Villain Extra: Rogue Reader

Almost everyone in the cafeteria was startled by Ray’s insistence.

”Young Master!!” Belva called out to him.

She was dumbfounded by his demand. The professor had already apologized, and that was already a big step.

”Shush! The adults are talking!” Ray scolded Belva.

’But I’m older...’ Belva wanted to argue back, but decided against it.

She knew very well how stubborn Ray could be.

There was literally no chain that existed in this world that could possibly change his mindset.

’He’s insane, alright.’ Samantha thought to herself. She no longer felt she received special treatment from him because he does the same to everyone.

No discrimination or specific target. Or at least that was what she thought.

No one at present could actually guess Ray’s true thoughts aside from fellow rogue readers.

’My free skill!!! How could I let you go easily? Cough it up first!’ He was determined to devour her today.

The loophole only worked if his opponent admitted defeat or the defeat was obvious.

It was like how Samantha didn’t claim she lost, but by running out of time in the chess, she had already lost.

Hence, Ray was able to devour her skills.

”You really have no respect.” Margaret twitched her mouth. To think a student would repeatedly force her to apologize was something else.

Nobody else could imitate such an act. He broke a record for being the first and probably the very last one to corner a professor in such a manner.

Ray remained silent, but his expression made it clear that he was waiting.

”Fine, I admit defeat. Happy now?” Margaret hissed and snapped her fingers to teleport away. It was truly a mistake to show up early or even appear when Ray was present.

’Woohoo, free skill. You’ve heard of that system. She admitted defeat. Quickly show me the list of skills to devour.’

[You are unbelievable...]

Even the system was rendered speechless and might start to regret its decision to allow this loophole.

The only saving grace was that once a skill was devoured, there would be a cooldown period. Otherwise, who knows how much further Ray would go to antagonize others in return for the skills?

Once Margaret vanished from the scene, Belva glanced around the situation and finally spotted the orb. She didn’t say anything, but her facial expression made it clear that she didn’t wish to be spied on.

”Sigh, looks like I can’t spy anymore.” Margaret, who had returned to her office, exhaled softly. She knew that the moment she showed up, the spying orb device would be exposed.

After all, the spying orb device had a very low presence and was difficult to detect. But Belva, who had been researching with her, knew about the orb and could detect it if she paid close attention.

She simply failed to discover them previously because she didn’t try to detect them, but now she probably would inspect everything.

Once the orb was retrieved, Belva heaved a sigh of relief back at the cafeteria.

She took a glance at Ray and noticed he was dazed again. ’Seems like Ray didn’t notice the orb. That’s good.’

She feared that once he realized the existence of the spying orb device, he might go confrontational with Professor Margaret again.

Lucky for her, she didn’t need to worry about that because Ray was more concerned about the available skills to devour.

’Sheesh, I need more professors like Margaret to show up. If only the character profile were revealed to me about who else owes Belva a huge debt. I would have gone knocking on their doors.’ Ray wanted to know how he could get the information without bringing back Belva’s trauma.

He was a villain, but an ethical villain.

Everyone would agree with him. He was very benevolent to Belva and even stood up for him against an entity like Margaret.

It was totally not because he knew exactly Margaret wouldn’t really lay a hand on a student unless they broke an academy law.

The submerged memories in his subconscious were slowly rising back up.

He had recalled that Margaret managed to redeem herself by going against all odds to defend the rogue Belva.

She might have fallen, but every reader sympathized with her death.

Why was that?

She knew precisely that she would die, but still chose that end.

Unfortunately, the side she chose was the opposite of the protagonist’s, and by default, she was destined to lose.

The plot armor was too thick and heavy.

[The available skills to devour from Margaret: Teleportation, Mental Fortitude, Mana Control, Fusion, and Rebound.]

’Can I take 3 skills?’ Ray quickly asked. His eyes were on Teleportation, Mental Fortitude, and Mana Control. Each one of them was immensely useful to him.

[Are you the protagonist or an extra here? Either one of those skills is broken, and you want 3? Keep dreaming!]

Sure enough, the system lashed out at him for being greedy. These were all top-tier skills that required a Mage many years to master.

The fact that he could inherit these skills immediately on the spot without needing to go through the learning process was already a huge cheat.

[Also, your Abyssal Dominion Core is still weak, so once you choose one of the skills, it will be your limit. This isn’t nerfing you, but if your Core is still weak and wants to contain more skills, it will implode. You should know that as a reader and gamer, you have a limited capacity.]

Ray nodded his head in agreement. He knew there was bound to be a limit somehow. An unlimited absorption was basically a god-level cheat, and there was no way the author Chasing Star would be that nice to him.

However, just because he knew about the limitation doesn’t mean he didn’t have another loophole in store.

’Since I can’t contain more, how about I get to delete one of the devoured skills and replace it with another? You better not deny this because it would be ridiculous.’ He asked cheekily, hoping to swap the skills for a better one.
