrages had a few directly frozen into sculptures by the snowflakes, falling from high altitude.

Because of the snowflakes’ appearance, all the fire element creatures began to avoid them.

However, this could only ease the situation for a moment, as more fire element creatures would arrive.

Seeing this, Angel directly released a large number of Nightmare Illusion Nodes, constructing a giant illusionary realm based on the Frost Domain.

The illusionary realm took effect on fire element creatures whose energy level hadn’t reached Wizard Level, trapping them in the mist, stumbling and unable to find the exit.

Even the fiery phoenix at the Wizard Level was deceived by the illusionary realm, frequently misjudging Earl Mi’s position, giving Earl Mi a chance to recover.

”What’s going on, why are you all spinning in place, there are snowflakes, dodge them!”

”Phoenix, you’re aiming the wrong way! It’s not that direction!”

Dangross had been excited earlier seeing Earl Mi repeatedly hit, but now, discovering the battle was veering in a strange direction, he became anxious and angry.

While Dangross was worn out by the changes in the battle situation, Angel continuously used spiritual power to scan every inch of the fire giant’s body, seeking evidence to support his hypothesis.

However, before he could find Dangross’s main body, another giant beast burst into the Frost Domain.

It was the previous magma giant whale.

”Do you need me to help contain it?” Angel’s voice transmitted into Earl Mi’s ears.

Earl Mi was still dueling with the fiery phoenix, but the Blue Lantern Flower above his head conveyed his thought to Angel.

”No need.”

Earl Mi rejected Angel’s proposal.

From the thought sent from the Blue Lantern Flower, Angel vaguely felt that Earl Mi was showing extreme welcome at the appearance of the magma giant whale.

Initially, Angel didn’t understand why Earl Mi was excited about the appearance of the magma whale.

Until—

The flames spewed by the fire phoenix were blocked by the magma whale; and when the enormous tail flipper of the magma whale slapped the body of the phoenix, Angel began to understand.

Two gigantic creatures lacking coordination, simultaneously battling Earl Mi, were completely hindering each other.

Not only did they fail to leverage their numerical advantage, but due to their enormous size, they occasionally obstructed each other, making it difficult to release their ultimate moves, thereby reducing Earl Mi’s combat risk.

This combination posed less threat to Earl Mi compared to the fire phoenix accompanied by a group of small fire elementals.

Of course, the main reason for all this was the precise control exercised by Earl Mi.

Using agile movements, he constrained the battle within an extremely small area, compressing the fighting space for the fire phoenix and magma whale, making it difficult for them to maneuver.

If it were someone else, it probably wouldn’t be possible to achieve such precise compression and containment.

Under such circumstances, if the fire phoenix or magma whale withdrew, it might pose a bigger threat. But instead, they both refused to retreat.

Witnessing this, Angel felt more at ease; he spread out illusion nodes to set up trapdoors for follow-up actions, while continuing to investigate the situation with the flame giant, searching for Dangross.

The flame giant now kneeled in the snow, its eyes tightly closed, concentrating all thoughts and energy on healing its damaged elemental core.

Having discovered the flame giant’s actions, Angel became more confident in his hypothesis.

Who would silently mend a fatal wound while expressing intense emotions towards the skyward battle?

Evidently, Dangross is not the flame giant and might be hiding somewhere within its body.

Dangross: ”How did you collide with Kelonkcro again? Phoenix, get out of the way!”

Angel: ”Is Kelonkcro the magma whale?”

Dangross snorted twice, reluctant to respond to Angel, keeping its eyes fixed on the aerial battle.

Angel wasn’t annoyed; he smiled amiably and engaged in conversation with Dangross, steering the dialogue towards the battle between the fire phoenix and magma whale, avoiding any inquiries for intelligence.

Angel: ”Kelonkcro actually attacked Phoenix, tsk tsk tsk, internal conflict. The fiery feathers on Phoenix’s head have stood up; it looks really angry.”

