Chapter 1192: Chapter 910: Greenhouse

Current Circumstances time: November 27, 2112, at 16:06 PM.

Location: Jurisdiction Bureau Sky Floor’s secret border—Tundra Warren.

Border Management Bureau Sub-bureau β01.

In the eternal storm, pale snowflakes blow toward us. In the distance, only large buildings faintly emerge, the black structures forming a grand outline, creating a warm spring-like Paradise amidst the perpetual cold and harsh.

Outside of Paradise, there’s only terrifying polar low temperatures, and endless winds and snowfall.

”B4 is in position.”

”A1 has encountered a problem, solvable, five minutes.”

”B6 is in position.”

At this moment, in the White Snow Plains outside the management bureau subdivision, a dot dances around, expertly avoiding all cameras and detection devices.

Under the white cloak’s blockade of heat, they crawl on the snow, hidden in the unnoticed darkness.

Following distant commands, they slowly approach the central building.

In the tent temporarily set up under a snow cave in the far rear, the commander breathes onto his fingers, lifts a freshly boiled kettle, and pours into a cup.

”Conditions are limited, hope Secretary Ai doesn’t mind.”

”At least staying in the tent, not lying on the snow, having warm water is enough.” Ai Qing holds the teacup, white steam rises from her mouth and nose: ”Not camping, nothing to be picky about.”

She is wrapped entirely in thick cold-resistant clothing, exposed face and fingers are white from frostbite, only her lips retain a hint of color.

The Original Dark Legion commander sighed, looking at the enlarging building on the surveillance screen, couldn’t help but curse: ”They can still blow air conditioning, truly envious.”

”It’s normal.” Ai Qing sips the quickly cooling hot water, ”Blockade Management Bureau’s treatment is always the best among equal units.”

”I’m well aware.”

Mentioning this, the commander instantly becomes spirited: ”Originally I planned, after retiring, to work at the Blockade Management Bureau for two years, nothing to do all day, away from gunfire, make tea at work, play some solitaire, one game lasting all day... but in the end, stayed for a while, couldn’t stand it, found an opportunity and came back.”

Ai Qing looks up at the old man in front of the screen, ”Is it unwilling to be lonely?”

The commander smiles wryly, shakes his head: ”No, not to that extent, but... too lonely is all.”

He sighs, takes out a cigarette box seeking Ai Qing’s consent.

Seeing Ai Qing wave, not minding, he shivers taking one out, leaning to the oil stove, takes a deep drag before catching a breath, sighs.

”I wanted a peaceful life, but there’s nothing there besides peace. Just like a prison, some enter in their twenties, die in their nineties, never leaving.”

The commander expresses helpless lament: ”If no problems arise their life remains unknown, if problems arise their life becomes meaningless... just like Hell.”

As a subordinate institution of the Sky Floor and a confidentiality unit tied to the Original Dark Legion, Blockade Management Bureau’s duty is to manage or handle significant hidden threats, reducing Existence Institute’s containment pressure.

Thus, from the first day you start working, you already disappear from Current Circumstances.

No retirement or resignation, even if work tenure ends, one merely shifts to other confidentiality units, and has only a tombstone after death, some not allowed to have names on it.

Even though the compensation is ample, internal marriage allowed, significant family subsidies still receive sparse response.

”Better treatment is deserved.”

The commander, holding a nearly extinguished cigarette, slowly says: ”Treatment any worse would make it unviable.”

He said, but his mood was hardly good.

Rather, it was bad.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t chat relatively much with others during a brief lull before mission start.

After all, when the Original Dark Legion needs deployment, it signifies... Blockade Management Bureau’s internal situation has intensified to an extreme, facing cleansing.

”Sorry, I talked too much.” He shrugged and smiled, ”Not professional.”

”It’s unrelated to professionalism.”

Ai Qing neither comforted nor expressed more—such sympathy and compassion are laughably ludicrous for the Original Dark Legion kill machines.

She merely calmly shifted topics: ”What’s locked in β01?”

”A ’lie’.”

The commander began briefing the Decision Room representative: ”Previously, it was discovered by Stone Pot Society and reported to the Astronomical Society’s dangerous item, a destructible element - Piper’s work.

Looks like a note torn from a notepad, but reading its content and attempting to investigate are both forbidden actions.”

”Which link went wrong?” Ai Qing asked.

”Possibly the innermost storage facility—originally when transferring to Blockade Management Bureau, it was Grandmaster Garland personally who cast Mystic Ritual blockade on it.

After speculation, possibly Grandmaster’s passing caused Mystic Ritual blockage instability, leading mid and outer layer facilities to also have leaks.”

The commander sighed: ”When Sky Floor received news and began scrutiny, β01 never had any response anymore.”
