Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3349: Chapter 3350: The Dagger of Fekete

Although they changed to a different tent, the procedure remained much the same as before.

There were too many people in the public display area, so Takiyana still guided them to the ”VIP” area.

”There are many laboratories researching bio-modified weaponry, which makes bio-modified weapons even more diverse compared to biological soldiers. Among the top ones are Godo Laboratory, Chikov Laboratory, Ruke Laboratory... and the Valery Laboratory, which is allowed to exhibit this time,” Takiyana explained as she led the way.

Even though Valery Laboratory is a five-star facility, there are others that specialize more expertly in the field of bio-modified weaponry.

However, weapons of that kind are prohibited from being circulated externally.

Angel: ”According to your meaning, is Valery Laboratory permitted to sell bio-modified weapons because its products are inferior to those of other laboratories?”

Takiyana paused for a moment before saying, ”No... it’s not like that.”

Angel: ”Then why?”

After hesitating for a moment, Takiyana softly replied, ”I don’t know much, but it seems related to funding and quotas.”

Takiyana didn’t elaborate, but Angel could imagine some situations. There’s likely an entanglement of interests behind this. After all, any laboratory always craves funding, and finding ways to maximize quotas is beneficial without harm.

Yet, laboratory research is essentially a strategic resource, requiring official approval for external circulation.

Valery Laboratory managed to break out of the competition among major labs and gain official recognition, suggesting there were both interests and political intrigue involved.

This is probably why Takiyana didn’t wish to say more, as anything involving ”competition” invariably has ”flaws,” which could be considered a kind of ”family secret.”

Takiyana moved past the topic, softly saying, ”Valery Laboratory actually has numerous top-tier bio-modified weapons, but these are not publicly displayed; purchasing them requires the Queen’s approval. While the bio-modified weapons displayed here aren’t top-tier, they are noteworthy, certainly superior to ordinary extraordinary devices... Alchemy weapons.”

Angel heard this, understanding that Takiyana initially intended to say ”extraordinary devices,” but perhaps noticed Angel was a human wizard and opted for terminology more aligned with a wizard’s lifestyle: ”Alchemy weapons.”

In Takiyana’s view, it was just a casual mention. But Angel considered it worthy of closer examination since... he’s an Alchemist, after all.

Soon, they arrived at the new VIP space.

Initially, Angel assumed this space might be smaller than the previous one where soldiers were displayed, given that the presence of giant trolls forced the space to be expanded, while logically, weapon displays should be smaller.

Yet, upon entering here, Angel discovered that this space was not only not small but even taller than the previous one.

Furthermore, the largest display cabinet Angel had seen was placed here.

Unquestionably, Angel was drawn to that largest glass display cabinet and approached it immediately.

There were already quite a few people observing nearby, whispering, pointing, and their eyes carried fear and disbelief.

From a distance, Angel could vaguely see that within the glass display cabinet was a reddish pillar, resembling a sky-reaching column. It reminded him of the myth of the stone monkey Jon mentioned in his childhood, where the monkey born from a stone wielded a weapon that could transform into a sky-reaching pillar.

And when this sky-reaching pillar was minimized, it became a stick, which led Angel to speculate upon seeing the red giant pillar, wondering if it might be a stick capable of changing size?

But upon approaching, Angel realized he was mistaken; it wasn’t a pillar at all but a dagger.

Yes, a dagger, and a short one at that.

It was pressed at the very bottom.

Its true size might be just enough for a normal human to hold, and the reason it appeared as a red pillar was that the dagger continuously bled, coagulating into a towering blood column, within which horrifying faces appeared, along with creatures struggling to break free from the pillar. They gathered densely within the blood column, twisting, menacing, entwining, roaring... as if ready to launch an attack on the outside at any moment.

Seeing this scene, Angel finally understood why the observers were whispering and appeared apprehensive.

Faced with the ghastly spectacle of struggling and entangled visions, even with his strong heart, Angel felt discomfort from the fear-inducing phenomenon.

