Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1334: Section 1335 Curing

Unbeknownst to him, the rosy hue of the horizon had been retracted, and the finale of the day reluctantly dissipated, ushering in the night.

However, peculiarly, there were no traces of stars or moon on this night’s canvas; instead, rolling black clouds had gathered.

Due to the natural cover of the night, it was difficult to notice the accumulation of dark clouds overhead as they churned and thickened without close observation.

Popota had initially not paid attention to the transformations in the sky; it was a gust of inexplicable wind that raised his alertness.

“Why is there wind in a windless belt?” Popota wondered with this question in mind as he looked up.

He didn’t see the source of the wind. On the contrary, when he noticed the dim night sky, he was suddenly stunned… Why were there low clouds in the sky, churning as if Thunder Serpents were leaping inside them? Yet, the air was very dry, clearly showing no signs of thunderstorms.

...
If it were just low-hanging black clouds, Popota wouldn’t have paid much attention. However, these black clouds were swirling in a vortex shape as if a tornado was shooting from the ground to the sky, stirring the clouds.

Most importantly, the center of this vortex-shaped black cloud was directly above the Nameless Isle where they were located.

The hole at the center of the black cloud vortex was like a terrifying giant eye, overlooking every blade of grass and tree on the isle.

“Is this… an omen of something extraordinary?” Popota couldn’t imagine such a celestial sight occurring in the windless belt and could only attribute it to an extraordinary omen. And the situation in the sky did indeed resemble one.

Although Popota had never triggered such an omen, he was still familiar with some knowledge of them.

Generally speaking, triggering an extraordinary omen meant one had pried into the rules of the Material Realm.

The most frequently occurring omens were those of Alchemy. Even the Barbarian Cave, known as the frozen soil of Alchemy, experienced several Alchemy Omens each year, and the Sky Mechanical City even more numerously and frequently.

Besides Alchemy Omens, self-advancement would also bring forth omens: such as breaking through major barriers, stepping onto the path of True Knowledge, transcending the limits of Legends… and so on.

Wizards knowledgeable about omens could often identify the type of omen at a glance.

Although Popota did not have this ability, as a Transcendent, he was naturally not an unwise person. Judging from the center of the omen, it was almost certain that the trigger for the omen likely came from this Nameless Isle.

This Nameless Isle had been in existence for many years; if it had any inherent issue, changes would have occurred long ago. Therefore, the isle itself was not the focus; the focus was on the variables existing on the isle—

Himself and Angel.

Popota knew very well that since arriving on the isle, aside from fiddling with the Pliant Worm nest, he had done nothing else. And the Pliant Worm nest was as calm as ever.

Then, the only possibility left was that the omen here was triggered by Angel.

Popota turned his head back to look at Angel on the high cliff. He hadn’t moved at all. An Alchemy Omen was out of the question, so was it a sign of self-advancement?

Could it be that Angel was preparing to break through a major barrier?

After pondering for a moment, Popota shook his head. Breaking through a major barrier was a very solemn matter, requiring extensive preparation. How could it be so hastily conducted?

If it wasn’t breaking through a major barrier, then what could it be?

At that moment, Popota suddenly remembered the previous conversation on the Gondola, when he had asked Angel where he was going; Angel had replied, “I’m going to find a secluded place to experiment with some tricks.”

Experimenting with tricks!

What kind of trick could produce such an omen?

Suddenly, a shock flashed through Popota’s eyes; he thought of the only answer—Omen of Law Creation!

Before, Popota had found it strange why Angel would go to such a remote place to experiment with tricks, but if it were for creating new magic, that would make sense.

However, creating magic in the Apprentice stage is hard to imagine.

Even though Popota had read in books that some exceptionally gifted prodigies could indeed create magic during their apprentice phase, he had never seen it himself.

Was he about to witness such a miracle today?

A sudden excitement surged in Popota’s heart.

However, amidst his excitement, he was still puzzled, as he had seen records—whether they were videos or texts—that Omens of Law Creation wouldn’t be so inconspicuous.

The fluctuations of the omen should have been much more pronounced.

Yet now, while Popota felt something amiss, this feeling was not strong, and the very thing that alerted him to the changes in the sky was the abnormal wind from the windless belt, not the fluctuations of the omen.

Popota could only guess: Perhaps because Angel was merely an Apprentice, and his foundation was not deep, creating new magic under such circumstances naturally had its oversights, resulting in such a subtle omen?

Of course, this was just Popota’s speculation; no one knew the true situation.

