Chapter 1246: Chapter 952: ’Savior

When Huai Shi and the others returned from the Aerial Courtyard, there was one more person in the team.

In the wheelchair supported by Anna, the curious old man constantly looked around, completely unaware of where he was headed. Occasionally, he would repeat what Luo Su told him.

Go home.

Huai Shi carried a bag of items for the man to use along the way, while more items would be directly sent by Rome to the Ivory Tower.

As he stood again on the airport runway, he couldn’t help but feel emotional. The brief journey with so many experiences left him somewhat exhausted.

”Where are we going next?”

Luo Su didn’t answer.

He just looked down at the message popping up on his phone.

After a while, he slowly raised his head, his expression strange: ”I’m sorry, your journey needs to be temporarily ended, Huai Shi.”

”Ended?”

After repeatedly confirming, Huai Shi couldn’t understand: ”What exactly does this mean?”

He was prepared to be led into a pit by this guy and become a tool once more, but now, without any result, how come it suddenly ended abruptly and incompletely?

You’ve seen the beginning; now you’re not showing the ending. Isn’t this a bit excessive?

Even for a road movie, doing this would make the audience ask for a refund!

”There’s no way around it, there’s always an unexpected event.”

Luo Su replied helplessly: ”I initially planned to take you to Egypt in the end, to see if we could get lucky and have the Pharaoh give you a prophecy, but it seems you don’t have such luck now.”

He said, ”I’ll handle the next things with Marcus; you have other work.”

”Wait, are you not planning to go to Dongxia?”

Huai Shi was also planning to stop by Xinhai and visit the Special Affairs Department to give his old buddy Old Fu a hard time. How come this enjoyable plot didn’t happen?

”Dongxia? Dongxia is actually the least of our worries.”

Luo Su laughed, pointing at Huai Shi: ”Isn’t their answer right here with you? Not to mention Xuan Niao’s support, Chu Hai’s son, the reserved next leader of the Social Security Bureau, and even the Qing Emperor lady greatly nurtures you.

The Yuan Family and Lin Family, both have invested in you. Moreover, the Tanbo Campus has already completed deep cooperation with Dongxia; everyone already has shared interests.

As long as you still exist, Dongxia’s attitude will not change.”

Huai Shi was dumbstruck for a long time. Considering this logic, he suddenly realized... he seems to, somewhat, perhaps really have become the bridge between Dongxia and the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy?

”Is this also Xuan Niao’s foresight?” He asked, shocked.

”If you look at it retrospectively, perhaps yes, but Xuan Niao from Dongxia loves mentoring newcomers, giving without expense, and reaping endless benefits.

Moreover, the Eye of Fate isn’t a mere bluff; even if focused on the bigger picture, it can see your potential... capturing the moment for angel investment is practically a sure-win.”

Talking about this, Luo Su was immediately animated: ”You should pay attention. In the future, if you encounter any potential Sublimators, just give them something. If you don’t have anything on hand, send them an admission letter from our university; it’s more effective than giving money! A few years in college would earn you lifelong goodwill!”

”Wow, isn’t this too utilitarian?” Huai Shi was shocked by the darkness of the adult world.

”Nonsense, this is called ’Fuel in Wintertime Snow’!”

Luo Su rolled his eyes at him: ”However, from my perspective, you’re pretty skilled at this set, and I don’t need to remind you. I’m just telling you that as the Secretary of the Principal’s Office, you can sign admissions freely, and how you use it is up to you. Whether you burn it for fun or send it to kids is irrelevant...”

Huai Shi was skeptical: ”Aren’t you afraid I’ll mess around?”

”Would you?”

Luo Su asked back, leaving Huai Shi speechless.

”You see now, Huai Shi?”

Luo Su laughed with satisfaction: ”Your sense of responsibility is stronger than you think, far stronger. Perhaps your parents set a bad example, causing you to overcorrect a bit. But human energy is limited; sometimes appropriate indifference and ruthlessness are part of adult survival philosophy.”

He said: ”Before loving others, you should love yourself more.”

”What is this?”

Huai Shi asked unhappily: ”Parting words?”

”Ha, doesn’t matter if you treat them as trivial.”

Luo Su shook his head, sitting on the steps next to the runway, without caring about his custom-made suit pants, rolling up his sleeves to smoke a cigar, lazily basking in the sun.

Just like a bear, crawling out of a tree hole after winter, brushing away the snow.

Thin and bony, sighing at the spring scene before him.

”Actually, I’ve been thinking.” He said, ”What exactly should I teach you.”

”Hmm? Haven’t you taught me a lot? Negotiation and decision-making?”

”Those aren’t the key points, at most, are tricks to pass the time, not truly important things.”

Luo Su shook his head: ”As your teacher, as a former Preparatory Recorder, Huai Shi, I should teach you something.

Teach you something really useful, valuable, yet I don’t know how to do it properly.”

Luo Su spread his hands, shook his head self-deprecatingly: ”What I’ve learned all my life, what I’ve prepared all my life, not even had the opportunity to show off, nor have I verified myself, can it be taught to others?

I have a belly full of strategies and schemes, ambitions and fantasies, but you wouldn’t be interested. I can teach you how to be a good principal, manage budgets and costs, expand operations and influence people... but you probably won’t be satisfied.

Thinking over and over, all I can do is take you out for a turn, show you the world, introduce you to old friends one by one, hoping your future path will be smoother.

