Chapter 1444: Section 1445 Frost’s Thoughts

Angel exchanged insights with Popota about the transmutation of Pliant Worms before he left.

At that time, noises were coming from the hall outside.

Angel pushed the door open, only to find that Frost, wearing a mask, had returned at some point. When Angel looked over, Frost was sitting on the sofa, lazily greeting him.

Walking out, Angel respectfully said, “Lord Frost.”

Frost waved his hand, “I’m not fond of formalities, sit down and let’s talk.”

Angel sat opposite Frost. Before he could speak, Frost, as if he knew what was on Angel’s mind, said, “You seem to be waiting for your mentor?”

“Yes, does your lordship know where my mentor went?”

Frost casually replied, “I saw him in the Void earlier. He seemed to be researching the phenomenon of doors, and should still be there now.”

After a pause, Frost looked up and said, “I, on the other hand, went to the Void to study the door that was transformed from the ‘Gift of Truth’.”

Seeing that Angel was stunned, Frost continued, “It’s not what your mentor told me, such obvious pan-will wave fluctuations, anyone who studies the pan-will could have discovered it.”

“However, that fluctuation has now disappeared, and has even entered a hidden state.” When Frost reached this point, he curiously looked at Angel, “This method of concealment gives me a feeling of familiarity. Forgive my boldness in asking, who did it?”

Angel pondered for a moment, deciding not to hide anything.

“It was the Thief of Time, Cassini.”

Frost, beneath the mask, raised an eyebrow, showing no surprise, “Indeed it was him. It seems he wanted you to hand over the door to him?”

“That’s correct, but I refused,” Angel replied, then took the opportunity to ask, “Lord Frost, do you think my choice was right or wrong?”

Angel did not conceal Cassini’s matter because not long ago Frost had also warned him to be wary of the Thief of Time. On the front line against the Thief of Time, Frost might stand on the same side as them.

Angel was eager to know what Frost thought about this matter and what, in Frost’s eyes, was the significance of that door?

“The choice that the Thief of Time gave you this time isn’t about right or wrong. In my view, rather than a choice, it’s more like a trade,” Frost said. “However, you did well to refuse. In the game against the Thief of Time, even such a trade should be avoided if it can introduce greater variables.”

With Frost’s explanation, Angel also understood how someone of Frost’s level viewed that door.

The effect of this door was not deceitful as told by the Thief of Time, it indeed has only one function: ‘localization’.

In the vast majority of scenarios, the Spatial Beacon could indeed replace this door.

“However, in certain situations, this door becomes vastly significant,” Frost said. “For example, when caught in a spatial maelstrom; or say, if you are lost within some special space.”

“In these two scenarios, Spatial Beacons may sometimes fail to function, or could even deceive you, but that door will not. Its eternal existence truly becomes a beacon guiding you home.”

Such specific circumstances may not even be encountered after becoming a Legend, so at the present stage, this door is indeed of little use to Angel.

Moreover, after reaching Legend status, if one encounters a spatial maelstrom or gets lost in special spaces, there are other means of self-rescue that wouldn’t strictly require this door.

Looking at it this way, the door seems to have no significance. But that is not the case; the existence of this door is actually an absolute benchmark.

An eternal guidepost that would never lose direction.

Any ‘absolute’ existence holds its value.

Otherwise, why would the Thief of Time go out of his way to find Angel and engage in this trade?

After explaining, Frost set aside the topic of the Thief of Time and returned to the door itself.

The reason Frost had gone to the Void to study the door was that there were aspects of it that still puzzled him.

Not the effect.

But the significance of the door’s existence.

Or rather, why it… left the door for Angel?

Now, both Angel and Sanders actually believe that this Gift of Truth originated from the will of the world. However, that is not the case.

Frost was well aware that this door was left behind by the “Mysterious Will.”

He was very curious as to why the Mysterious Will would leave this door behind.

Previously, when Angel created spells in Whisker Sea, the Mysterious Will had not rewarded Angel, but this time it left behind this stroke of genius.

In Origin World, it was a universally acknowledged assertion: the Mysterious Will’s rewards always point directly to truth.

Of course, this wasn’t an absolute, because although there weren’t many who had received the Mysterious Will’s reward in Origin World, there were quite a few, and they hadn’t necessarily found truth.

But what could be certain was that the Mysterious Will’s reward was definitely not worthless.

To Frost, this door seemed useless to Angel, at least for a long time to come. So why had the Mysterious Will awarded this door to Angel?

Frost studied the door as he tried to probe the intention of the Mysterious Will.

However, he got no answers.

As Frost thought of this, his gaze turned towards Angel. Since the Gift of Truth was awarded to Angel, perhaps he could find a clue from him?

With that thought, Frost asked, “This door seems to be of little use to you at present. However, the Gift of Truth always presents something useful. So I’m a bit curious; what do you think this door is for, for you?”

For me, what is it for? Angel pondered for a long time. He thought hard but could not figure out any use for it. To him, the door was just a target anchor, just as Sanders had said, completely replaceable with a Spatial Beacon… As for the scenarios Frost had mentioned where Spatial Beacons were useless, Angel had considered them too, but he didn’t believe he would find himself in such situations anytime soon.

Overall, Angel was equally puzzled.

Frost could tell that Angel truly had no idea. However, this lack of knowledge was perhaps just because he hadn’t thought of it yet.

“Why not consider the spells you’ve created. The appearance of this door is due to your spell creation, so perhaps the situation it addresses is also related to your spell creation,” Frost suggested.

When it came to creating spells, Angel fell into deep thought.

The Gate Model should have two effects: the first is short-distance spatial displacement; the second requires special energy to activate the Gate Model.

Although Angel hadn’t activated the second effect due to caution, he vaguely knew what would happen in that scenario… If it was the second case, would he need this door?

Angel believed he still wouldn’t need it.

But in his heart, Angel had a faint suspicion that the appearance of this door might indeed be due to the second effect, but not because of the effect itself, but rather due to the special energy needed to activate that second effect.

When Angel realized this, he stopped thinking.

This matter related to the secret he concealed, and in front of him was a powerful Wizard. Angel dared not take it lightly.

Frost noticed the change in Angel’s expression.

Even though he didn’t use telepathy, he could tell that Angel might have really thought of something.

However, obviously, Angel did not wish to share it.

If it were someone else, Frost might have resorted to other methods to make them speak. But with Angel, Frost just smiled and let go of that idea.

After observing for a while, Frost had actually formed a thought in his mind.

As a Mystic Hunter, without a secretive Alchemist providing support, many of his plans could not be executed.

Ever since she disappeared, Frost couldn’t find a solitary and willing Alchemist to help him.

Until, he happened upon Angel here by chance.

Although Angel had not yet become a secretive Alchemist, he had already touched upon the secretive Domain, and after observation, Angel’s own potential was also quite noteworthy, which could lead to a mysterious future.

Frost had a long life and didn’t mind waiting for Angel to mature.

If Angel could truly become a secretive Alchemist, then his thought would have an outlet.

It was because of this thought that Frost did not intend to force Angel, at least for now he hoped to have a peaceful dialogue with Angel.
