I Can Devour Spirits

Chapter 701: Chapter 431: Red Fire Elephant (Part 2)

The nose root of another Red Fire Elephant suddenly turned red, like a red-hot branding iron, and then it sneezed, “Achoo!” A flaming ball shot out from its mouth.

The moment the flaming ball appeared, it carried a violent heat within, shooting urgently toward Wu Shidao in mid-air!

Wu Shidao was well aware of the power of the Red Fire Flame spewed by an adult Red Fire Elephant. He had to slightly adjust his posture in mid-air, letting the Red Fire Flame graze his shoulder. Even with the protection of Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi, a wisp of smoke rose from the side of Wu Shidao’s left shoulder.

The Red Fire Flame then hit the ground behind Wu Shidao, where the terrain was bare rock by the cliffside, almost devoid of any grass.

The Red Fire Flame shattered as it hit the rocky ground, turning instantly into a sea of raging flames!

In the moment when Wu Shidao’s movement was hindered, the Red Fire Elephant pushed off the cliff wall, leaping forward. Its mountainous body was about to land before the Red Fire Elephant with its nose entangled, aiming a large foot at Fan Hongjiao’s taut Python Whip.

Fan Hongjiao frowned slightly and swiftly withdrew the Python Whip.

In fact, from the moment Wu Shidao was forced back by the Red Fire Flame, their sudden joint attack was doomed to fail.

Wu Shidao wielded an Iron Ruler, while Fan Hongjiao held the Python Whip; the two positioned themselves east and west, surrounding the Red Fire Elephant.

At this moment, the eyes of the two adult Red Fire Elephants turned bloodshot as they glared angrily at the two of them, while the five infant elephants spun around behind the two adult Red Fire Elephants, terrified.

The flames behind Wu Shidao, however, showed no signs of weakening or extinguishing. Instead, they seemed to burn more fiercely.

On a piece of bare rocky ground, how could the fire grow stronger?

Duan Rong hid in the shrubs, his pupils contracting as he watched the flames not far away.

He saw the rocks at the base of the flames melting!

Exactly what kind of flame could melt rocks?

Moreover, the melted rocks slowly flowed outward, clearly showing that the rock’s liquid was also burning…

Were these flames really so formidable!?

Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao’s intervention merely kept Duan Rong, Lu Geng, and Wang Yue hidden in the shrubbery.

So, it turns out the Red Fire Elephants are this formidable!

If they rushed out, not only would they fail to harm the Red Fire Elephants, but they would also be in grave danger, forcing Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao to constantly save them.

If that were the case, it would be better for Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao to face it alone.

Soon, Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao were engaged in a fight with the two adult Red Fire Elephants, and the area near the cliff was soon surrounded by fierce flames.

At this moment, amidst the surrounded flames, the adult female elephant suddenly let out a roar.

The roar of the female elephant had a tone of sorrow and lament, but it was not injured; it was communicating with the five infant elephants.

After a round of fighting, the mother elephant realized how difficult the two humans before her were to deal with. She had a premonition that she might die here.

That roar was to tell the infant elephants to escape quickly.

The five infant elephants, upon hearing the mother’s roar, though flustered, still followed the cliff for a distance and ducked into the dense forest.

Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao did not pursue and kill the five fleeing infant elephants, as doing so in front of the mother elephant would certainly drive her into a complete frenzy.

Thus, the two allowed the five infant elephants to escape into the dense forest.

In fact, Wu Shidao had already planned for this scenario.

At the moment the five infant elephants escaped into the forest,

Lu Geng, Wang Yue, and Duan Rong, hidden in the shrubs, quietly retreated into the forest as well.

The two adult Red Fire Elephants were entangled with Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao, not noticing what was happening in the shrubbery.

Lu Geng, Wang Yue, and Duan Rong quickly dashed into the forest, heading in the direction of the five infant elephants.

Although the five infant elephants were already quite large, they were still young beasts, with undeveloped intelligence. Now suddenly without the protection of their parents, they were even more frantically running around the forest.

In this Dark Forest, fraught with danger and without the protection of two adult Red Fire Elephants, the odds of them surviving to maturity were slim. If the mother elephant had not deeply sensed her impending death, she wouldn’t have let the five infant elephants escape on their own.

The five infant elephants were soon surrounded by Lu Geng, Wang Yue, and Duan Rong.

Wang Yue, wielding the Butterfly Double Sabers, attacked from both sides, killing two infant elephants with a single move.

The remaining three infant elephants, in panic, let out desperate cries, their faces flushed, and spat out rather dim fireballs.

These fireballs were clearly not as powerful as those from an adult fire elephant, and much slower, unable to harm Duan Rong and the others, merely setting some nearby grass and trees on fire.

By the cliff, the mother elephant heard the cries of the infant elephants from the forest and immediately went berserk, wanting to charge into the woods, but was repeatedly tripped by Fan Hongjiao’s Python Whip, while the cries of the infant elephants within the forest fell silent.

In the forest, Lu Geng, Wang Yue, and the others gazed at the bodies of the five infant elephants on the ground, their eyes gleaming with joy. The bodies of these five infant elephants were nearly as large as those of other adult Low-Tier Primordial Beasts.

Just then, from beside a tree ignited by the fireballs of the infant elephants, a figure suddenly appeared.
