Chapter 1227: Chapter 937: Reunion

In the scorching summer wind, Huai Shi couldn’t help but take off his leather hat and start fanning himself.

Surprised.

In the blink of an eye, he had traveled from the Central Siberian Plateau to the other end of the Russian Federation?

Isn’t that amazing?

Huai Shi was momentarily stunned, then looked at the church ahead and finally reacted: ”So, where am I now?”

”Yekaterinburg,” the priest replied honestly, ”You are at the Church of Blood Drop belonging to the Russian Federation Genealogy.”

Huai Shi was instantly taken aback again.

All of the important offices and branches of the Russian Federation Genealogy are distributed in the form of churches nationwide or overseas, especially in industrial hubs like the Ural Region. The Church of Blood Drop, which leads in importance in the capital region, is a prime example.

How come I was suddenly thrown to the doorsteps of the police station?

Did I get in trouble again?

That scoundrel Luo Su’s smuggling is one thing, but he implicated me!

He instinctively wanted to lash out, but before introducing himself he realized, wait, as an Action Officer and special-grade Military Officer of the Astronomical Society, he actually has the right to pass in Current Circumstances.

As long as he’s in Current Circumstances, borders practically don’t matter to him—at most, he just needs to send a text to the local branch to inform them.

Afraid of customs offices for what!

He coughed awkwardly twice and asked, ”Uh, where’s the old fellow who came with me?”

”The Bishop and Mr. Luo Su have urgent matters to discuss,” the priest responded courteously, ”Please wait a moment, I will entertain you in the meantime, how does that sound?”

Bishop...

Huai Shi’s eye twitched slightly.

Well, this is it, directly blocked by the high-ups of the Russian Federation Genealogy—old turtle Luo Su welcomes his sinking ship.

However, since the opponents did not slam the cups as a signal nor did three hundred Templar Knights jump out sharpening knives, it meant he was still safe. As for Luo Su... worrying about him is rather like worrying about whether you left the faucet running as you left the house!

Once he understood the current situation, he instantly became calm.

He turned his gaze to the black-clad middle-aged priest with a goatee in front of him, realizing that the seemingly ordinary priest was actually wearing a sword-shaped Holy Badge.

Indeed, a Templar Knight!

”Excuse my ignorance, may I know what to call you?” Huai Shi extended a hand.

”Aleksey Antonov, just call me Aleksey.”

The priest shook hands and replied, leading the way in front: ”Please follow me.”

Thus, he led Huai Shi through the church doors, across the hall, turned right, and headed towards the back room—along the way, Huai Shi saw many praying believers and excited tourists taking photos.

Unimaginable that such a place is a major hub and branch office for a Genealogy.

”Is it always this crowded here?” Huai Shi asked.

”After all, it’s a famous tourist spot; during holidays there are more visitors, but they are all believers, so it’s not proper to turn them away. Also, it’s a necessary way to expand influence and recruit new blood.”

Aleksey calmly explained, opening the elevator door for Huai Shi.

When opened again, he saw a lobby like an office building with busy staff and individual cubicles, giving off quite a company vibe.

Only here, on every person, there was more or less a display of the Rosary Beads and Holy Badge symbol, though the walls did not have posters, nor could much religious display be seen—the atmosphere remained strong.

Noticing Huai Shi’s appearance with his furry coat like a bear touring the streets, many were unfazed, and quite a few greeted Aleksey, who had visible high-standing and heavy authority.

”Orthodox, huh.” Huai Shi sighed involuntarily: ”It’s my first encounter.”

”It’s just faith; there’s nothing special before the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy.”

Aleksey calmly answered, guiding him to step through the door. Inside the lounge, there was already a set of brand-new clothes waiting—from inside to outside including shoes.

”There’s not much time, we only managed to find these clothes from the warehouse. If any sizes are off, please let me know—I’ll come back later, the WIFI password is on the wall, please feel free with the tea and snacks on the table.”

After considerately leaving Huai Shi his private space, Aleksey closed the door for him.

Leaving Huai Shi to look around the room.

Clearly, this was a guest room dedicated to entertaining guests, simply decorated, reflecting the Russian Federation’s usual simplicity, kept clean and spotless.

After changing clothes, Huai Shi crammed the messy items into his bag, then sat on the sofa, casually pulling a holy book from the shelf next to it to browse.

It hasn’t changed a bit in four hundred years.

After masquerading as Van Essen for so long, Huai Shi was intimately familiar. To be honest, staying in this room felt quite familiar. Four hundred years and even the guest room’s furnishings hadn’t changed, except for the addition of WIFI.

After all, it’s the legitimate inheritance of the Stigma Genealogy...

Hundreds of years ago, when the Ranch Owner was born and the gods fell, the Stigma Genealogy broke apart.

During that chaotic and eventful period, the Guide Association—the Astronomical Society’s predecessor—joined major Genealogies to re-establish the foundation of Current Circumstances, thus yielding the Astronomical Society’s prototype.

The Stigma Genealogy welcomed a complete schism.

Rome inherited the legacy, choosing to learn from the past, integrated the Rome Genealogy, Greek Lineage, and other pivotal components, creating today’s ’Hall of Ten Thousand Gods’ system led by the Palace of the Pope, blocking the Ranch Owner’s peeping and interference.

Another faction refused to dismantle the ’God of Nothingness,’ guarding the Stigma Genealogy’s Sacred Relics and legacy, resisting the Abyss’s encroachment; gradually losing their minds or becoming fanatics for the Ranch Owner.

Finally, numerous headless church leaders assembled in Constantinople for the historical fourth council meeting, determining the canonical Eastward Policy.

