I Can Devour Spirits

Lu Geng brought Duan Rong once again to the Inner Courtyard of the Scripture Repository. Last time, he didn’t have the chance to explain the divisions of each area to Duan Rong before he directly picked up a set of Six Harmonies Saber Sword Manuals.

Lu Geng stood there, looking at Duan Rong, earnestly introducing, ”Little Junior Brother, you use the saber, these racks here are all saber techniques, and those two racks over there are also. You can take your time to choose.”

Duan Rong said with a smile, ”Thank you, Senior Brother Lu, I will choose carefully.”

Lu Geng nodded as Duan Rong already walked into the racks, starting to slowly examine.

Seeing Duan Rong seemed to be seriously selecting this time, Lu Geng prepared to leave.

But as soon as he turned and took a few steps, he caught a glimpse in the corner of his eye of a figure coming out from the very rack he had been watching.

Earlier, he was sure there was only Duan Rong in that row of racks.

Lu Geng abruptly stopped, turned his head, and indeed saw Duan Rong holding a saber manual, coming from the racks towards him.

Duan Rong approached.

Lu Geng looked at him blankly and asked, ”What are you doing?”

Duan Rong extended the saber manual forward slightly and said, ”Ah, Senior Brother Lu, I’ve already chosen! It’s this Wandering Dragon Clear Melody Saber.”

Muscles on Lu Geng’s face twitched slightly; at that moment, he felt an impulse to hit someone.

He thought Duan Rong would learn from last time and carefully choose a cultivation technique, but unexpectedly he’s still so casual about it. Honestly, this kid chooses a cultivation technique as if he’s fooling around.

”Fine, Little Junior Brother! If you keep this up, don’t come to your brother for anything in the future!” Lu Geng finished, face full of indignation, and left in a huff.

Duan Rong sighed softly as he stood there and said, ”This Senior Brother Lu, quite a temper!”

Actually, Lu Geng’s temper is considered good.

Nevertheless, Duan Rong was quite satisfied with the Wandering Dragon Clear Melody Saber manual in his hand. After registering and pressing a hand seal at the guard, he left with the manual.

Duan Rong returned to his room on Yunfu Peak, just sat down, and took a sip of tea when a graceful figure appeared at the doorway, teased sweetly, ”Yo~ Little Junior Brother, haven’t seen you for a few days. Have you been missing Senior Sister?”

Duan Rong was startled and nearly spilled tea all over himself.

Fan Hongjiao said as she gracefully walked over, hand already resting naturally on Duan Rong’s shoulder.

Duan Rong became alert at once, almost jumping, forced a smile on his face, and looked at Fan Hongjiao, saying, ”I wonder what brings Senior Sister here? It’s quite a trouble for you. If you send a servant to call, I would come over.”

Fan Hongjiao glance at Duan Rong, rolled her eyes, and said, ”Sounds nice. Alright, no more nonsense. Come with me to the conference room; the others are waiting.”

Duan Rong’s heart stirred, asked, ”Has Master returned?”

”No! Master isn’t free to consult with us every day. Let’s go!”

Fan Hongjiao said and started heading out, Duan Rong followed immediately.

The so-called conference room is the not-so-large and somewhat simple room where Zhu He first introduced Duan Rong to Fan Hongjiao and the others.

When Fan Hongjiao led Duan Rong into that room, Wu Shidao and Lu Geng were already sitting there.

Besides them, there was another person seated beside Lu Geng, eating a plate of fresh berries, juice dripping from the corners of his mouth.

Upon seeing Fan Hongjiao lead Duan Rong in, that person’s eyes lit up, jumped out of the chair, walked over immediately, circled Duan Rong, examined him, and said, ”So you’re the new Little Junior Brother?”

Duan Rong looked at the man in front of him, short and stout, neither fat nor skinny, eyes rolling energetically. With a slight guess, he realized this person must be Fourth Senior Brother Wang Yue.

Duan Rong cupped his hands and smiled, ”Is it Senior Brother Wang Yue?”

”Wang Yue? Senior Brother?” Wang Yue laughed heartily, turned to Lu Geng, and shouted excitedly, ”Old Lu! See that? Someone calls me Senior Brother now!”

”Good, good Junior Brother!” Wang Yue looked at Duan Rong with great joy. ”From now on, if anything happens, just report my name, and I’ll have it settled for you.”

Wang Yue had been at Yunfu Peak for five years, always the youngest junior brother, now with Duan Rong to take over the youngest spot, he was truly delighted.

”Alright! Both of you sit down, we’re discussing official matters!” Lu Geng’s face was a bit unpleasant as he glanced at Duan Rong.

Wang Yue and Duan Rong promptly took their seats.

Wu Shidao’s eyes flickered; these past few days, since Master wasn’t at the peak, Wang Yue returned from handling affairs at Divine Cloud Prefecture. As usual, when Master isn’t around, Wang Yue had to first report to several senior brothers.

Under such circumstances, Duan Rong had not been at the peak for long, normally wouldn’t be summoned, but Fan Hongjiao specifically called Duan Rong over, making Wu Shidao wonder about Fan Hongjiao’s intentions.

Fan Hongjiao saw Wang Yue and Duan Rong had seated, then asked, ”Wang Yue, tell us what’s happening at Divine Cloud Prefecture? Can the candidate for the Minister of the Secretariat be settled?”

Duan Rong sat there, hearing Fan Hongjiao’s question, his heart skipped. So, Wang Yue went to Divine Cloud Prefecture regarding the selection of the next Minister of the Secretariat candidate.

Actually, considering the timing, Duan Rong left Divine Cloud Prefecture after concluding a case only a little over a month ago. Since the case has concluded, the issue of selecting the next Minister of the Secretariat is naturally on the agenda.

Wang Yue sighed and said, ”Hardly coming to an agreement. The two candidates we proposed, they don’t agree. The person they propose isn’t acceptable to us either. I think it’s better to simply let Wang Maochun continue holding the post for now.”
