I Can Devour Spirits

Duan Rong followed Lu Geng into the cave.

At the entrance of the cave was a tightly closed stone gate, in front of which sat a middle-aged man with a gaunt face.

Lu Geng handed over the documents to him, and Duan Rong also gave him his sect cloud scroll.

After verifying them, the man opened the stone gate.

Lu Geng and Duan Rong stepped inside.

Inside the stone gate was a rather spacious and deep area, roughly oval in shape.

On the stone walls, recesses had been chiseled out, each holding a weapon.

In the corner of the room sat an old man with a crane-like whiskers, smoking a long pipe.

As they entered, the old man merely lifted his eyelids slightly and then continued puffing on his pipe.

Staring at the room full of weapons, Duan Rong’s eyes suddenly lit up.

Lu Geng glanced at Duan Rong’s expression and laughed, ”How is it, junior brother? The weapons here are truly dazzling, with all eighteen types present, and the most numerous are the sabers.”

Lu Geng had long noticed that Duan Rong carried a saber at his waist. So, it was clear that the weapon Duan Rong was accustomed to using was a saber.

Duan Rong’s eyes were shining, not because there were many types of weapons and he could choose a satisfactory one. His eyes lit up because it was time for him to touch them again!?

He couldn’t let a single weapon in this room go untouched!?

Duan Rong walked slowly to a longsword closest to the entrance.

Seeing Duan Rong approach the recess with the longsword, Lu Geng was slightly taken aback. He thought Duan Rong used sabers, yet didn’t expect he’d take an interest in swords.

Duan Rong grabbed the longsword, pulled it out from the recess, and held it in his hand. He looked closely at the sword, which was a deep greenish-black, with a smooth and reflective blade.

Duan Rong thought to himself, ”Read the Artifact Spirit!”

Immediately, a set of data appeared before him.

Artifact: Meteorite Iron Longsword

Artifact Spirit Tier: Tier Twelve

Devouring Requirements: Host’s Spiritual Power Level 12 (satisfied)

Devouring Effect: Void Clarity Pure Heart Sword First Level

”A Tier Twelve Artifact Spirit. First Level?” Duan Rong’s heart shook. ”This is a Qi Vortex Realm martial art!”

Martial arts in the Qi Vortex Realm include Mental Realms!

That means this Meteorite Iron Longsword contains some Sword Intent within its Artifact Spirit!

Even if it only achieved the First Level, it indicates that the Sword Intent has initially formed. Otherwise, it could not achieve the First Level of the Qi Vortex Realm!

Duan Rong’s heart was elated; he didn’t expect the first weapon he laid hands on to be a Qi Vortex Realm martial art he’d always longed for.

”Devour!”

As Duan Rong commanded in his mind, the data panel in front of him blurred and disappeared. Only then did he place the deep greenish-black longsword back into the recess.

Then, Duan Rong shifted slightly and took out a Wu Hook from the adjacent recess.

The moment Duan Rong took out the Wu Hook, Lu Geng’s face clearly froze.

He then realized that Duan Rong would stop at every weapon’s recess, take out the weapon, observe for a while, and then return it.

Throughout the process, Duan Rong appeared very focused, as if he were in a state of flow, almost forgetting everything around him.

Lu Geng was slightly surprised. After thinking for a moment, he approached Duan Rong and whispered, ”Junior brother, some of these weapons may not need such close observation, right?”

At that moment, Duan Rong was holding a Judge’s Pen, his eyes bright like stars.

Duan Rong smiled at Lu Geng, as if he hadn’t understood his words, and replied, ”Senior brother Lu, the opportunity is rare! I’ll thoroughly observe each weapon here.”

”Every single one?!” Lu Geng reacted with astonishment as he looked at the hundreds of weapons in the room.

He couldn’t comprehend what Duan Rong was doing! Why put in so much effort?

It’s just about picking a weapon; do you need to look at every single one? And aren’t you a saber user? What do the Judge’s Pen and Wu Hook have to do with you!?

Even if you want to observe, just look at them in the recess. Why take out every single one for such detailed scrutiny? Is that necessary?

Duan Rong devoured several more weapons, and after returning a spear to its recess, he suddenly noticed Lu Geng standing there with a complex expression.

He then realized he had gotten too excited and ignored Lu Geng waiting nearby.

Duan Rong felt a bit embarrassed and smiled, ”Senior brother Lu, why don’t we pick cultivation techniques next? This way, you won’t have to waste time waiting here for me.”

Lu Geng’s eyes flickered, ”Junior brother, I don’t mind waiting for you. It’s just that I don’t quite understand! Why observe every weapon so closely? Do you really think it’s necessary?”

Duan Rong knew it would be difficult to explain, so he evaded, ”Senior brother Lu, just consider this my personal habit!”

”A habit?!” Lu Geng looked at Duan Rong with a peculiar expression.

”Let’s go! Senior brother, let’s pick cultivation techniques first.”

Somewhat reluctantly, Lu Geng followed Duan Rong out.

Actually, he had brought Duan Rong here first to choose weapons because he didn’t want to idle around. He thought choosing a weapon would be relatively quick since one usually knows what type of weapon they are accustomed to, and with the weapons clearly displayed in the recesses, finding a suitable one should be swift.

Then he planned to take Duan Rong to the Inner Courtyard of the Scripture Repository to choose cultivation techniques. Lu Geng believed selecting cultivation techniques would take significantly longer. So, his initial plan was to take Duan Rong there, and then leave so Duan Rong could take his time choosing.
