Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1994: Chapter 1995: Test

As Angel spoke, he also observed Babaya.

Compared to Kudodo, Babaya was truly diligent. She had now reached the pinnacle of a Level 1 Apprentice. Judging by the saturation of her Magic Power, she was almost at the threshold of advancing. If Babaya desired, she could advance to a Level 2 Apprentice within a few days.

However, it was merely the advancement of the Magical Core. Without other abilities to assist, and without knowledge as a foundation, it was like a baby holding a sharp knife—possessing a threatening weapon, yet lacking the ability to wield it, and even possibly harming herself.

To others, this situation might seem abnormal. But for Babaya, it was quite normal.

Though Madeline hadn’t taught her any Bloodline Tricks, nor systemically chosen a knowledge path for Babaya, she had surely given her the Guiding Method.

When Babaya couldn’t obtain Tricks or Bloodline Arts, the only thing she could do was to desperately cultivate the Guiding Method.

Thus, her proficiency in the Guiding Method was much stronger than Kudodo’s. However, without the aid of Tricks, Babaya would ultimately be top-heavy and unbalanced.

”Have you reached the threshold for advancement? Is it under your control not to advance?” Angel asked.

Babaya nodded hesitantly, ”For certain reasons, I haven’t completed the construction of my knowledge system, so I’ve slightly restrained myself.”

Babaya didn’t explain the reasons, clearly not intending to share her affairs with Angel.

However, Babaya was unaware that Kudodo, sitting beside her, had already informed Angel of the situation.

Angel: ”Is it because of Madeline?”

Babaya suddenly raised her head, her mouth opened as if to say something, but in the end, she deflated and said nothing.

”Back then, Madeline went to the Abyss with me. I saw her when I left. It seems she doesn’t intend to leave the Abyss anytime soon. Since your mentor isn’t around, constructing a systematic knowledge framework would obviously be difficult.”

Babaya: ”...My lord, is my mentor doing well?”

Angel: ”She should be fine for now, though she might encounter a calamity in the future.”

Upon hearing about the calamity, worry flashed across Babaya’s face. Angel noticed this and deduced that Babaya seemed to have a good relationship with her mentor.

”But don’t worry, Lord Rhein has already sent people to the Abyss to rendezvous with Madeline. She won’t die.” Angel paused after speaking, then added, ”However, when she will return, is still uncertain.”

In the Prophecy, Madeline was killed by Dong La. Now that the Prophecy had appeared, the possibility of rescuing her was high. However, even if she was saved, would Madeline continue to target Dong La, would she return to the Wizards’ Realm? This remained uncertain.

”So, if you want to wait for Madeline to return to teach you Bloodline Tricks, that’s still an unknown factor.”

Babaya remained silent.

On the other side, Kudodo suddenly asked, ”So, is there any way, my lord?”

Kudodo knew Babaya’s character; among her peers, Babaya had a strong sense of pride and didn’t like to ask for help, so Kudodo could only silently assist her. However, this was only among peers. Due to their similar standing, Babaya had a somewhat stubborn pride. If facing a higher rank, like Angel who was on the same level as Madeline, Babaya probably wouldn’t refuse.

But at the moment, Babaya was clearly still immersed in her thoughts and didn’t respond immediately.

Feeling anxious, Kudodo overstepped a bit and asked on Babaya’s behalf.

”Do you know about the Blood Technique?” Angel glanced at Kudodo without answering, still looking at Babaya.

Babaya was stunned for a while before nodding, ”I know it’s a common Trick textbook for the Bloodline side. Recently, I’ve been doing tasks to save Magic Crystals to buy the first volume of Blood Technique.”

”Since you know about it, I’ll be straightforward... I can give you the Blood Technique.”

Angel’s sudden offer startled Babaya. She never expected such good fortune to befall her. She even momentarily doubted if she had heard correctly.

”My lord, you mean...”

”I said I can give you the Blood Technique.” Angel paused, and just as joy began to surface in Babaya’s eyes, he added, ”Of course, you should understand what is most important for a wizard.”

”Knowledge and truth.” Babaya instinctively replied.

”Yes, precisely because knowledge is valuable, there’s no reason for me to give it to you for free.”

”I understand, my lord, what would you like me to do?” Babaya nodded, composing herself. If Angel were to give her the Blood Technique without question, she would feel uneasy. Instead, Angel proposing terms made Babaya feel more grounded.

Angel, seeing Babaya quickly collect herself, showed a hint of admiration. To him, giving away a volume of Blood Technique was no big deal, and gifting it to Babaya was no problem. However, he was in need of some talent recently, preferably someone familiar to him, so Babaya caught his attention.

”I have a research project that requires a lot of manpower.”

”Does my lord want me to join?” Babaya nodded without hesitation: ”I agree.”

”Aren’t you going to ask what the research is about?” Angel raised an eyebrow.

”I’m just a Junior Apprentice. Since it’s your research, my lord, it’s certainly beyond my understanding. I just need to follow orders and do as I’m told,” Babaya said.

Angel: ”You might have misunderstood. Though it’s my research project, I won’t be participating. If you join, you’ll need to coordinate with someone else.”

”I still agree. I trust you, my lord.” Babaya affirmed once more.

Angel: ”Since you agree, let’s do a test to see if you’re suitable for this research.”

Babaya nodded. She once accepted a task in the Task Hall to care for Demonic Materials, during which the wizard who issued the task also tested Babaya on some knowledge about Demonic Material care.

Babaya assumed that Angel’s so-called test would be similar to that task, requiring a threshold as a qualification.

Angel, seeing Babaya agree, said nothing more and gently tapped the edge of the coffee table with his hand, causing an Illusion to appear before Babaya.

This Illusion resembled a white canvas haphazardly splattered with various paints, chaotic and jumbled.

However, the canvas was two-dimensional. This Illusion, in contrast, was three-dimensional, with length, width, and depth.

Thus, the colors in the Illusion were even more complex and chaotic.

Just looking at it evoked an irritable feeling that could drive a perfectionist insane.
