Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1450: Section 1451 A Rumor

Mandhela listened to their conversation, growing increasingly puzzled in her heart.

From their discussion, Mandhela heard Angel’s name more than once, and recalling the voice she heard before entering this place, she was now certain that her arrival here must be related to Angel.

However, apart from this, she still knew nothing.

Moreover, this person named ‘Frode’ who was mentioned repeatedly seemed to be someone of great stature, perhaps the City Lord of Originheart City.

He should know something.

Now, it appeared she was being taken by Sheriff Tullas to see Frode, and she would surely be interrogated about her reasons for coming. How should she respond?

Mandhela seemed compliant as she followed Tullas, but thoughts raced through her mind, considering if there was any way to escape.

However, Tullas paid no mind to her gender, gripping her with such force that any sign of struggle from her would only make him grip tighter.

Within Mandhela’s frustrated expression, she was still dragged into the Sky Tower.

Every floor of the Sky Tower was crowded with people, which made Mandhela very uncomfortable, her complexion growing even more sullen.

Soon, Mandhela was dragged to the top floor of Sky Tower, and as the grand door shut, her eyes filled with despair.

In this spacious room, Frode, sitting at his desk, heard the sound at the door and looked up.

Upon looking, he was startled.

It was normal for Tullas to appear here, but why would Lyon come to this place? Moreover, hasn’t he just left the Wilderness of Dreams?

What surprised Frode the most was Mandhela being dragged by Tullas.

Although Frode had not seen Mandhela in person, Angel had described her appearance to him, and at first glance, he almost recognized her identity.

Why was Mandhela caught by Tullas and brought here?

Frode’s heart was filled with questions, but his expression remained undisturbed, and he only glanced at Mandhela briefly before settling his gaze on the others.

“Lyon,” he said, “I heard from Sir Sabel that you had just left, so why have you come back?” Because there were outsiders present, Frode did not directly mention the Wilderness of Dreams but spoke in an ambiguous manner.

“I heard some rumors about Angel and wanted to confirm them with you,” Lyon replied.

“Rumors about the lord?” Frode looked at Lyon with confusion, “What rumors?”

Lyon didn’t answer immediately but pointed to Tullas, “You might want to deal with Tullas’s matter first; my issue is not important and can wait.”

Frode’s gaze followed to Tullas naturally, also casually observing the clearly uneasy Mandhela, “Tullas, what brings you here? And, who is she?”

Tullas, who was all worked up, was about to criticize Frode for his irresponsible way of bringing people in — not even providing basic information before pulling someone into Originheart City.

But when Frode posed his question, Tullas himself was flustered: “You don’t know her? How could you not recognize her? Isn’t she the one you brought in?”

“You mean, she is a newcomer?” Frode’s brow furrowed, “I didn’t bring her here; I haven’t brought in any new residents these past few days.”

Tullas, confused, turned to Mandhela, “You weren’t brought in by Frode? Then how did you come in?”

Mandhela didn’t answer directly, instead, she said coldly, “Let me go.”

This time, Tullas did indeed let go of her hand. After all, they were in Sky Tower and there was no need to keep her restrained.

Mandhela looked at her wrist, now reddened from the grip, somewhat stunned, with both nostalgia and annoyance in her eyes. She was nostalgic because it seemed she truly had a body again, and annoyed because her wrist was so red it was almost turning black; this Tullas was truly a devil!

Tullas asked once more, “Who are you, and why have you come to Originheart City?”

Mandhela coldly responded, “I would also like to know the answer to that question.”

Mandhela’s gaze swept over the people in the room, finally settling on Frode, “Can you answer me?”

Frode also displayed an expression of “confusion,” and after a moment of thought, he said, “Besides me, only the lord and the Illusion Master can bring people to Originheart City.”

“Could it be that the lord brought you here?”

From their earlier conversation, Mandhela already knew that the ‘lord’ Frode spoke of was Angel.

It seemed her earlier speculation was correct; Angel had indeed brought her here, but what did he mean by this? Why did she have a body?

Lost in her thoughts, Mandhela ignored Frode, who had asked her a question.

Frode sighed, “Well, no matter who brought you here, since you’ve come to Originheart City, you are now a new resident of this place. By the way, what is your name?”

After snapping back to reality, Mandhela retorted, “Who are you?”

Frode smiled and didn’t mind Mandhela’s rudeness, “I’m Frode Tyson, and what about you?”

She hesitated for a moment, but still replied, “Mandhela.”

Mandhela paused, then asked, “Where is this place? I don’t want to become some new resident. I just want to leave here.”

“This is Originheart City, a city beyond the world,” Frode paused, “I don’t know why you came here, nor do I know why you want to leave. But all I can say is, those who can leave will naturally find a way to do so, and if you can’t, there’s no way I can help you.”

