Rising Shards

I wasn’t really sure about a lot of things for this hang out with myself, Pippi, and Kitty. One, what was Kitty’s angle here? Was she really just curious about Pippi? If I was feeling cynical and perhaps conspiratorial, I’d guess elaborate prank, but I learned a lot of the telltale signs of pranks after I unfortunately ended up on too many prank reality shows. And this didn’t feel like a prank. When Kitty pranked, it was usually a one step process. I walk up to her and she throws a whipped cream pie in my face. Kitty makes a rope across the bottom of the door to the faculty office and makes someone trip. That sort of thing.

I also didn’t really know what we were going to be doing, and imagined that we’d probably be at the whims of Kitty for planning. It just seemed strange.

Pippi and I wanted to have some time to ourselves beforehand, some just us snuggling time to not make us both horndogs thinking Kitty wanted a threesome or something. We were just hanging out! But as we cuddled on Pippi’s bed in the aftermath, I think Pippi noticed I was spacing out a bit as we sat together a few hours before our hang out or whatever this would be with Kitty.

”All good?” Pippi asked. ”You were feeling great a few minutes ago, so I know it wasn’t that.”

”Heh, definitely not that,” I said. ”Just thinking about what Kitty’s deal is.”

”I get that,” Pippi said. ”For a public figure, she is kind of harder to read when you get to know her. And I’m basing that off of like a conversation, you’ve actually slept with her.”

”I feel like I understand her less after that, somehow,” I said. I tried to sound profound to really show I was thinking deeply about this, but I don’t know if Pippi noticed. So I did what I do best, I kept talking. ”One time I went to Kitty’s place, and she had a bottle of vinegar, I dunno what she was cooking with it, but she got a bit on her hand, so I thought it’d be funny to lick it. And it actually tasted kinda good.”

”Huh...” Pippi said.

I grabbed Pippi’s hand and licked in the center of her palm to show what I meant.

”Why’d you do that?” Pippi asked. ”I don’t have vinegar on my hand, goof.”

”No, but I like your hands,” I said.

”Did that...taste good?” Pippi said.

”Uh huh,”

”Weirdo,” she hugged me.

”Heheh, you’re weird too, Pippi,” I said.

”Would it help with your nerves if we went over our ground rules again?” Pippi said.

”Perhaps,” I said.

”Gotcha,” Pippi said. ”First, we’re taking this one step at a time and not thinking too much. You and Kitty were friends with benefits, not a couple, she probably just wants to hang out, so we’re not gonna force it or really press it. If she does ask us about it and if we do all decide we want more want more, we are exploring poly business, so we can do that. And if we do do that, we’ll take it slow. And no matter what, you’re my favorite adorable pookie.”

”And you’ll always be my favorite too, even if we include a bunch more in our polycule!” I said. ”And that’s if we get a polycule.”

”Right, I’m perfectly happy with just you, too,” Pippi said.

I sighed, relieved.

”That help?” Pippi asked. ”It helps me just saying that out loud.”

”Most definitely,” I said.

Pippi checked the time. ”We have a bit before we really have to clean up and get ready, please tell me ’most definitely’ again if you wanna go for another round before then?”

”Most definitely!” I repeated with more gusto this time.