Lowering his brow, Angel refrained from further observing the chilling blood column, directing his gaze towards the introduction below the display cabinet.

Through the text introduction, Angel learned the dagger’s name: ”Dagger of Fekhter.”

Fekhter, in Yingji clan mythology, is a kind of corpse wizard that feeds on dragons. Since it’s mythical, it must... not exist.

Although named after Fekhter, the dagger of Fekhter’s primary manufacturing materials are not mythological corpse wizards, but a kind of cane slugman who loves eating humans and magical creatures. The Fekhter prefix is merely an aspiration.

Created from the bones of this cane slugman, fused with some unknown biological organs, ultimately forging a vividly intimidating weapon.

However, after reading the introduction of the dagger of Fekhter, Angel found that it did not provide detailed descriptions of its effects, only stating its strong intimidation and unparalleled control.

Was it deliberately not written? Or forgotten?

Curiously, Angel glanced at Takiyana, who immediately understood, quietly explaining: ”Weapons differ from soldiers; if intelligence is leaked, it could harm the buyers. Therefore, the specific information is not recorded.”

After a pause, Takiyana added: ”If the guest wishes to know more, I can inquire, but the answers may still not be complete.”

In plain terms, Takiyana could inquire but without guaranteeing accuracy.

Angel didn’t respond immediately, instead asking: ”Can I attempt an identification?”

Takiyana paused for a moment: ”Does the guest know identification techniques?”

Angel nodded: ”I know some, although not necessarily successfully.”

As an Alchemist, he certainly knew the Alchemy Eye, also known as the Eye of Nalda.

The Eye of Nalda can assimilate external information into the ”server” of the brain, process information through the server terminal, and ultimately deduce roughly accurate intelligence.

This is what Alchemists refer to as identification techniques, not an arbitrary assessment, but instead constructing algorithms using knowledge foundations for deductions.

However, this algorithm is more useful for identifying alchemical devices, whereas the weapon in front of him clearly exhibits activity, classifying it as a biological weapon. Angel was uncertain whether he could gather intelligence successfully through identification.

Takiyana thought for a moment and said, ”Hmm, I’m not sure either, this is the first time a guest has asked this... Let me consult with the head of the Valeri Laboratory.”

As she spoke, Takiyana summoned the Heart Fire flower floating beside her, and right in front of Angel, she plucked a petal and casually tossed it, sending it flying into the unknown Deep Space.

Seeing this, Angel curiously asked, ”Isn’t there a Heart Fire Avatar? What happened to the previous one?”

Takiyana replied as if it were obvious, ”The previous Heart Fire Avatar took on a patrol task.”

”A patrol task?” Angel was stunned. Takiyana’s people were beside her, yet the Heart Fire Avatar took on tasks itself?

Takiyana nodded and explained, ”It’s just a patrol in midair, notifying the officer in case of unexpected events. It’s not necessary to go there in person.”

Angel: ”This...”

One must say, the Yingji Clan’s Heart Fire is quite handy; not only can it act as eyes, but it also serves as an Avatar for multitasking...

About two minutes later, Takiyana got a response: ”I’ve consulted the head of the Valeri Laboratory, and he has agreed to let the guest use the identification spell. However, the energy of the identification spell must not penetrate into the display case, as it might trigger the weapon’s malevolent nature.”

What is meant by ’malevolent nature’, Takiyana didn’t know, but as per Angel’s personal understanding, it probably means fearing that the weapon might get activated, releasing some dangerous maneuvers.

Angel also understood this; being cautious is not wrong. After all, they are guests, and guests should follow the host’s instructions, which Angel certainly must agree to.

But if the energy of the Eye of Nalda can’t come into contact with the entity, the analysis and understanding of the information will lose a significant portion... Angel was already worried about whether the Eye of Nalda could assess, and now with this restriction, he had even less confidence in the identification spell’s effect.

