Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2163: Chapter 2164: Simos Hide

The gondola traveled along the sea route of the Whalebone Sea, reaching the Thousand Island Nation—Hailan by dusk.

Angel did not pause, continuing to fly south along Hailan’s defense line.

Before nightfall, he finally touched down on the long-missed Old Soil Continent.

This time, Angel’s flight path was flawless, landing directly at Port Vichy, the northernmost point of the Goldfinch Empire.

Although it was nightfall, because Sea Moon City is a port city, and waterway traffic is busy this season, the residents, who earn their living mainly during this period, do not sleep early.

People journeying from north and south gather here, creating an illusion of ever-growing nightlife prosperity in Sea Moon City. Even the food street selling snacks is busier than it was during the day.

Angel quietly landed on a small snack street off the trade street in Capital Sambia.

As he descended, Toby excitedly flapped its wings, circling above Angel’s head. After all, the reason for this descent was Toby’s cravings.

Angel blended silently into the crowd of the snack street with Toby, while Earl Mi quietly merged into Angel’s shadow, continuing his role as the guardian.

On the snack street, Angel bought Toby various flavored dried fish, and he didn’t forget to buy a few pieces of roasted meat to feed Earl Mi in the shadow, although Earl Mi did not require sustenance from food.

After eating, Angel took Toby to stroll along the trade street, and at a doll shop, he bought Toby several sets of changeable dresses.

Everything finished, it was already the early hours of the morning.

Angel thought for a bit, deciding not to leave immediately, and instead rented a room for the night at the Bounty Guild’s inn to rest.

The so-called rest was primarily for Toby, whereas Angel used this time to cut out the Simos skin that Jun left him.

Simos, also known as the ”Void Creature,” is a rare magical creature that roams the endless void. Its skin, even unrefined, can obscure spatial fluctuations and cause most energy attacks to deviate.

Because of its unique properties, after extensive deliberation, Angel decided to use Simos’s skin to refine Earl Mi’s ”Heart Protector.”

However, refining Simos’s skin is not easy, as it requires special materials and specific environments, which Angel currently did not have. So, Angel was simply taking the first step, cutting it out for Earl Mi to use for the time being, and would refine it later.

Just cutting the Simos’s skin took Angel the whole night. By morning, he had barely managed to cut out a shape to cover the distortion seed on Earl Mi’s chest.

After finishing the cut, Angel checked out of the room and left Sea Moon City.

After leaving, Angel headed south, preparing to go to the Goldfinch Empire’s capital, Sambia.

Angel’s travel to the Old Soil Continent this time was primarily to visit the Tidal World. He wanted to check if there was a reason for the element disappearance of the Old Soil Continent there, and also to see... what the Magic Painter Wizard had left in the Tidal World.

At noon, Angel arrived at Sambia.

He did not alert anyone, silently arriving at the Shannon Royal Palace. A sweep of his spiritual power within the palace locked onto a location.

...

Tawil Shannon, the seventh princess of the Goldfinch Empire, would typically be cherished and pampered beyond measure. However, in the Shannon Royal Family, she was a maverick.

She did not love any rouge, nor did she enjoy socializing. Her favorite activity every day was dueling with the members of the knight guard.

Today was no different.

Princess Shannon spent the entire morning sparring with different knights. It wasn’t until noon that she removed her armor and started polishing her bright red glowing slender curved sword with specially made fire oil.

This sword, soaked in treasure liquid, was a Flame Sword and her favorite weapon, which she would protect for half an hour each day.

The protection process involved continuously submerging it in fire oil.

Her personal maid offered fire oil while sharing the latest capital gossip with Princess Shannon. Generally, Shannon only listened and would not respond unless it was a particularly special topic, in which case she might say a word or two.

But today, to the surprise of her maid, Shannon spoke up just as she began to mention gossip about a baron.

However, Shannon did not continue the topic, instead pushing aside the offered fire oil: ”Go invite my father, I have important matters to discuss with him.”

As a personal maid, she didn’t know what had happened, but she had rarely seen Shannon’s face so serious. She quickly nodded, set down the fire oil, and ran towards the depths of the palace.

After the maid left, Shannon took a deep breath and walked out of the training hall.

She dismissed all the knights along the way, finding herself alone in the garden.

As she stepped into the garden, she saw a familiar figure standing amid the flowers.

”Honorable Wizard?” Shannon approached and called softly.

Angel was helping Toby into a new courtly gauze dress, and upon hearing Shannon’s call, he turned around to look.

Shannon wore a tight-fitting white lace blouse and leather shorts. Her sweat-dampened bangs, the pink flush from exercise on her cheeks, combined with the curved sword in her hand, presented a refreshingly heroic look.

Angel smiled warmly and nodded at Shannon: ”Long time no see.”

After the greeting, Angel noticed a hint of confusion and wariness in Shannon’s eyes. Angel seemed to realize something, gently pulling at his facial skin, which snapped back with his hair turning from red to blonde, instantly reverting his appearance.

Seeing the familiar face, Shannon finally showed a smile: ”When I first heard your voice, I was startled, but I didn’t expect it to be actually you.”

Back then, during Hailan’s full invasion of the Empire, the heavily pregnant Princess Shannon was trapped in the mountains by Hailan soldiers. Angel happened to pass by and rescued her.

Because of this life-saving grace, Shannon’s eyes held a touch of gratitude when facing Angel.

”Did you come today for... that matter?” Shannon paused, glancing at the long sword in her hand.

”Yes, I came this time to explore the secret hidden behind the treasure liquid,” Angel nodded, having mentioned upon his departure before that he would return, so Shannon deducing his purpose for being here was expected.

Shannon: ”Entering the treasure vault requires my father’s consent. I’ve just sent the maid to invite him; he should be here soon.”

Angel nodded, knowing the treasure vault belonged to the Shannon Royal Family, and respecting the owner’s wishes before entering was necessary.

Soon, Princess Shannon’s father, the current king of the Goldfinch Empire, hurried over.

Rosé expressed surprise upon seeing Angel. However, as the ruler of a nation, he quickly regained composure. After learning of Angel’s purpose, Rosé did not hesitate and promptly led Angel to the royal treasure vault.

Inside, Angel once more saw the Skin Scroll the Magic Painter Wizard had left for the Shannon royal family.
