Chapter 1178: Section 1179: Feng’s Bad Taste

Angel eyed the Primeval Flame with puzzlement. He very much wanted to know, what was the ultimate destination of this Primeval Flame?

It wasn’t just Angel who wanted to know; everyone present was curious. In fact, they all harbored a faint hope that the Primeval Flame would fly towards themselves.

The pale-yellow Primeval Flame floated in front of the painting, its flames flickering slowly.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew.

Amidst everyone’s expectation, the Primeval Flame really took flight. Ignoring the pressure released by Monarch Angel, it drifted through the stagnant space.

However, the direction in which the Primeval Flame moved was towards Greerwu.

Initially, the first Primeval Flame that Monarch Angel brought back from that world ended up flying towards Greerwu. This also led to Komodo failing to seize the Primeval Flame in the end, which was obtained by Aoluxiya instead.

When everyone saw the direction towards which the Primeval Flame was heading, they all furrowed their brows.

“Why is it that little demon again? Is there something on it that attracts the Primeval Flame?”

Even Monarch Angel knitted his brows, wondering if the Primeval Flame left by Feng was meant for him. Was there a deeper meaning to this?

While everyone was puzzled, Monty narrowed his eyes upon seeing this scene, secretly calculating in his mind: If the Primeval Flame really flew towards the young fire demon Greerwu, then once the pressure lifted, Komodo might abandon Aoluxiya and pounce on Greerwu instead. Then, he might not only obtain the Bloodline of Aoluxiya but also the Primeval Flame on it?

As Monty thought this, the Primeval Flame had already floated in front of Greerwu.

Greerwu too was shocked, not expecting the Primeval Flame to drift towards it. It hesitated for a moment, then stretched out its hand, trying to grab the pale-yellow Primeval Flame.

But just as its hand was about to touch the Primeval Flame, the flame suddenly swirled and flew out again.

And moreover, it drifted in a direction completely opposite to Greerwu.

“Huh, it didn’t choose Greerwu?” Just as someone was guessing this, they suddenly saw a large amount of flames burst forth from Komodo, and the flames grew stronger and stronger.

And the pale-yellow Primeval Flame drifted towards Komodo.

“So it was Komodo pulling a trick?”

Seeing the Primeval Flame flying towards him, a gleam of joy burst out in Komodo’s eyes!

On the other side, Monty’s expression turned sour upon witnessing this situation. In truth, the Primeval Flame choosing anyone would be beneficial for Monty, except for Komodo. Given a demon’s greed, once Komodo obtained this Primeval Flame, he would surely compete with Monty for the Primeval Flame around Aoluxiya.

Although he didn’t necessarily need the Primeval Flame on Aoluxiya, if he could obtain it, it wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

Monty squinted his eyes, watching the deliberately released flames from Komodo, and suddenly remembered something, his lips slightly moving.

The first to receive Monty’s message was Sinafa, who was taken aback for a moment and then tentatively summoned a flame outside her body.

As soon as the flame appeared, Sinafa clearly saw the Primeval Flame, which was heading towards Komodo, begin to waver and hesitate.

Seeing this, Sinafa’s heart leaped with joy, and she immediately summoned all her stored power of the flames. Sinafa’s actions also caught the attention of the humans behind her. They were not foolish; seeing this scene, they naturally understood that the destination of the Primeval Flame might be related to the aura of the flames.

Thus, in an instant. Countless flames burst forth from their bodies.

Specks of flame connected into a line, bobbing across the sky, even possessing a sort of beauty.

With the emergence of a large number of flames, the pale-yellow Primeval Flame seemed to start spinning and didn’t fly towards Komodo but randomly fluttered about.

Everyone hoped the Primeval Flame would come to them, so they released flames from their bodies with all their might.

Angel, watching this scene from the sky, couldn’t help but laugh quietly to himself.

These people had not considered that if the Primeval Flame was indeed reacting to flames, the one it should be seeking was not them, but Angel himself, who had just received the title of the Monarch of Fire.

Angel had understood ever since the Primeval Flame first ran away from Greerwu that Feng must have already decided its destination. Everything was probably related to the will that Feng left within him.

After all, Feng was someone with a bit of a wicked sense of humor… As Angel reflected upon their initial encounter inwardly, he couldn’t help but chuckle remembering how Feng had appeared aged and spoke in a voice so weathered it seemed as if he had seen through everything.

Back then, Angel had held a lot of respect for this “elder,” until after some time with Feng, he realized that some of his actions were even more mischievous than many unruly children.

It wasn’t until Feng left and tore off his disguise, revealing his true appearance, that Angel discovered Feng’s so-called “aged appearance” was completely feigned.

Thus, seeing all the “antics” of the Primeval Flame, Angel was almost certain that it likely retained Feng’s will.

And just as Angel had speculated, after the Primeval Flame floated around the humans back and forth, drifting and “playing” until it grew tired, it finally stopped paying them any attention and set off on its own toward the distance.

