Chapter 1248: Chapter 954: Thorough

Seventy years ago, before the fall of the Heavenly Kingdom.

Lu BaiYan was a promising Sublimator, the head of the support and logistics team in Utopia, and the Great Priestess who poured immense effort and expectation into his role.

But after the Heavenly Kingdom fell, everything changed completely.

A glorious future disappeared without a trace.

All radiant aspirations were shattered by cruel reality, ending in darkness.

Some died in grief, some descended into madness, while many survivors scattered in all directions. Some chose to step into Hell, embarking on an exploration with no return.

From then on, there was no further contact.

Among the majority of survivors, some were judged to be involved with the Golden Dawn and received sentences.

There were others who faced imprisonment and oversight.

”But seventy years ago, did he really betray us? Doesn’t the dossier say there were no specific details...” Huai Shi was puzzled, ”Could it be that just because he’s a suspect, he’s been locked up for seventy years?”

”Otherwise?”

Luo Su retorted, ”He indeed lacked direct evidence, but I didn’t personally kill him either, haven’t he been alive all these years?”

Back then, I even hired someone to defend him as innocent... Although it’s true I extended his sentence a bit, wasn’t he still alive?

He is still alive, able to drink coffee and watch TV every day, even if everything he swore to protect is gone, he can still tell people he’s innocent.

If you say it doesn’t matter, I forgive you, then how can you face those who sacrificed?

As a former partner, I can tolerate him living out his life in a corner, that’s already merciful. But now you’ve seen, he’s chosen to repay me like this—”

”Imagine, Huai Shi—”

Luo Su sneered: ”At this moment, when the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy is about to be reorganized, a traitor waves the flag so boldly in front of the whole world, joining the Golden Dawn. What kind of consequences will this trigger?”

It’s the epitome of black humor.

When everyone uses every last bit of strength to make one final effort before dying, there is a dagger that stabs into your back.

It brings forth the old pain of past division once more.

It exposes once again the sores and scars that led to previous downfall in broad daylight.

Thus, the old news that was dormant for years climbs the headlines again.

In the mocking and sneering glances, a silent collapse occurs.

”I have a question.”

Huai Shi looked at the map and calculated its scale: ”From Iceland to Glenling, then reaching the nearest exit of the three major blockades... After the Source Materialization by a Fourth Stage Sublimator, it only takes four hours, meaning that around now, he would have been long gone, why is he still leisurely wandering in the Current Circumstances? Is it because he can’t get a ride?”

”This is a performance, Huai Shi.” Isaac said: ”A performance prepared by the Golden Dawn for us.”

He adjusted the image, ”Did you see this frame? Pay attention to his hat...”

The video rewinds swiftly and finally freezes on the scene where Lu BaiYan is burning.

A skeleton bathed in flames.

And the solemn Jade Crown atop his head, its texture and shape feel so familiar and intimate, making Huai Shi involuntarily lean closer to observe carefully: ”What is this?”

”National Mourning.”

Isaac said, ”The Event Spirit of the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy, the Miracle Engraved passed down by the Heavenly Inquiry Route, is the Crown of National Mourning captured by the Golden Dawn years ago.

They gave it to Lu BaiYan...”

”Tsk tsk, this is almost as provocatively as riding face.” Huai Shi shook his head and sighed, flexing his neck and fingers, ”I probably understand—so, what do you need me to do? Bring this thing back?”

”No need to bother.” Isaac suggested, ”You can do something more thorough.”

”How thorough?”

”As thorough as you can.” Luo Su said, ”You have to kill him yourself, Huai Shi.”

For the first time, as a teacher, he gave his student such a straightforward command, calm and cold: ”It can’t be done by someone else, it has to be you... You must fulfill your duty as the Great Priestess.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

He said, ”Regardless of consequences, regardless of cost.”

For the new blood of the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy to kill the traitor of the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy.

For the new Great Priestess to kill the old Great Priestess.

Let the waves behind push the waves ahead to die on the shore.

With the quickest and most decisive means, demonstrate to the world, to Hell, to the Golden Dawn, the determination from the Ivory Tower.

”Okay.” Huai Shi nodded, ”I understand.”

”Perhaps there’s more to it, Huai Shi, I know, you don’t like this kind of work.”

Luo Su seemed to smile, asking knowingly: ”Will you hesitate?”

”Does anyone in this world ever think the Sword of Disaster is a good person?” Huai Shi shook his head: ”Come on, Luo Su, I’m not naive enough to think there’s anything good from mingling with the Golden Dawn—so rest assured, I’ll do it, do it promptly.”

It’s a scene he can still dream of after so many long years.

Looking back, everything seemed like yesterday.

The bombing in Tanbo.

Cluster bombs falling from the sky, ruthless executioners, Hell on Earth, blood and fire, the sky turned red by the flames.

More than that, are those innocent lives lost.

And the person who stands and laughs loudly in Hell.

From that moment, no, even earlier, when he witnessed the tragic scenes on Group Star, they were enemies, with no room for any negotiation.