Mandhela was utterly confused. What did he mean by “those who can leave will naturally find a way to leave”?

But Frode could only shake his head in apology, “It’s hard to explain.”

Mandhela said, “Since you’re unwilling to say, I’ll leave the city on my own.”

“I advise you not to leave the city at will,” Frode said, “Outside the city is a prohibited zone, an untamed wilderness.”

“What do you mean?” Mandhela frowned.

“I don’t know what your status was in the outside world, whether you were ill or a dying person, but after you came here, haven’t you noticed a change in your body? This place is not like the outside world. Even if you leave the city, you’ll only ever be lost in the wilderness,” Frode explained.

After hearing this, Mandhela actually believed it somewhat, for her body now was clearly different from a Soul Body. According to what Frode said, was she in another world?

Mandhela knew that the Fairy Tale World was also a subsidiary world, and different worlds had different rules. So, had Angel brought her into a strange world where she could have a body?

When Mandhela thought of this, her face turned pale, and she cursed Angel incessantly in her heart.

“Regardless, I still hope you’ll stay and live in Originheart City. Here, at least, you are free and can start a new life,” Frode paused, “Why not give it a try?”

Frode’s words made Mandhela involuntarily recall Angel’s whisper in her ear before she entered this world, “Why not try it, let yourself live a little easier?”

Mandhela was stunned for a long time, then suddenly shook her head as if trying to throw all the disruptive information out of her brain.

“Take some time to think about it yourself,” Frode suggested.

At this moment, Tullas also said, “Yeah, I guess you were brought in by Lord Pat. Although I don’t know why you were brought into Originheart City, if you really want to leave, the next time Lord Pat comes to the city, you might want to ask for his opinion.”

“Angel will come in too?”

A look of realization flashed through everyone’s eyes, and Frode also pretended to have a sudden insight, “Indeed, you were brought in by the Lord. He will come. He was here a few days ago.”

Mandhela fell silent. It seemed that now she had no choice but to stay here for a while?

Seeing Mandhela’s expression gradually relax and become calm, Frode said no more. Instead, he turned his gaze to Tullas, “By the way, I am curious, why did you bring Mandhela here?”

Once Tullas realized that Mandhela was not brought into Originheart City by Frode, he understood that his supposed grasp on Frode’s weakness was a lost cause.

Tullas gave an embarrassed smile, “Nothing much, I just saw her as a newcomer and brought her along on the way.”

“You’re the Sheriff; this task shouldn’t fall to you, right? And besides, the registration place is downstairs. Why did you bring her up to me?”

Tullas was at a loss for words.

“Right, I heard a loud noise coming from the Marine Theater earlier. Could it be…” Frode’s voice suddenly rose, “You’ve caused destruction again?!”

Tullas quickly waved his hands, “No, absolutely not!”

Frode didn’t believe him at all. His gaze shifted to Mandhela, “Do you know about it?”

Mandhela didn’t expect Frode to come asking her. She glanced at Tullas, who was continuously gesturing and making faces at her. A slight smirk curved the corner of Mandhela’s mouth, “Yes, I saw it.”

Tullas’s eyes widened, and he pointed at Mandhela with trembling hands, “You, you-you…”

Frode didn’t ask Mandhela any further questions but instead turned his piercing gaze onto Tullas, “You just destroyed the square’s statue, and now you plan to destroy the Marine Theater, too?”

“I didn’t, I haven’t, I just… just didn’t see the road,” Tullas faltered.

After saying this and seeing Frode still looking at him coldly, Tullas’s eyes rolled, and he turned to Lyon next to him, “Right, Lyon’s still here. You said you had something earlier, the rumors about Angel. What rumors? Let’s hear them.”

Tullas’s change of topic was too obvious. Now, it was up to Lyon whether he’d take the bait.

Lyon saw the pleading look in Tullas’s eyes and couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.

Remembering the time Tullas had taught him close combat techniques for a long period, Lyon duly took over the conversation, “Indeed, I heard a rumor about Angel outside, and I wanted to verify it.”

Because Lyon spoke up, Frode could only give Tullas a stern look and turned his attention to Lyon.

After Lyon said his piece, his expression became solemn, but when he mentioned the rumor, there was a strange look in his eyes.

“Not long ago, ‘Sky of Truth’ magazine’s new issue revealed a scoop, definitively claiming that Angel had…”

Everyone turned their attention to Lyon, including Mandhela, who pricked up her ears, waiting for his statement.

Lyon paused for a long while before saying, “It’s said that Angel has broken through the Great Barrier and has become an Official Wizard.”