Upon witnessing this scene, it seemed everyone finally realized… had they been played by a flame?!

With indignation and anger flickering in their eyes, they gazed longingly, just wanting to see where the Primeval Flame would end up!

This time, the Primeval Flame was no longer influenced by other factors, whether it was the “attraction of flames” or “a gust of wind”. It ignored them all and flew straight towards a particular direction.

——The location of Fafnir.

Could the target of the Primeval Flame be Fafnir?

Monty frowned, wondering if Komodo would dare attack if Fafnir acquired the Primeval Flame. The chances seemed slim, and perhaps it would still compete with him for Aoluxiya.

Yet Sanders, watching the Primeval Flame fly towards Fafnir, felt a sudden twinge in his heart. Everyone else assumed the Primeval Flame’s target would be Fafnir, but they seemed to have overlooked the fact that there was another person beside Fafnir.

…

Angel watched the pale yellow Primeval Flame getting closer. At first, he too thought that Fafnir would be its destination.

However, to his surprise, the Primeval Flame passed directly by Fafnir and hovered in front of him.

The Primeval Flame, so close at hand, emitted a tempting fluctuation.

Gazing at the pale yellow Primeval Flame, Angel, for some reason, thought he saw a blurry figure within the flames, smilingly peering at him through the Primeval Flame.

“It shouldn’t… be me, right?” Angel murmured softly.

Fafnir beside him snorted coldly. Indeed, from such a close distance, Fafnir could have snatched the Primeval Flame, but she made no move to do so.

As Angel was puzzled, the Primeval Flame suddenly flew towards his face.

Angel instinctively ducked his head to dodge the Primeval Flame.

The Primeval Flame flew behind Angel, seeming to feel a great humiliation, and came at him with even greater speed. This time, Angel turned his head aside and avoided it again.

All those witnessing this scene: “…”

They now realized that from the very start, this Primeval Flame had a specific target. And astonishingly, the target was Angel, the weakest in terms of strength among them and who had been consistently overlooked by everyone!

No one had expected that the Primeval Flame would choose Angel.

“I told you this Angel was hiding something; his relationship with the night innkeeper is definitely not ordinary,” remarked a wizard from Gravity Forest, now certain that the one who could control the Primeval Flame must be the night innkeeper.

“Not only that, but did you notice, after we arrived in Lassudral, this series of events, Angel has somehow been at the center of the maelstrom several times,” someone pointed out.

They then recalled that since the very beginning, from the enigmatic shopkeeper who had stirred the winds of change in Lassudral, to the majority of information that was passed by him, and now the Primeval Flame’s choice of Angel as well.

Even if he had always been on the outside of all the events, the center of the swirl involuntarily shifted toward him.

Why was that? The crowd couldn’t help but to look at Luci.

They hoped that the only Prophet Wizard present could provide an answer. Sadly, Luci shook his head; he had attempted to spy on Angel earlier in secret, yet… he nearly suffered a backlash from his own Divination.

As Luci didn’t provide an answer, they could only look at Sanders.

However, Sanders’s expression was blank, and he said nothing. But in his heart, he sighed quietly, just like everyone else. His premonition had indeed come true.

Watching Angel desperately trying to evade the Primeval Flame, for some reason, there was not a ripple in his heart; he even felt a slight amusement.

In the end, Angel still failed to dodge the Primeval Flame.

The pale yellow Primeval Flame burrowed into the Flame Mark on his earlobe.

Feeling the fluctuation of the Primeval Flame within the mark on his earlobe, Angel was still bewildered. He had no idea why the Primeval Flame would choose him.

Although he too craved the Primeval Flame, his desire stemmed from the tempting fluctuations it emitted. Apart from that, there was no driving force that made Angel want to possess it urgently.

Because he was well aware that once he possessed the Primeval Flame, he would inevitably become a target for all.

Inside and outside the Birdcage, almost every creature would set their sights on him. Then, leaving safely with Fafnir would not be an easy task.

So, rather than desiring the Primeval Flame, Angel would have preferred to avoid extra complications.

However, reality often contradicted his wishes.

Once Angel was confirmed to have received the Primeval Flame, everyone’s gaze toward him carried a hint of envy and hatred. It wasn’t just that he had obtained the Primeval Flame, but also the audacity of the flame to toy with them before revealing its true intentions!

Angel himself felt wronged. He never wanted it, yet why did the Primeval Flame suddenly seek him out?

Angel looked up towards the night innkeeper high in the sky.

The night innkeeper seemed to feel Angel’s gaze and looked back at him with a calm expression.

Angel communicated his confusion through his eyes. The appearance and selection of the Primeval Flame— the only possibility he could think of was that the night innkeeper had made some moves behind the scenes.

But the night innkeeper simply met his gaze quietly, without conveying any emotion, then turned his head away.
