Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1903: Section 1904: First Arrival

A faint, elegant fragrance drifted into Popota’s nose.

Fragrance? Where is this fragrance coming from?

Popota opened his eyes in confusion. The moment he did, light entered his eyes, reflecting a vast blue sky in his light brown eyes.

Popota propped himself up on the ground and stood.

He found himself standing on a balcony, the railing covered with green vines, and small, pale purple flowers blooming on the vines, from which the fragrance emanated.

Popota raised his head in confusion and looked beyond the railing, seeing a series of overlapping buildings.

Heights intertwined, light and shadow shifting.

It was like a city... No, it was a city!

Where is this place? Where is this city? Why did he appear here?

Most importantly, Popota looked down at his own body, intact, without even a crack on the skin. His hands and feet were also normal, no protruding lumps, no oozing green liquid, as if restored to the time before his mutation.

Popota touched his face again, the smooth sensation under his fingertips felt both unfamiliar and familiar. Unfamiliar because all the lumps and bumps that had been with him for almost six months were gone; familiar because it felt like he had really returned to the past?

”What exactly is going on?” Popota was puzzled, he actually had a body again, and it was even better?

Popota carefully recalled what had happened earlier, yet searching through his memory, he found no clues. He only remembered his consciousness floating out of his soul, and then he tried everything to contract his Consciousness Spark to the smallest extent, then escaped the Vortex Passage through the only gap in the encirclement of the true name imprint.

After he came out of the Vortex Passage, a Light Gate appeared in front of him, seemingly leading into a long corridor.

At the time, he didn’t know what the corridor behind the Light Gate was, and he didn’t even know what he was supposed to do.

Then, he looked back at the Vortex Passage’s pitch-black depths.

He saw his own soulless soul, continuously falling, eventually engulfed in darkness. Just as his soul merged as one with the dark, he vaguely saw a massive eye, capable of occupying all darkness, slowly open, devoid of any emotion, cold as a Deity atop a mountain peak, overlooking all beings.

Seeing this eye made Popota’s somewhat muddled thoughts seem to freeze for a moment.

He remembered that the owner of this eye was not just ”like a Deity”; it was indeed a Deity! It was one of the most powerful Demon Gods of the Abyss world, The Unparalleled Great Demon God, the Deep Master!

When Popota signed a contract with the Deep Master, he had seen similar eyes, the kind of shock that penetrated his soul, he had never forgotten.

In that moment, Popota became enlightened, realizing that the Vortex Passage indeed led to the Deep Master’s Domain.

However, what confused Popota was that he noticed a trace of incredulity flashed across the cold gaze of the Deep Master upon opening its eyes.

What could cause such a towering presence, like the Deep Master, to feel puzzled?

The answer to Popota’s confusion came quickly, for he saw himself reflected in the eye.

To be precise, he saw his own soulless soul.

Was the Deep Master confused because of his soul? After arriving at this conclusion, Popota found it somewhat unbelievable. Even a exalted Demon God could be puzzled? Also, what was it puzzled about?

As Popota’s questions emerged one after another, that eye seemed to notice something, slowly raising its gaze, its eyes seemingly able to penetrate time and space, looking out from the Vortex Passage.

An unprecedented sense of danger enveloped Popota. He had a premonition that he must never let the Deep Master see his only remaining Consciousness Spark.

Thinking of this, Popota hesitated not for a moment, turning and diving into the Light Gate.

After Popota entered the Light Gate, it immediately closed and disappeared. The eye deep in the Vortex Passage saw only some remnant micro-light, but discovered nothing.

On the other side, after Popota entered the Light Gate, he walked through a dim corridor and then arrived at an exit.

When he walked out from the exit, he fell into a coma, and when he awoke, he was already lying on this balcony.

Popota carefully reminisced about this segment of memory, still unable to understand where he was, not even knowing if this place was related to the Deep Master. But he vaguely remembered walking in from the Light Gate, while the Deep Master was on the other side of the Vortex Passage, perhaps unrelated to the Deep Master? Was he fortunate to escape? But he remembered his soul, seemingly still fell into the hands of the Deep Master.

Where exactly had something strange occurred in this process, and where did the Light Gate come from? Popota felt his Mind Space was filled with all sorts of questions, yet he received no answers.

”Are you a pervert?” As Popota was filled with vexation, a crisp voice carrying disdain came from behind him.

Popota turned to see a young girl standing on the previously empty balcony, at a time unknown to him.

She had a delicate and beautiful face, her skin very pale, paired with a blood-red dress and cold gaze, she looked like an evil spirit from folklore.

However, under the sunlight, his shadow could be seen at her feet. Clearly, she was not an evil spirit but a human.

But this human girl was looking at him with a scornful gaze.

”Huh?” Popota uttered a confused exclamation, his mind now somewhat muddled, unsure if he was more confused by the girl’s mockery or her identity.

”I say, you are a pervert, always touching your own body, and look, you’re still touching your face.” Shanni couldn’t help rolling her eyes, ”Are you a narcissist?”

It was only then Popota noticed his fingertips still rubbing his smooth face. Perhaps he didn’t feel it himself, but to an outsider, it might indeed seem narcissistic... Popota quickly put down his hand, but he had to admit, his face indeed felt very smooth.

”I am not a narcissist; it’s just, just... strange about my body’s transmutation.” After finishing his words, Popota showed what he considered his most amicable smile to the opposite side, ”Little girl, can I ask you a few questions?”

Shanni’s face showed even more disdain, ”Don’t smile, it looks more perverted when you do.”

Popota was taken aback, was his smile that unpleasant? He distinctly remembered being very handsome before, popular among both boys and girls among children.

Could it be that his appearance hadn’t been restored? Only the bumps on his skin were gone, and it felt smooth, but it was still an alien appearance?

Unfortunately, his Mind Space seemed mostly shattered; otherwise, he could use spiritual power to see what he looked like now.

Wait, that’s not right. If the Mind Space was shattered, how could his thinking still operate so clearly?

”Don’t call me little girl, I’m Shanni.” Shanni’s voice interrupted Popota’s thoughts.

Shanni glanced at Popota, ”I know you have a lot of questions, but I don’t want to answer them. As a newcomer, what you need to do now is to come with me to the Sky Tower for identity registration.”

Newcomer? Sky Tower? What kind of place is this? Popota had doubts in his heart, but seeing Shanni’s previous response, it didn’t seem like a good time to ask questions.

”Alright, I’ll go with you to this... Sky Tower.” Popota paused, ”Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Popota.”

Shanni had already turned around, preparing to take this somewhat perverted newcomer to the Sky Tower to register as a resident, but upon hearing Popota’s name, she froze suddenly.

Shanni turned back, frowning, ”Are you Popota?”

Popota: ”I’m Popota, do you know me?”

Shanni’s face flashed with sudden realization, ”So it’s you. Then there’s no need for you to register; your identity is already registered. Now, follow me to meet the Mentor.”

”Mentor?”

”Yes, Mentor Jon. He will tell you everything you want to know.”
