Chapter 120: Chapter 49: ”Rabbit Hole” Strategy Seminar

Wen Xiao, who hadn’t spoken for a while, popped up again in the chat: ”That makes a lot of sense. So what’s the current trending topic? The rainstorm, classes resuming? Or...”

As soon as that message was sent, several of them realized the answer almost simultaneously. Right now, on the JCU campus—and even across Jiangcheng’s entire university circle—there was only one massive trending topic.

”The Midnight Bus,” Yu Xian replied.

Shi Zuozhou sent a voice message, sounding excited: ”Holy crap, you’re right! Isn’t the biggest trend right now that audio file? All those posts begging for scripts, resources, and custom requests are about to blow up the campus confession wall!”

”If we step up right now and consolidate all these related posts, scripts, and guides together...” Yu Xian’s fingers flew across his keyboard. ”Since these audio files aren’t strictly illegal and exist in a legal gray area, we can definitely create a resource-sharing platform to generate traffic.”

Shao Yiyi seemed to highly approve of this idea. She replied, ”I was looking into this after I went back yesterday. Everyone is searching for this stuff right now, but the resources are scattered all over the place. Some are on forums, some in group chats, and some on cloud drives. The links expire easily, and they’re hard to find.

”So you want to make a... resource site?”

Shi Zuozhou instantly understood Yu Xian’s plan. Thrilled, he immediately started a group voice call. Yu Xian and Shao Yiyi accepted almost simultaneously, and Wen Xiao’s voice could be heard coming from Shao Yiyi’s end of the line.

”Old Yu! This idea is absolutely badass!” Shi Zuozhou’s booming voice blasted through the speaker, carrying uncontainable excitement. ”Everyone is begging for resources everywhere. If we can make a hub platform to collect all the scripts for the ’Midnight Bus,’ ’Zombie Siege,’ and ’Cultivation,’ and then throw in some tutorials and guides, the traffic will definitely explode!”

”Yes, yes, exactly!” Shao Yiyi chimed in. ”This is like someone handing you a pillow right when you’re nodding off! As long as we package ’Rabbit Hole’ as the most comprehensive dream resource site on the entire internet, people will definitely line up to download from us!”

Wen Xiao’s voice drifted over from a distance. ”But we still don’t understand the core of that audio file. If there really is something wrong with it, wouldn’t doing this... be considered aiding and abetting?”

Yu Xian nodded. He had actually thought about this plan yesterday. The reason he hadn’t brought it up immediately was because it was still unknown what exactly was hidden inside that audio. Morally speaking, it seemed a bit hard to justify.

The group call fell silent for a long time, the spark of excitement instantly extinguished. Everyone seemed to realize the gravity of the problem.

After a long while, Yu Xian broke the silence. ”Personally, I think desperate times call for desperate measures.”

He had thought about this for a while. Since he was the one who started the topic, he needed to lead everyone forward. Moreover, he had an even better plan and hypothesis in mind, but it wasn’t appropriate to share it publicly in the group chat just yet. He would need to speak with Wen Xiao privately after the call.

Pushing those thoughts aside, Yu Xian said seriously, ”The flood is already here, and we can’t stop it on our own. Since we can’t stop it, we might as well build a ship and gather everyone on board.”

He paused, then voiced his concerns. ”If we don’t fight for resources and secure a trump card, we’ll just be drifting with the current, utterly helpless. We’ll be forced to watch things escalate while passively taking a beating.” ℴ

Shi Zuozhou’s tone regained some confidence. ”Are we... learning the enemy’s tricks to beat them at their own game?”

”Exactly.” Yu Xian took over, revealing his true master plan. ”If ’Rabbit Hole’ becomes everyone’s primary portal for resources, then we control the narrative and hold the power to set the standards. If we eventually crack those two ’black box’ components, we can even audit the uploaded audio files and guide everyone toward relatively safe versions. But most importantly...”

Yu Xian looked at the rain outside the window, his gaze profound. ”Once we develop an ’antivirus software’ capable of countering them, we can use this massive, already-established network to push the cure to everyone’s phones overnight. This is what you call...”

He let the words hang in the air for a brief moment.

”A Trojan Horse.”
