185: Chapter 185 The Curse of the Nightmare Lord”Thank you.”

Just as Lin Sheng stepped out of the storage room, Yeros’s sincere voice of thanks reached his ears.

Yeros had been paying close attention to the situation inside the storage room; after discovering that Lin Sheng had used some unknown method to set those people free, she felt quite happy in her heart.

Although they weren’t kept alive, at least they didn’t dissipate in pain.

Lin Sheng nodded to Yeros, indicating that he accepted her gratitude.

Then, he looked toward the counter he had noticed when entering, pointing his finger at an unidentified creature’s claw on it.

”That is a part of another Saint, and it’s what we’re looking for this time.”

Under Lin Sheng’s guidance, Yeros finally noticed the completely unremarkable claw on the cabinet.

She had actually carefully examined all the antiques in the shop after entering, yet she had overlooked this claw that resembled a chicken’s foot.

Now that Lin Sheng had pointed it out, Yeros’s first reaction wasn’t to take it, but to wonder: was this truly what she was looking for?

Suddenly, Yeros felt a jolt in her heart.

She realized that she had already been affected by the curse on the claw.

Even though she had just learned this thing was a body part of a Saint, she still felt doubtful about it.

Using divine power to stimulate her senses, Yeros pulled herself together and walked to the base of the cabinet.

Standing on her tiptoes, she just managed to take down the claw.

Feeling the aura within the claw, a subtle sensation suddenly arose in Yeros’s heart.

This claw seemed somewhat different from the previous skull.

She had some suspicions in her heart, but she was unwilling to believe them.

She handed the claw to Lin Sheng.

After Lin Sheng took the claw, streams of information surfaced in his mind.

Then, Lin Sheng spoke:

”She is already dead.”

Hearing this, Yeros’s pupils suddenly constricted.

She had actually guessed this outcome after noticing the difference between the claw and the skull, but she had been unwilling to face reality.

After all, she couldn’t even detect a curse of this level; what if she had guessed wrong?

But once these words came from Lin Sheng’s mouth, Yeros knew her illusions were shattered.

For some reason, this Saint hadn’t survived these long years and was already dead.

”How did she die? Do you know?”

Yeros took a deep breath, her mood appearing particularly dejected at this moment.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng didn’t beat around the bush and replied directly:

”It was because of the ’Lord of Nightmares’; she was tortured to death within a nightmare.”

Recalling the information he had viewed, Lin Sheng couldn’t help but feel slightly alarmed.

The previous Saint had spent fifty million years dully trapped inside a skull; Lin Sheng had thought he was miserable enough.

But this Saint was even more wretched.

Although she had only been sealed for over ten million years, throughout those ten million-plus years, she had been subjected to the torture of nightmares every single moment.

However, Lin Sheng did not tell Yeros the detailed cause of this Saint’s death.

He was worried she wouldn’t be able to accept the reality.

Nevertheless, even without Lin Sheng stating the detailed cause of death, Yeros’s mood appeared exceptionally low.

She held the claw, and the black cloth covering her eyes had unknowingly become damp.

”Sigh.”

”Give it to me first; I’ll clear the curse from it.”

Lin Sheng silently took the claw from Yeros’s hand; he didn’t comfort her because he didn’t know how.

Entering the Deep Realm, Lin Sheng didn’t encounter the Holy Crown Exalted Lord this time, but he didn’t need the Holy Crown Exalted Lord’s help anyway.

Because the Saint of the claw was already dead, Lin Sheng directly and forcibly broke the curse on the claw.

With the curse dispelled, a jade-like skeletal claw appeared before Lin Sheng.

Lin Sheng put away the skeletal claw and left the Deep Realm.

After Lin Sheng returned to the Outer Universe, Yeros’s mood didn’t noticeably improve.

She took the skeletal claw Lin Sheng handed over, then carefully tied it with a string and hung it around her neck.

”Let’s go.”

Yeros spoke softly; Lin Sheng nodded without saying a word.

He thought to himself that he needed to take Yeros to slow down and recover first.

After all, it wasn’t just this one Saint who had suffered the Lord of Nightmares’ curse; there were other Saints later on who had also suffered His curse.

Lin Sheng was worried that Yeros wouldn’t be able to handle it later.

After thinking about it, Lin Sheng decided to temporarily stop searching for Saints; he planned to take Yeros to find some ”humanity.”

Previously, Yeros had experienced the emotion of ”anger,” which was considered a major step forward on the path to ”possessing” humanity.

While Yeros’s emotions were somewhat indifferent when they first met.

But over time, some of her emotions were gradually becoming richer.

At least by now, Yeros’s emotions regarding ”sadness” could be considered fully saturated.

Next, Lin Sheng intended to take Yeros to relax so she could be a bit happier.

...

”Will... will doing this really help find the remaining Saints?”

After Lin Sheng had taken Yeros to do an unknown number of strange things, Yeros finally voiced the doubt in her heart.

Regarding Yeros’s question, Lin Sheng didn’t lie to her.

He shook his head and said:

”No.”

”Your current emotional state isn’t suitable for searching for the next few Saints.”

”I’m helping you find your humanity.”

”Finding humanity? Does it require doing these strange things?”

Yeros looked in confusion at the things Lin Sheng had set up.

Before her was a giant wheel, a train running on a curved track, and some objects she couldn’t understand at all.

”Don’t you think this kind of experience is exciting?”

Seeing that Yeros didn’t seem interested in this Amusement Park, Lin Sheng was also somewhat surprised.

He had noticed it earlier while they were playing.

When she was on the Roller Coaster or the Pirate Ship—those thrilling rides—her expression remained completely indifferent.

Then again, Lin Sheng’s expression had also been very calm at the time; it was just that his attention was always on Yeros, so he hadn’t noticed his own lack of reaction.

”Exciting?”

Yeros asked back in confusion.

She thought about it and soon understood what ”exciting” meant.

”Even if we fell, nothing would happen to us, so why would we feel excited?”

Hearing this, Lin Sheng suddenly had a moment of realization.

He suddenly felt that Omniscience really needed to be kept on at all times.

”How about this: don’t resist, and I’ll seal your power first, letting you temporarily become an ordinary person.”

”Once you’re an ordinary person, you should be able to feel the emotion of ’excitement’.”
