Chapter 1816: Section 1817 Onion Head

Angel’s doubts, Rhein couldn’t answer either, because his understanding of the Nightmare Realm mainly came from Sanders.

But Rhein can confirm that the creature spewing the living thread definitely comes from the Nightmare Realm.

”Living thread, puppet, dementia... Nightmare Realm organism?” Sanders unconsciously taps his fingers on the table, the crisp rhythm echoing in his ears, as if unlocking the melody from the Memory Box, reminding him of certain things.

Events that occurred in the Sleepless City.

”Could it be Yorkshire?” Sanders softly uttered a name.

This name was not unfamiliar to those present, including Greya. Previously, she had also witnessed Yorkshire in the Sleepless City.

This powerful creature from the Nightmare Realm.

Angel naturally had impressions too, although compared to Yorkshire, his memories of the Dalmatian were more vivid because the Dalmatian ”swallowed” him, allowing him a close encounter with the source of mystery and from then on, he constructed the prototype of the Mysterious Concrete Object within the Illusionary Realm.

At the time, the Dalmatian was brought out of the Nightmare Realm by Yorkshire, but Yorkshire could not restrain the Dalmatian, as the Dalmatian’s master was someone else.

Angel still remembers that Yorkshire is a Puppeteer.

When the Sleepless City was shrouded by the dome, Yorkshire abducted many people, using puppet silk threads, creating numerous puppet primordial embryos. And these puppet primordial embryos were actually containers capable of bearing interlayer spaces.

’Little Demon’ Glarke, due to being turned into a puppet primordial embryo, was forced to change his body, becoming the current Spiwey. Moreover, at that time, Nausicaa almost became a puppet primordial embryo as well.

And this living thread turned these dementia patients into things akin to ”puppets,” indeed very much like Yorkshire’s method.

Greya pondered, ”I remember, at that time, Yorkshire was finally scared off by Lord Illusion Demon’s resentment puppet and went to the Central City of Sleepless City. Could it have left the Sleepless City again and come to the ruins of Pamiji Plateau?”

Sanders: ”Lord Rhein, what does that creature spewing the living thread look like? What shape is the living thread?”

Sanders had once been in close contact with Yorkshire, so he wanted to use these external manifestations to determine if the living thread was Yorkshire’s doing.

Rhein lightly waved his cane and a projection appeared before the group.

In the projection was a strange creature, or perhaps... a plant? It looked a bit like an onion head magnified countless times, with a small head and a round belly.

The so-called ”head” was merely an upward transmission pipe.

This onion head already had a large belly, yet it continued to expand, and when it reached its limit, with a ”bang” sound, a large amount of white flocculent material spilled out from the transmission channel at the top of its head.

Just like willow catkins, it floated with the wind towards unknown distant territories.

”This is the whole process of the living thread eruption.” Rhein said indifferently, ”It cost us a great deal to obtain such a precious scene.”

Though Rhein didn’t mention what price was paid, for Rhein, at this level of strength, to specifically point it out, it showed that the price paid was truly significant.

Rhein turned his head towards Sanders: ”Those white flocculent materials are the living threads. Once they enter the human body, the dementia symptoms mentioned externally will appear.”

”The invasiveness of the living thread is extremely strong, making it difficult for apprentices to defend against. If an official wizard dismantles their natural spiritual power barrier, they might also find a loophole for the living thread. Hence, whenever a living thread erupts, one must expend tremendous energy to construct a region to constrain the living thread to prevent them from diffusing.”

”However, there are still some that escape the net.” Rhein looked towards the direction of the ward; these patients were those invaded by the escaped living threads.

”We have researched the living thread, but unfortunately, in a short time, we still can’t obtain effective information.” Rhein sighed, due to the inability to devise a countermeasure against the living thread in a short time, to prevent its rampage, containment was necessary. Coupled with the terrifying transmission ability of the living thread, that’s why Tree Spirit was made the caretaker.

Rhein turned his gaze to Sanders: ”Do you have any impressions of this type of creature?”

Sanders shook his head: ”This isn’t the Yorkshire I saw.”

Yorkshire was a golden giant python, with countless silk threads floating near its scales, its characteristics were extremely distinctive. But this onion head was far too different from the giant python.

However, Sanders couldn’t conclude that the onion head had no relation to Yorkshire.

”Regardless of whether it has any relation to Yorkshire, the most urgent task now is to solve this onion head or the living thread issue.” Greya said at this time, ”Otherwise, the consequences of the living thread’s rampage would be unimaginable.”

Rhein glanced at Greya: ”Miss Greya is right, although the living thread currently cannot invade the Mirror World, the mortal realm has already started showing problems. Once it rampages, we might be forced to relocate, just like the situation in Eternal Night Country.”

Currently, they have no solution, so they can only hope that Sanders’ research on the Nightmare Realm will yield results.

Sanders pondered aloud: ”A solution can’t come from mere speculation; we must first observe the living thread.”

”I don’t have the living thread here, but Tree Spirit should have it.” Rhein finished speaking, his mouth moved, communicating remotely with Tree Spirit.

Before long, a leaf blew in from outside the window, transforming into the appearance of Tree Spirit.

Tree Spirit walked over with a smile, extending his hand towards Sanders, revealing a curved green leaf in his palm, upon which lay a white strand constantly twisting.

”This is the living thread.”

Sanders took the leaf and began to carefully observe the so-called living thread. True to its name, it seemed alive, struggling, twisting, transforming, as though seeking to escape the leaf’s constraint.

With a visual inspection, no clues could be derived from the living thread.

Sanders switched to using spiritual power for detection.

Once he finished the detection, Sanders’ eyebrows remained tightly furrowed.

”Any discovery?” Tree Spirit asked curiously.

Sanders shook his head: ”There’s no discovery for the time being; it doesn’t appear to be a Nightmare Realm organism. But I notice it reacts very dynamically to spiritual power, making it impossible to penetrate internally for inspection directly. Who knows if forcibly examining might reveal anything...”

Rhein shook his head: ”That’s not doable, if you inject spiritual power into its interior, it will reverse invade along your spiritual power. If you don’t immediately sever the spiritual power, your spiritual power will suffer various degrees of contamination, outweighing any benefits.”

Unable to use spiritual power to inspect its internal structure, devising a strategy might require collaboration with a Prophet Wizard for exhaustive methods.

That consumes too much time, and success isn’t guaranteed either.

While Sanders was contemplating, he noticed Angel nearby with a curious gaze, and thought for a moment before handing the leaf to Angel: ”You have a look.”
