Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1248: Section 1249 Speculation

Wizard Sanders’s face was one of utter disbelief, as though he was just short of saying, “Are you kidding me?”

Although Sanders already had an incredibly alarming answer in mind, it wasn’t yet to the point where Angel could win this battle!

On one side was an apprentice, on the other, a Demon God. The disparity in strength was colossal, like comparing a mound of earth to a range of mountains.

Even if it wasn’t the Lord of the Flameless in person, but just an avatar of the Demon God, its strength was nearly at the Legendary Level! If it were to descend as a True Spirit, surpassing the Legendary Level would be incredibly easy!

How could such a powerful Demon God lose to Angel?

The expression on Sanders’s face already represented the doubts in his heart. Angel knew that this matter would likely be met with disbelief if spoken aloud. After pondering for a moment, he said to Sanders, “There shouldn’t be anyone here who could spy on us, right?”

Sanders nodded subconsciously, just about to ask Angel what he was planning to do, when he saw a faint light flash from Angel’s bracelet.

The next second, two cubic blocks of water, frozen by the waters of the ghostly abyss, appeared out of nowhere in front of him.

At first, Sanders didn’t realize what these two water cubes were, until an overwhelming presence pressed upon him and he suddenly understood!

Looking carefully into the deep blue cubes of water, when he saw the details inside, Sanders’s pupils contracted, and he took a large step back.

What did he see?!

Two battered corpses!

One of the bodies was covered with burn marks, while the other had its head completely missing! But that wasn’t what mattered. What mattered was that Sanders recognized the owners of these two corpses!

The one covered with burn marks was Aoluxiya.

And the other corpse, which had become half-ceramic, could still be identified from the broken patterns of its armor and the terrifying aura it emitted even in death… It was indeed the avatar of the Demon God that had come chasing after Popota!

Sanders looked at the two corpses with a face full of shock. He was initially stunned, then slowly his expression turned to surprise, occasionally flashing with covetousness, but ultimately it changed to a mix of terror and restraint!

The bodies that Monty was so obsessed with had appeared before Sanders without any warning, so suddenly—how could he not be surprised?

Moreover, upon seeing these two bodies, Sanders immediately thought of the method Monty had obtained for breaking through to Legendary—using the Demon God’s bloodline to force a breakthrough… This was why a look of covetousness flashed in Sanders’s eyes. Who wouldn’t want to step into a higher realm earlier?

But as the inner desire ran wild, another rational personality in his heart forcefully pulled Sanders back from his daydreams to the ground.

While taking ‘shortcuts’ and ‘unconventional paths’ is common for wizards, such as learning Transmutation by grafting the skin of a Transforming Soft-bodied Insect, taking shortcuts on important life-changing decisions is tantamount to courting death.

Even if one could indeed advance to a higher tier by leveraging the bloodline of a Demon God’s descendant, one’s future potential would be exhausted.

Naturally, Sanders was unwilling to see his future path end there, so after experiencing surprise, covetousness, and greed, he began to consciously restrain himself.

However, even if Sanders had momentarily come to his senses, he still couldn’t calm down about the matter.

He sat back down at his desk, bowed his head, and tapped his fingers lightly on the surface, using a special frequency to rapidly cool his emotions.

With great effort, he barely managed to quell the emotions in his heart.

The shock Angel had brought him was simply too great!

From the moment he released these two corpses, Angel had proven his words. He had not lied; in the struggle against the Demon God, he was the winner!

Sanders couldn’t help but look at Angel. He now understood that when Angel caused trouble previously, Angel himself was oblivious, but this time, he knew what he was stirring, which meant things were indeed serious!

Luckily, these two corpses appeared in the Gravity Garden. If Angel had exposed them to the outside world, even if there was no one around, it would be only a matter of time before countless people would arrive, especially Monty, who was sure to sense it!

After all, when Sanders recently returned to Sky Island, he had seen with his own eyes how Monty radiated a gloomy aura, making Luci work tirelessly day and night to locate Aoluxiya. Moreover, Monty had even sent messages to several other members of the Wizards’ Alliance in the Abyss, summoning over a dozen Prophet Wizards to Sky Island, all in pursuit of further leads!

If this place were to be exposed, it would be a matter of grave consequence!

However, if they could successfully keep it hidden, the benefits would be unimaginably vast!

Even without using the Demon God descendant’s bloodline to take a shortcut, there is more than just the bloodline of value in the Demon God’s remains. These two corpses, especially the headless one, every part of them could be considered a treasure!

For instance, the white ceramic shell, with just a bit of melting, without even giving it to an alchemist for processing, could become high-grade armor with a little solidification of a Transmutation spell embedded into it!

Sanders felt the greed in his heart starting to rise again, but rationality ultimately prevailed over desire.

After suppressing the thoughts in his heart, Sanders looked at Angel.

“I don’t even know how to properly address you anymore,” Sanders said as he rubbed his slightly throbbing temples and stood up. “The matter of the Wilderness of Dreams isn’t over, and now you’ve added this to the mix…”

Sanders intended to scold, but in the end, he held back.

