Invincible Snake Emperor

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: The Experiment Begins

Chen Mo stood quietly, holding the Snake Gene Potion and watching the Mangshan Ironhead Snake. He was ready to begin but decided to wait. He was waiting for one more person to arrive, someone to witness the birth of a peerless Snake Species with him.

A short while later, a dashing man in a sharp suit entered the lab. He had strong brows and sharp eyes, and an air of authority radiated from him even without a trace of anger. This was none other than Dongfang Ye, the chairman of the Shanye Group.

When Dongfang Ye entered the lab and saw Chen Mo standing before a Mangshan Iron Head in a state of excitement, his eyes lit up. He strode over and asked, ”Doctor, are we ready to begin?”

This experiment had cost the Shanye Group a great deal of money and resources, but Dongfang Ye had given Dr. Snake his full support, serving as his staunchest backer.

He knew that if Dr. Snake’s research succeeded, the greatest beneficiary would be none other than himself and his Shanye Group.

A successful anti-cancer drug, a Spirit Medicine that could grant eternal youth—such a discovery would be priceless beyond measure.

Even Dongfang Ye, a man who had seen and done it all, was struggling to remain calm.

This was an experiment that could make history. Its success would be unimaginable.

”Doctor, are you confident?” Dongfang Ye suddenly asked, looking at Chen Mo.

But Chen Mo shook his head, his expression uncertain. ”Success hinges on a single condition,” he said faintly. ”That this snake can withstand the python genes.”

If it couldn’t, the experiment would obviously be a failure.

”This Mangshan Iron Head is already a rare Snake Species. If even it can’t handle it, what other snake could?”

Dongfang Ye frowned. If the experiment failed, things would get complicated. Where would they find another rare Snake Species?

He wasn’t afraid of spending money; the problem was that a rare Snake Species couldn’t be bought, even if you had the cash.

”We’ll know soon enough, once we see the results of the experiment.”

Dr. Snake, Chen Mo, prepared to begin. Dongfang Ye took a few steps back to watch from a distance, while Chen Mo took a small step forward, moving closer to the long, rectangular table.

A man in a white lab coat gingerly handed a syringe to Dr. Snake. With even greater care, Dr. Snake drew the Snake Gene Potion into the syringe.

At that moment, the Mangshan Iron Head on the table watched Chen Mo, its eyes gleaming coldly. The long syringe in his hand made the snake uneasy and fearful.

Once everything was ready, Dr. Snake held the syringe and fixed his gaze on the snake. A faint, cold aura began to radiate from his body.

This aura perfectly complemented the innate chill of the venomous snake, making them seem one and the same.

Perhaps this was the result of Chen Mo spending decades, day in and day out, in contact with venomous snakes, branding him with their mark.

”Hiss...”

The Mangshan Iron Head let out a low hiss, filled with unease. Under that intense gaze, the snake, which was over two meters long, slowly coiled up. A flicker of fear appeared in its Snake Pupils.

”Hiss hiss...”

There was another hissing sound, but strangely, it didn’t come from the Mangshan Iron Head. This ”hiss hiss” came from the mouth of Dr. Snake, Chen Mo, and it sounded exactly like a snake.

Watching from behind, Dongfang Ye’s eyes suddenly lit up. ’The Doctor is talking to the snake.’

It was an unbelievable sight. ’How can a person make the same sounds as a snake? How could he possibly be conversing with it?’

But he knew Dr. Snake could do it. This wasn’t the first time the doctor had demonstrated such a miraculous Skill in front of him.

From a former Snake Catcher and snakebite physician to his current status as a doctor of the Snake Race, it seemed that when it came to snakes, nothing was beyond Chen Mo’s abilities.

After any of Chen Mo’s ”conversations” with a snake, the creature would unconditionally obey his commands, becoming completely docile.

After Dr. Snake hissed several more times, he stretched out a hand that was little more than skin and bone, palm open. The Mangshan Iron Head immediately slid its Snake Head into his palm.

Chen Mo raised the syringe. The tip of the fine needle glinted under the lights as he plunged it into the Mangshan Iron Head’s brightly colored underbelly.

The Mangshan Iron Head didn’t struggle in the slightest, as if it had accepted its fate. It let out a few low whimpers, trying to endure the pain in its belly.

Dr. Snake’s eyes flashed. His mouth moved, and he made a few more sounds, as if to comfort it. ’Don’t be afraid, child. Just bear with it, and it will be over soon.’

For if this snake could endure this trial, it would be like a phoenix reborn from the ashes or a carp leaping over the Dragon Gate—utterly transformed and greater than it had ever been.

As the plunger was depressed, the eyes of both Dr. Snake and Dongfang Ye lit up with excitement and anticipation.

What kind of chemical reaction would occur when python genes were injected into the body of a venomous snake?

Would it truly elevate the snake’s bloodline, as Dr. Snake had predicted, turning it into a peerless Snake Species that the world had never seen before?

Once the python genes were fully injected into the Mangshan Iron Head’s body, Dr. Snake took a few small steps back to stand beside Dongfang Ye.

With the genes injected, the next step was to observe the snake’s reaction. A history-making moment was upon them. Whether the peerless Snake Species would be born all came down to what happened next.

Several staff members in face masks stood by, their expressions solemn as they prepared to document the changes in the snake’s body following the injection of the python genes.

The moment Dr. Snake stepped back, the Mangshan Ironhead Snake let out a piercing, hissing shriek. It immediately began to convulse. Its body, over two meters long, twitched uncontrollably on the table before it started to roll and thrash about as if it were being electrocuted.

The staff members hurriedly recorded these phenomena, careful not to miss a single detail.

Experts appreciate the finer points while laymen just enjoy the show. Dongfang Ye was very much a layman, here to witness history. He hadn’t expected the snake’s reaction to the python genes to be so violent; it seemed to be in incredible pain.

”Doctor, this is...”

Dr. Snake, Chen Mo, watched with a blank expression, suppressing his excitement. He made no move to answer Dongfang Ye. His eyes were completely fixed on the writhing Mangshan Iron Head.

No one knew just how tense and unsettled he was in that moment. He had waited for this for so, so long, and had made countless preparations.

Dongfang Ye had only invested money and resources; all the subsequent pressure had fallen squarely on Chen Mo’s shoulders.

HISS... HISS...!

The Mangshan Iron Head continued to thrash on the long table, letting out wretched cries. The sound was so sinister and terrifying it made one’s skin crawl, like the shriek of a Fierce Ghost.

It shrieked and wailed as if being slowly Devoured by darkness, its agony so immense it made the onlookers’ scalps tingle with dread.

Suddenly, the eyes of the thrashing, wailing Mangshan Ironhead Snake changed color. Its Snake Pupils turned crimson as blood, becoming Spiritual and Fierce.

”ROAR...”

It suddenly opened its gaping maw toward Dr. Snake and Dongfang Ye and let out a furious roar, snapping its jaws as if to bite them. The sight was utterly terrifying.

Following that, an icy, sinister aura erupted from the Mangshan Iron Head’s body. The ambient temperature plummeted instantly, and faint ripples appeared in the very air.

If Tu Xiao’an had been there, he would have discovered through his Conscious Insight that the Mangshan Ironhead Snake’s Level was skyrocketing, jumping up one Level after another, undergoing an Ascension as fast as a rocket.