I thought I would be very firm, without hesitation. But as I walked and compared other people’s achievements, I began to feel ashamed, worried, fearing difficult problems unsolved, making me lose face as a teacher in front of students.”

Huai Shi shook his head: ”Doesn’t everyone respect you? Even the Roman Emperor treats you with courtesy.”

”No, that’s not respect, that’s courtesy, Huai Shi.”

Luo Su smoked, calmly answered: ”Respect is given to those who are noble, so they leave it for the once Utopia, but not courtesy—they are polite in this way because they don’t care.

It’s only natural not to care, it’s rational because this is the current state of Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy.

A declining organization, a fractured Genealogy, mediocre in every sense... After many years, when pain and achievements gradually wither, all one can do is clean up the mess in such a sorry state.”

”Blood for blood!!!”

A hoarse roar suddenly erupted, the elderly man who was holding a coffee cup on the wheelchair suddenly widened his eyes, crushed the coffee cup in his hand, and the scalding liquid flowed down his fingers onto his blanket, staining it with a mark that resembled rising flames.

In the midst of unexpected fury, the dazed old man roared and howled at the air: ”The traitor shall die bleeding!”

”...” Huai Shi was stunned.

Yet Luo Su laughed softly.

He stepped forward, pried open Marcus’s fingers, extracted the coffee fragments, wiped the stains away, and replaced the blanket for him, covering him anew.

”Look, after saying too many dispirited words, even a senile old man can’t take it anymore.” He patted his old friend’s shoulder: ”Don’t worry, Marcus, we’re still alive, there’s plenty of time ahead—Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

Gradually, on the wheelchair, the struggling old man finally calmed down, and returned to a lifeless state.

”Where were we just now?” Luo Su asked.

Huai Shi thought for a moment, ”Cleaning up the mess?”

”Yes, cleaning up the mess.”

Luo Su took out a handkerchief, wiping his fingers, calmly telling him: ”That’s what we need to do now, and it’s the urgent matter going forward.

So, I must remind you of the risk involved.”

He said: ”Now, you are already a symbol of the Heavenly Kingdom, and after meeting so many people with me, you’ll only become more prominent. Many people don’t want us to continue existing, but I run fast when in trouble, they cannot handle me, so they might target you next.

You represent not only yourself but also the future of Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy.”

Both Huai Shi’s existence and the existence of the Book of Fate are indispensable for Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy!

In fact, even more important than anyone could imagine...

”Isn’t it all your fault?”

Huai Shi glanced sideways, ”Where’s the logic in pushing someone into the limelight and then advising them to be cautious?”

”Regret it?”

”No, I don’t intend to jump off the ship either.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Huai Shi thought for a moment, smiled wryly: ”Just, the pressure is a bit much. Doesn’t that mean I have to be careful about my image even while eating and sleeping, to guard against being secretly photographed?”

”No, quite the opposite.”

Luo Su shook his head, telling him: ”You need to live more genuinely, Huai Shi.

If you feel like crying, then cry; if you feel like laughing, then laugh; throw the so-called idol burden behind you—if you’re angry, unleash your thunderous fury; if you’re compassionate, show great mercy.

The words of others should be passed over as mere wind in your ears, there’s not even a need to superficially accept them. If you decide that something is necessary, then go ahead and do it, ignoring all obstruction.”

”...”

Long silence, Huai Shi found it hard to understand: ”If I act like that, won’t it inevitably lead to ruin?”

”Listen carefully, Huai Shi, there are two types of leaders.”

Luo Su raised two fingers: ”One kind leads the confused to unite and advance, the other serves as everyone’s representative and embodiment.

The former requires authority and strategy, shrewdness and ambition, even necessary tricks and deception, but the latter is simple and more challenging, it only requires everyone’s complete trust and belief—you’re naturally the latter type.

You need to stand at the highest point, like the sun, attracting all those who aspire to you.

Perhaps you may doubt your own future, but I can responsibly tell you—it’s not ’destiny’ that chose you, it’s you who chose ’destiny’.

Luo Su pressed his shoulder and earnestly told him: ”Huai Shi, this is the only thing I can do for you as a teacher.

If Utopia must have a Savior, then why must it be you?”

He said, ”You need only be yourself, because your ’fate’ belongs to you.”

Huai Shi was stunned in place.

For the first time hearing such solemn words from this old fellow Luo Su, he actually felt a bit surreal, yet for some reason, he felt much more relieved.

As if suddenly released from the colossal shadow of the future.

Like a load lifted off his shoulders.

”Hearing you say this, I suddenly want to chuck it all.” Huai Shi sighed lightly, ”How nice would it be to go home and be a salty fish?”

”That’s fine too. These days, heroes are competing for the position.” Luo Su dismissively glanced at him: ”Missing one person, does it mean the world won’t be saved?”

”Yeah right, as if I don’t know you?”

Huai Shi lowered his head, laughed, extending his hand: ”After saying so much, where do I fit in? After all this motivation, where’s the 007 mission target?”

”I like students like you, who can always grasp the meaning of their teacher.”

Luo Su smiled: ”This time, the work is simple, Huai Shi.”

When saying this, his smile makes one feel a chill all over.

Hidden with grimness.

”—After ending your own journey, you have to go end someone else’s journey.”

Someone whose life is filled with pain.

He needs a little help.

When tired of his impoverished life, he needs a kind-hearted person to help him be free of it all.

Forever.