Under the escort of Temple Knights, priests carried the last legacy of the Stigma Genealogy and the relic bones of saints, beginning an endless eastward advance.

Finally, they rooted themselves on this land.

Now, becoming the true body of the Russian Federation Genealogy.

The Russian Federation Genealogy, which inherited the essence of the Stigma Genealogy and the vast majority of Sacred Relics, is indeed profound in foundation, especially in terms of armament, taking the lead among all the genealogies.

According to statistics, there are more than one hundred thousand stationed Sublimators’ Knight Groups, plus the blessed armored Clerical Army, not to mention other reserve forces and the reservists in the various temples spread across the country.

Without such a large scale, they wouldn’t be able to support the crusade against Ranch Owners in Hell that happens every twenty years.

In some ways, the birth of the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy was also influenced by the Russian Federation.

After all, these guys have proven through action that as long as there is enough Correction Value, even the position of nothingness can turn into a divine throne. Through regulating and standardizing such a Source as the Holy book, they have truly created the Holy Spirit, which is truly breathtaking.

”Sorry to keep you waiting.”

When Aleksey returned, he brought with him a full set of documents for Huai Shi, including a customs-approved passport and driver’s license: ”From now on, you can move freely in Yekaterinburg. If you don’t like being alone, we’ve also arranged a driver and assistant for you.”

”Uh, that’s not necessary.”

Huai Shi waved his hand: ”I’ll just stay here.”

Although he wasn’t keen on dealing with Luo Su’s trivial matters, unfortunately, that Old Turtle was both his direct superior and teacher. After his disappearance, Huai Shi didn’t feel like wandering around.

It’s better to just lie in the room and rest properly, and wait for some news.

Anyway, even if Luo Su’s negotiation breaks down, it wouldn’t harm him in the slightest.

Aleksey thought for a moment, then nodded: ”Since that’s the case, since you’re here, why not let me be your guide and take you to see the Church of Blood Drop?”

”Ah this...” Huai Shi was taken aback: ”Is that appropriate?”

”You are the bishop’s guest, there’s no problem.”

Aleksey smiled slightly and opened the door for him.

.

.

Meanwhile, Luo Su heard the door closing behind him.

As the spreading cold wind disappeared into the void, the old man with snowflakes and frost on his face was thrown onto a chair.

In the solemn and cold church, the door was tightly shut.

Under the weak sunlight shining through the stained glass windows, he saw the back of the figure standing on the altar.

So familiar.

After a moment of silence, he awkwardly coughed: ”Long time no see, Kaja.”

”Call me Archbishop Yekaterina—Luo Su, are we that close?”

When the female Cultivator turned around, her expression showed a hint of indifference and estrangement.

She did not seem old, around her thirties, with fiery red long hair, in her prime, making one instinctively feel close. But at this moment, it also made people feel uneasy.

Because those gray eyes were full of stern coldness and scrutiny.

Just like a strict mother wielding a teaching whip when facing a child who had made a mistake.

Luo Su subconsciously leaned back slightly, forcing a smile: ”Don’t say that, Kaja, it’s been so many years since we last met, how have you been?”

”As long as you are not there, I’m doing fine.”

Archbishop Yekaterina said coldly, ”It seems you are doing quite well too.”

”How could I be doing well? All alone in the Ivory Tower, students are disobedient, subordinates are not understanding, and they often misunderstand me.”

Luo Su sighed helplessly: ”Only occasionally getting drunk can make me find some joy, sometimes reading books, I would think of you, those books you left behind, I’ve kept them well.”

”Is it too late to start catering to my tastes now?”

Yekaterina snickered: ”Everyone knows you are only interested in yellow books.”

”People change, Kaja.”

Luo Su firmly retorted: ”I can change too, why don’t you want to believe me?”

Before Yekaterina could speak, this old man slowly stood up, his cloudy eyes gazing at the long-missed lover, softly sighing.

”’There is no misfortune that can compare to lost time’, isn’t that so?”

He said, ”Kaja, we’ve missed too much...”

”Enough, Luo Su.”

Yekaterina responded indifferently: ”No matter how much you feed a wolf, its heart is always set on the forest—believing you of all people could have feelings was my biggest mistake!”

”I’ve made mistakes too, haven’t I? Letting you go towards conversion was my life’s biggest regret, but none of it can be undone.”

Luo Su sighed softly, and after a brief silence, he suddenly recited in a low voice: ”It is said that Raffaletsky once went to the remote monastery where Lisa was living in seclusion and he saw her.

When she moved from one choir seat to another, she walked past him, stepping with that even, brisk, and reverent pace of a nun, and did not cast a glance his way; only the eyelashes of the eye on his side seemed to flutter slightly... What did they think of, what did they feel? Who knows? Who can tell?”

With that, recalling the words from an acclaimed piece, Luo Su slowly moved forward, gently grasping her hands, and said in a low voice: ”Kaja, there are such fleeting moments in life, and some feelings...”

Bam!

A dull thud erupted, Luo Su’s emotional recitation came to an abrupt halt, his eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth agape. Slowly, he knelt on the ground.

And Yekaterina withdrew her hand, straightening the creases in her nun’s habit skirt.

The slender calf that had just delivered a harsh blow below Luo Su’s waist disappeared back into the darkness, as if it had never moved at all.

”The view from this angle is much more pleasing, I wonder why I never noticed before?”

Yekaterina looked down, overlooking the embarrassed old fellow at her feet, sneering: ”The uninteresting book-sharing session ends here, Luo Su.”

She said, ”It’s time to talk about the old grievances between us—”