Despite the doubts, Angel still released the Eye of Nalda toward the ”Feiket’s Dagger”.

As a faint glow appeared in Angel’s eyes, various pieces of information began to float above the ”Feiket’s Dagger” in Angel’s vision.

This information included materials, chronology, transcendent, domain... and so on.

However, most of the information was just a series of ”???”.

Soon, Angel compiled all the information seen through the Eye of Nalda and input it all into the ”Server” in his Mind Space.

With the booting of the server, various intricate information was streamlined, core information was purified, and special algorithms were activated.

In the blink of an eye, a deduced intelligence was presented above the server.

Angel’s Heart Thought touched it, and the intelligence was drawn into his mind.

As expected, the identification of ”Feiket’s Dagger” had significant gaps, as there was no way to directly touch the weapon’s body, not even the material information was obtained, which led to considerable errors in the final deductions.

Based on the remaining intelligence and algorithmic deductions, only about one-tenth of the information might have been derived.

From the deduced intelligence, it’s known that ”Feiket’s Dagger” likely has a ’summoning’ effect, which surely is related to those bizarre creatures within the blood pillar.

However, it may not necessarily summon creatures for battle; it might manifest in another way, such as summoning the skills they possessed during their lifetime in combat.

Under the deduction of the Eye of Nalda, only this effect was identified. Although the information obtained is scant, the summoning effect provides some clues to extrapolate other information.

For instance, the fact that ”Feiket’s Dagger” can summon bizarre creatures from the blood pillar suggests, from another angle, that the consciousness of those creatures might still linger.

With the creatures still having consciousness, the controllable space becomes extensive, or rather, the uses and play techniques can be expanded.

And the first thing Angel thought of was... the Crystal Origin of Dreams.

However, it was just a thought; Angel never had any real intention of buying the ”Feiket’s Dagger”. The item doesn’t align with him.

If he were to buy it, it would probably only be to gift to a Bloodline Wizard.

But the Bloodline Wizards close to Angel all have their own combat styles; even an additional ”Feiket’s Dagger” would be superfluous.

As Angel’s thoughts turned, Laplace’s voice came through the Mind Ribbon.

”How was the identification result?”

Angel truthfully relayed the result to Laplace.

Laplace, after hearing, made no comment on the result but instead asked, ”If ’Feiket’s Dagger’ is an alchemical tool, what level do you think it has achieved?”

Angel thought for a moment: ”If it only has a singular summoning effect, it might just be at the intermediate rank tool level. However, the intelligence I obtained is ultimately incomplete; it likely has other effects I haven’t identified. With these unknown effects, it might barely be considered a high order alchemy tool.”

After Angel finished speaking, Laplace continued, ”Can you refine high order alchemy tools?”

Angel nodded: ”I can.”

After hearing this, Laplace calmly said, ”Then you basically don’t need to look at the upcoming biological modification weapons... I just learned from the people nearby that the strongest weapon in the entire exhibition hall is the ’Feiket’s Dagger’.”

The implication being, since you can refine high order alchemy tools, there’s no need to look at the weapons here.

Actually, Laplace initially intended to compare with the Heart Space because she had witnessed Angel refining it, but on second thought, nothing here could compare to the Heart Space, so she skipped the comparison.

Though Laplace made such a judgment, Angel still proceeded with his own intentions and continued to wander the exhibition hall for a while longer, ultimately... he exited.

The core forging technique for biological modification weapons is probably still related to that special mysterious object, and it’s tough for Angel to learn anything from it.

And after a cursory look, although the biological modification weapons here have their own unique features, they are more or less equivalent to mid to low-level alchemical tools.

And mid to low-level alchemical tools, Angel can easily refine. If he applies the Mad Hat coronation during the refining process, the effects might even reach high order tools, or even higher tiers.

So, there’s really no need to continue browsing.

As Angel was leaving the weapons exhibition, Takiyana received the information transmitted by Sipolov: Senior General Oleg agreed to meet with them.
