Kinky Temptation

The girl huddled in the cramped, pitch-black darkness of the hidden cellar. Dust choked her lungs, and the oppressive silence inside the narrow space seemed to press in on from all sides. Her heart hammered so loudly in her ears she thought it might give her away.

Outside, beyond the thin wooden walls, chaos reigned.

Shouts, sharp and cruel echoing through the village, punctuated by piercing screams of terror and agony. The metallic clang of swords clashing, sickening thwock of arrows hitting flesh, and heavy thud of booted feet on packed earth grew louder, closer.

Terrified, the girl crept forward, pressing her face against the cold stone wall. Near the ceiling, a tiny crack let in a sliver of dusty light. Peering through it, she saw a narrow slice of the road leading to her front door.

Her breath hitched as heavy black boots appeared, kicking up dirt when they ran. Then came the horrifying sound of impact, flesh hitting earth with sickening finality.

The girl gasped, pressing small, dirty hands over her mouth to hold back a sob, eyes fixed on the scene unfolding below.

It was her father.

He lay sprawled face-down in the dirt, his once strong back riddled with deep, jagged gashes oozing red onto dry earth. His makeshift weapon - the broken hoe, lay useless nearby, shattered into splinters.

Above him, three figures stood, men cloaked in heavy black robes, faces obscured by shadowy hoods.

”Who are you?” Ethan roared, his voice thick with blood but still defiant. He grunted through the pain and pushed himself onto his hands and knees. ”Why are you doing this?!”

He launched himself at the nearest robed figure, a desperate, primal scream tearing from his throat. But he was too slow, too weakened.

The robed man sidestepped casually. In one swift motion, his companion thrust a long, cruel blade through Ethan’s chest. The sharp schunk of metal piercing flesh was a sound the little girl knew would haunt her dreams forever.

Ethan’s roar choked into wet gurgle. His body convulsed once, then went terrifyingly still, slumping to the ground when the blade was wrenched free.

A choked cry escaped the girl’s lips, muffled against her palm. Tears streamed uncontrollably down the dirty cheeks. ”F…Father…,” she whimpered into the stifling darkness.

One of the robed figures, his voice barely audible under the hood, barked an order. ”Search the house. Make sure no one is hiding.”

Two of the men kicked open the flimsy front door, splintering the wood. Their heavy boots stomped across floorboards inside the kitchen.

The girl froze, paralyzed by terror. The pantry door was just a thin barrier. She could hear them moving, overturning furniture, searching.

Closer… closer…

One boot-step echoed right in front of the pantry entrance. The girl shrunk back as far as she could into the shadows, trembling violently, holding her breath. A shadow fell across the door. A gloved hand grasped the handle.

But then, a scream echoed from inside the house, her mother’s, high and piercing.

Footsteps paused, the hand released the pantry handle.

”Over here!” the man near the door called, his voice harsh. ”Found one!”

The boots stomped away, heading towards the source of the scream.

Outside the pantry door, the sounds of struggle were agonizingly clear. Furniture scraped across the floor. A crash echoed through the room, followed by sharp sound of shattering glass. Her mother cried out , sound of desperation and defiance.

”Wait!” her mother’s voice rang out, momentarily clear. ”You… you are not the high elf! You are the C…!”

A harsh grunt, a meaty thud, then the unmistakable sounds of a struggle intensifying. Finally a choked gasp, cut brutally short by the wet, sickening sound of steel cleaving flesh.

Silence.

A silence deeper and more horrible than any that had come before. It stretched, aching and unnatural in the chaos outside the house. The only break was a soft, choked gurgle… and a gentle thud that vibrated through the floorboards and into the little girl’s bones.

The ’special words’ her mother’s promise… it was gone. Snuffed out forever.

The little girl pressed her hands harder against her ears, shaking violently, trying to shut it all out. But she couldn’t. The echoes of her mother’s final cry played over and over in her terrified mind.

From outside, the cruel, triumphant laughter of the men in black robes filtered into her hiding place. Harsh, guttural sounds cut through the silence of death like poison. The darkness pressed in, suffocating. Dust filled her mouth, tasting like despair.

”You should not have done that, fool,” one of the men grunted, anger filled his voice. ”She could have fetched a good price. Look at her… the skin, the face… such a waste.”

”She know about us,” the second man snarled defensively, wiping his blade clean on the fallen woman’s dress. ”Too big a risk. That whore will fetch nothing but trouble.”

The first man sighed, a harsh, irritated sound. ”True enough. But he won’t be pleased. He likes his pets untarnished… and breathing.”

”He’ll be plenty pleased with the rest of the haul,” the second retorted. ”The children are young and fresh.” He nudged a small, blood-stained boot lying near the door.

”Pity,” the first agreed, his tone flat. He straightened, casting one last look around the ransacked kitchen, littered with the shattered remnants of a peaceful life. ”Enough. The others will be done by now. Let’s move. Cleaning team will come soon”

Without a backward glance at the carnage, they strode from the house. Their heavy footsteps receded, fading into the sounds of the massacre.

Inside the dark cellar, the little girl remained frozen. Time lost all meaning. Minutes stretched into hours, hours into an eternity of silence punctuated only by her own ragged breaths and the frantic pounding of her heart.

The oppressive stillness grew absolute, settling over the ruined village like a shroud. The girl’s sobs had subsided, her body numb. The terrible sounds of slaughter had stopped, replaced by an eerie, hollow silence broken only by the distant crackle of flames licking at thatched roofs and the moaning wind.

Then… a sound.

A soft, rhythmic click-click-click.

Close. Right outside the cellar door.

The girl’s heart leapt into her throat, choking off a terrified gasp.

They were coming back?

They knew she was there?

They’d find her!

She pressed a dirty palm harder against her mouth, eyes wide with panic. Her whole body tensed, ready to flee deeper into the suffocating darkness.

The clicking grew louder, sharper.

’Was it a sword? Was it…?’ Her mind raced in horrifying circles.

Then, a voice, muffled but unmistakably not the cruel rasp of the men in robes.

”Hello? Is anyone… anyone hiding in there?”

The voice was gentle, trembling slightly. A man’s voice, but soft, filled with concern.

The little girl held her breath. ’It wasn’t them. But… who was it? Could it be safe?’ She didn’t dare respond.

”Please… answer if you hear me…”

Reality returned. Miriel’s hand trembled slightly while she spoke, the past still lingering in her mind. ”That man might very well be the reason I still draw breath today,” she said softly, her gaze growing distant again. ”If not for him, I…”

She caught herself, swallowing the rest of the words. Her voice was quiet, tinged with an emotion she didn’t fully understand - warmth that sat oddly alongside lingering grief.

”And who is he?” Lyssandra asked, her hand resting gently on Miriel’s shoulder.

The gesture of assurance warmed the Saintess’s heart. ”His name is Matthiel,” she said. ”He’s… he is a good man.” The words came out with a reverence that surprised even herself. ”The most kind, gentle soul I’ve ever encountered.”

She paused before adding, ”Since we’re heading toward Agos, you’ll meet him eventually.”

Lyssandra noticed something in Miriel’s expression that didn’t fully add up. The girl praised this man, praised him with a fervency that seemed almost excessive. Her silver eyes held a warmth bordered on devotion, a glow mirrored what she’d described for him.

”Is that so?” Lyssandra murmured, note of curiosity in her tone.

Miriel smiled, a small, genuine smile transformed her face. ”Yes. He saved my life on three separate occasions during the worst of the conflict. He risked his own safety for strangers.”

She stopped again, swallowing the rest of the words.

Something strange was happening to her. Lyssandra could feel it, the faintest pulse of something beyond ordinary.