Dangross said discontentedly: ”It wasn’t Kelonkcro who attacked Phoenix! It was Phoenix’s claw that first touched Kelonkcro’s tail fin, causing Kelonkcro to mistakenly believe it was under attack and retaliate instinctively.”

Angel chuckled but didn’t proceed with the conversation. However, inwardly he thought: Being able to see the fire phoenix’s claw touching the magma whale indicates Dangross has found quite a good viewpoint.

The right ear and chest-abdomen area of the flame giant would not have visibility of this scene.

Seeing Dangross stopped speaking, Angel continued: ”I thought the internal conflict would last long, but didn’t expect it to end so quickly... the battle has reignited.”

Dangross: ”Hmph, although I dislike Phoenix because it’s the subservient of the new king, Kelonkcro and Phoenix have a personal relationship, they couldn’t have a conflict! Frost Iser spy, what you wish to see is impossible, give it up!”

Angel inwardly raised his thumb, admiring this simpleton’s greatness; without asking anything, he indirectly extracted new intelligence.

Perhaps having Angel, the spy, present, made Dangross excited, commenting further on the aerial battle with lofty insight.

Dangross: ”See, the wind tornadoes on Phoenix’s right flank help Kelonkcro fend off the ice spikes. They could never have an internal conflict!”

Angel nodded with a smile, while continuing his analysis inwardly: From my position, I can only see the wind tornado with the naked eye. The ability to track the ice spikes’ trajectory indicates that areas below the right forehead, half of the left forehead, and eighty percent of the spine region can be excluded from the search.

Angel relied on this method to gradually narrow down Dangross’s location.

Throughout the process, Dangross was completely unaware that its casual descriptions of the battle seemed to gradually expose its real location.

As Angel was narrowing down the area, the aerial battle also evolved.

After consecutive clashes, the fire phoenix and magma whale gradually began to coordinate, attempting to break through Earl Mi’s blockade.

Earl Mi also knew that once they formed any cooperation, even without breaking through the blockade, the situation would turn against him.

To avoid losing the initiative, Earl Mi had to finish the battle quickly.

But wanting to end the fight swiftly wasn’t easy; he had to locate the elemental cores of the fire phoenix and magma whale to ensure a direct hit.

The elemental core of the fire phoenix was confirmed by Earl Mi during previous test combats, located in its head below the middle feather among the row of fiery feathers on the forehead.

However, the elemental core of the magma whale remained undiscovered.

According to the original plan, with a few more rounds, Earl Mi could pinpoint the magma whale’s elemental core.

But he didn’t have much time left.

He had to devise an alternative strategy to locate the magma whale’s elemental core in the shortest possible time.

After realizing the need to modify the strategy, Earl Mi quickly formulated the next plan due to his rich battle experience.

He intended to use himself as bait to create chaos, enduring minimal injury, and upon contacting the opponent’s energy output channel, directly inject his energy into the conduit, determining the location of the elemental core based on the energy output position.

Without hesitation, Earl Mi acted upon his thoughts.

After several clashes, Earl Mi exposed a vulnerability, slightly losing balance for a moment, which immediately allowed the fire phoenix to seize the opportunity, blocking Earl Mi’s retreat to a safe location.

Simultaneously, the magma whale blocked the other side, trapping Earl Mi in the center.

Earl Mi instantly found himself in a disadvantageous position.

The fire phoenix’s eyes gleamed with excitement; having been suppressed for so long, it finally found a chance!

Even though Earl Mi decided to be the bait, he could not afford to be injured without a fight. He once again drew upon the remaining awakening power within him...

The fire phoenix sensed the anomaly in the surrounding energy waves and urgently cried out: ”It’s trying to... Damn, Kelonkcro, act quickly!”

The magma whale had just trapped Earl Mi, and had yet to react to the unfolding situation. However, knowing the fire phoenix was smarter than it, it didn’t hesitate to open its mouth and spew magma breath towards Earl Mi...