…

Angel was unaware of the changes in the outside world, as his entire mind was immersed in the Mind Space.

If judged by the time, he had actually completed the final pattern of the “Gate Model” when the dark clouds appeared in the sky.

At that moment, he was straining to solidify the Gate Model in the Witchcraft Slot.

Witchcraft Slot is a special position structured upon the Psychic Model, which allows the permanent solidification of a Spell Technique Model through the continuous operation of the Psychic Model.

For other wizards, this process could be very difficult. The solidified Spell Technique Model must precisely correspond to every coordinate point on the Witchcraft Slot and maintain a prolonged connection with the Psychic Model to achieve instant casting effects.

In this process, each step must be carefully managed. Other wizards, including Official Wizards, might make mistakes during the solidification process, leading to the collapse of the Spell Technique Model and necessitating its reconstruction.

But Angel had no such worries.

With the help of the Axis of Myriad Manifestations, he could be entirely precise with all coordinate points.

Although Angel had practiced countless times, he was still meticulously performing the action of solidification, as this time’s Gate Model contained special energy. If it failed, the next construction of the Gate Model would likely have to be built using Magic Power alone.

In Angel’s vision, within the chaotic Mind Space, the Gate Model that was starting to emit a bright light was not released but was slowly being drawn by the Psychic Model.

The “Gate” moved, slowly and firmly toward the Witchcraft Slot on the Psychic Model.

During this period, Angel also had to expend the remaining Magic Power in the Magical Core to maintain the integrity of the Gate Model. No difficulties arose, except his energy consumption was rapid.

Eventually, Angel successfully placed the Gate Model into the Witchcraft Slot.

From the perspective of Mind Space, this process was very slow. But in reality, it only took a few seconds.

Next was the process of the Witchcraft Slot adapting to the Gate Model, or rather, the Psychic Model adapting to this new structure. After all, from now on, this structure would be permanently fused with the Psychic Model.

The adaptation time between the two should not take too long.

During this process, Angel could also use the feedback information from the Psychic Model to gain a clearer understanding of the effects of the Gate Model.

Speaking of which, when the Gate Model was completely built, Angel had already sensed a connection with the “Gate.”

His previous speculation was not wrong. The effect of the Gate Model was indeed spatial displacement.

Unfortunately, the spatial displacement was not long-distance movement but short-range teleportation.

Of course, Angel was aware that if it had been possible to achieve long-distance teleportation, it could almost be compared to a Plane Corridor. For a Space Mage, that would belong to very high-level Spell Techniques.

Although it was only short-range teleportation, Angel was very satisfied. Combined with Illusion Techniques and his powerful physical body, his combat strength should improve.

However, whether there would be a qualitative improvement remained to be seen, depending on the restrictions of using this teleportation. If the conditions were too restrictive, then it could only be considered better than nothing.

Angel could almost confirm the effect of spatial displacement, but there was something in the Gate Model he had not yet deciphered.

That was the special energy.

Angel could sense the presence of this energy, but its specific effects were still uncertain to him.

At the moment the Gate Model materialized, Angel was sure that if he had released the Gate Model then, it probably would have only produced the effect of spatial displacement, as the special energy seemed to be in a dormant state.

Or rather, Angel had not met the conditions to activate the special energy at that time.

Although the effect of the special energy was unknown, Angel could be certain that this “Gate Model” was as he had previously conjectured, not just a simple spatial displacement.

The specifics would only be revealed after a lot of experimentation.

…

For wizards, each Witchcraft Slot is very important.

This importance is not to say that you must solidify a very powerful Spell Technique on the Witchcraft Slot, but rather that the Spell Technique on this slot must be useful to you.

Angel was very satisfied with his first Witchcraft Slot. Spatial displacement is a very useful effect, especially since the Witchcraft Slot can cast “instantly,” allowing it to serve as a lifesaving tool.

However, Angel was still somewhat puzzled or rather unclear about some things.

He could hardly believe that he had actually learned the means of spatial displacement. It is known that cross-disciplinary cultivation is difficult, and even more so when crossing over to the mysterious Space Series, which is even more challenging.

Unable to find an explanation, Angel could only assume that this was a benefit from that mystical world and the Eye of the Sky.

His bewilderment was short-lived because, after a few minutes of adaptation, the new structure of the Psychic Model and Witchcraft Slot had finally reached an understanding.

Now, the Psychic Model and the Gate Model on the Witchcraft Slot seemed to merge into one!

As Angel was fascinated by this new change, suddenly, his Magical Core, which had not expanded in a long time, began to stir!