Even if Angel was really causing trouble, the benefits obtained were always evident. As mentor and apprentice, both being of the Illusion Demon Island lineage, their interests were naturally shared.

Sanders, although grumbling verbally, actually harbored a masochistic sense of relief in his heart. Even more so, there was an indefinable pride and a commendation he did not wish to articulate.

Sanders muttered a few begrudging compliments, and then the topic shifted to the two corpses.

The primary concern was how to deal with the two bodies. Sanders hadn’t made up his mind yet, even feeling that placing them in the Gravity Garden was unsafe. In the end, he decided it would be better to temporarily place the corpses with Angel—not only because Angel had rightful ownership of the bodies but also because Angel’s Blood Night Shelter could effectively shield against Divination.

If one were to place them in the Gravity Garden, even though the Gravity Garden could prevent Divination to a certain extent, it ultimately could not match the shielding effect of the Blood Night Shelter.

Once the issue of placement was resolved, as for what to do with them later, that could be decided in the future. For the time being, Angel’s help would be indispensable, whether for healing that otherworldly human—Jon—or for researching the Wilderness of Dreams. There would be time to consider it later.

Talking straight, Sanders looked at Angel, his gaze extremely complex, “Now we should discuss, in detail, what happened. Exactly what occurred during your battle with the Lord of the Flameless? How did you manage it?”

Since Angel had already displayed the two corpses, naturally he wouldn’t hide anything.

“Actually, it’s not accurate to say that I defeated the Lord of the Flameless. The person who truly defeated him was ‘he’.”

Angel began with the battle between Aoluxiya and the Lord of the Flameless, recounting almost every detail, including how the Primeval Flame in purple and white had sealed Aoluxiya’s spirit, and how the relic left by the cruel scholar had attracted the Lord of the Flameless… Angel recounted everything, leaving no detail undisclosed.

When Sanders heard that Angel had refused Popota’s advice to use the relic, his brow began to twitch.

If Angel didn’t use the relic, what could he do when facing the Lord of the Flameless?

It seemed there was only one thing he could do.

“Did you pull off something like the Night Demon City affair?” Sanders speculated, recalling how everything had aligned in Angel’s favor enabling him to create the chaos in Night Demon City. Replicating that would be extremely difficult.

Angel shook his head and recounted what happened.

“So it was ‘him’.” Sanders’s face showed little surprise. When Angel’s physique had become stronger, Sanders had already speculated as much.

“At that time, my thought processes had already entered a comatose state, what actually happened, I learned afterward from the memories ‘he’ left with me.” Angel continued, “He seemed to be attached to me at first, matching the Lord of the Flameless in battle.”

As Angel narrated, Sanders silently memorized and analyzed in his heart.

Hearing Angel’s implication, that person had not come in his true form but only with a strand of consciousness attached to Angel, and he was able to match an avatar of a Half-step Legend Demon God in battle—how powerful would his bodily form be?

While Sanders was still pondering the real strength of that person, Angel again took him on a roller coaster ride.

“…Later, the Demon God unleashed True Spirit Force, and his power surged… My body sustained damage, and ‘he’ left my consciousness, battling the Lord of the Flameless with just his consciousness.”

“And then?”

“One blow. It only took one blow. The Lord of the Flameless’s head shattered.”

Sanders wore a face of astonishment.

A Demon God who had already used True Spirit killed with a single blow by that person?

“Not just that, after killing the Demon God’s avatar, he used only one more blow to extinguish the… True Spirit of the Lord of the Flameless as well.”

This time, Sanders was thoroughly stunned!

“You mean, the Lord of the Flameless’s actual True Spirit?”

Angel nodded, “Yes, precisely because the True Spirit of the Lord of the Flameless was shattered on the Continent of Yuantan, and the True Spirit Force scattered, that the Continent of Yuantan was saved from collapse.”

Angel’s subsequent words were lost on Sanders; his mind was fixated on, “The Demon God’s True Spirit has been shattered!”

The power of a Demon God chiefly consisted of three parts: the True Name, True Spirit, and True Body!

Now, with the True Spirit of the Lord of the Flameless gone, this meant that its power had significantly diminished—not merely by a simplistic third but by an even more substantial margin. It might even fall from the position of a great Demon God!

At the same time, this also meant that the ‘Demon God’s shadow,’ which had been a source of concern for all the wizards of the Southern Domain because of Monty’s hunting plan, had disappeared!

For now, how could the Lord of the Flameless threaten to invade the Southern Domain when it was struggling to maintain its own power?

Sanders was dazed for a moment; he had been contemplating the extent of that person’s strength.

Now he realized, he might not even have the qualifications to speculate.

While there might not be any Legendary Wizards in the Southern Domain at present, it had seen many legends in the past, and therefore many a record of Legendary Wizards existed. As a key figure of the Barbarian Cave, Sanders naturally knew many legendary tales, and thus he could make a rough analysis of a legend’s strength using books as reference.

But beyond the legends, he only knew of a term called “Miracle,” with no further information.

And that person’s strength, having shattered a Demon God’s True Spirit with one blow, evidently had reached a level of power beyond legend that defied description!

How could he even begin to speculate?
