Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1996: Chapter 1997: Publishing a Task

Angel truly didn’t expect that this small test for checking ”consciousness” would be so simple for these two people. Initially, he only thought Babaya had a chance of passing, but who knew Kudodo also made it.

However, on second thought, this is actually good. At least it shows that both of them have no issues with focus, being pure of mind and also flexible. Even if they don’t participate in the research on the Mother Tree Network, cultivating them as assistants is still qualified.

When returning to the inner hall of the Spirit Tree Hall, Angel could still hear Kudodo’s unconcealed laughter behind him.

Like Babaya, Kudodo also joined the research on the Mother Tree Network. For Babaya, this research is her chance; for Kudodo, seeing Babaya revitalize and working with her is something to be happy about.

For this reason, even though Kudodo tried hard to conceal his inner excitement, the laughter escaping from the corners of his mouth still showed how thrilled he was.

Babaya didn’t understand why Kudodo kept chuckling, nor did she bother to guess Kudodo’s thoughts, instead approaching Angel: ”Sir, I might need to leave for a bit, I need to go to the Task Hall to hand over the tasks on hand before I can report to the Illusion Demon Island.”

”I don’t live on the Illusion Demon Island right now. As for handing over tasks...” Angel thought for a moment: ”Follow me.”

Angel walked towards a side door of the main hall. When he opened the side door, he saw a bald leaf not far away, on which the Tree Spirit lay relaxedly on a rocking chair, swaying back and forth leisurely.

Upon seeing Angel coming, the Tree Spirit smiled and waved at him.

Angel respectfully bowed: ”Lord Tree Spirit, you told me before that I could issue and accept tasks directly here with you?”

The Tree Spirit nodded: ”That’s correct.”

Because the information on the Bone Card needed the Tree Spirit’s abilities for integration, the information at the Task Hall was connected to the Spirit Tree Hall.

The Tree Spirit looked at Angel curiously: ”You finally decided to take on a task?”

”I haven’t yet considered taking up tasks. However, I want to issue a task.”

The Tree Spirit let out a sound: ”Issue a task? What identity are you planning to use to post it in the Task Hall?”

”No need to post it in the Task Hall, just make it a private task.” After speaking, Angel looked back at the two little ones behind him: ”Let them take it.”

Actually, Angel could have simply taken Kudodo and Babaya without issuing a task. However, he knew that even at the apprentice stage, there were certain task indicators.

Since he wanted them to follow him for research, he might as well resolve their task indicators along the way.

So, issuing a task and letting them take it was the most direct way.

Upon hearing Angel, the Tree Spirit immediately understood his meaning and nodded: ”Sure, you can state the task details, and I will bypass the Task Hall and update it in their Bone Card records.”

”As for the task introduction, just say I have a research project, looking for helpers, and it might take about two months.” Pausing for a moment, Angel continued: ”As for the task reward, give Babaya the first volume of ’Blood Technique’.”

This was the reward promised to Babaya before.

Angel then looked at Kudodo: ”As for Kudodo...”

Kudodo: ”Sir, I don’t need any rewards. I’m just going to learn from you!”

Angel could see that Kudodo was sincere; having the chance to do research with Babaya was, for him, a reward.

Nevertheless, since Angel had decided on the formal task route, he naturally wouldn’t leave Kudodo without a reward. Thinking for a moment, he said: ”As for Kudodo, how about a ’Basic Trick: Modified Edition’?”

The Tree Spirit nodded, made a few invisible gestures, and before long, the task record section on Kudodo and Babaya’s Bone Cards was updated.

The Tree Spirit also conveniently ended Babaya’s previous Tea Party setup task, saving Babaya another trip.

After doing all this, the Tree Spirit curiously asked: ”Are you planning to have just the two of them help you with research?”

In the Tree Spirit’s perspective, Kudodo and Babaya’s abilities were quite low; hiring them as demonic material cleaners would be more reliable than research assistants.

”My research doesn’t require strong abilities, they should be capable of handling it.

The Tree Spirit: ”Research that doesn’t require power? Now I’m curious about your research topic... could it be the subject Rhein mentioned before, about the undead and souls?”

Angel shook his head: ”No, it’s a research about information exchange.”

Information exchange? The Tree Spirit pondered: ”You mean, like a communicator?”

”Something like that, but compared to communicators, it may have more features.” In Angel’s mind, he recalled Jon’s depiction of the future blueprint of the Mother Tree Network; from his viewpoint, it indeed offered a variety of possibilities.

The Tree Spirit assumed it was merely some functionality development for the communicator and nodded: ”Speaking of it, many wizards have complained to me about Rhein’s aesthetic obsession with communicators. If you really can develop a better communicator, don’t make it another Crystal Ball, by any means.”

Angel nodded with a smile; Crystal Ball... he was honestly tired of them too.

”Then I’ll look forward to your research results.”

After bidding farewell to the Tree Spirit, Angel asked Babaya and Kudodo to pack their luggage because they were likely to stay at the ruins for a substantial period.

After Babaya and Kudodo departed, Angel went to the other side of the Eternal Tree, which was the Tea Party setup area.

As if by chance, the Wilderness of Dreams would also host Tea Party venues.

Angel planned to take this time to first check out the style of the Tea Party here and then ponder how to design it in the Wilderness of Dreams.

Of course, with Angel’s planning level, he certainly wouldn’t design it himself. Nonetheless, no matter who designs it, he can always give some suggestions.

With an observant eye, Angel examined the Tea Party’s setup. Although he had seen it before, it was more a fleeting glance; now, looking closely, he could see many details.

The buildings were mostly spire-like with tiles, accompanied by hollow-out stained windows. At first glance, it resembled a Gothic style, yet the carvings on the buildings involved various floral motifs, utilizing lots of thorn vines and roses symbolizing Lianna’s preferences.

Moreover, the building walls were primarily pure white, lacking the gloom of the Gothic style, instead featuring characteristics of Mediterranean architecture. Numerous buildings flowed together, creating a massive contrast with the vibrant rose red.

The air was filled with a rich rose scent, and Angel felt quite comfortable walking amidst it.

After wandering around this area, comparable to a small town, Angel gained some personal insights.

Overall, Angel was satisfied with the Tea Party setup here; a real-life tea party gathering point, undoubtedly, would pose no problems.

However, moving it to the Wilderness of Dreams brought issues that needed addressing.
