Chapter 915: Chapter 729: Sleepless Nights (2)

What the hell!

It’s the first time he’s encountered such a phenomenon!

The alteration rights of the Book of Fate, theoretically speaking, should only belong to oneself—in other words, only to Tong Ji, who exists as an ’Event Branch’.

Without this pen, no tool should be able to modify the Book of Fate!

And yet, his fate and records silently changed...

Could there be something else in this world, besides himself, that can influence the Source of Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy?

”Don’t overthink it; there’s nothing wrong with the Book of Fate. The only problem is you...”

Tong Ji explained: ”The records of the Book of Fate are indeed immutable, and they possess the highest priority. However, its power is actually limited by the baseline of its own observation, which is you.

Everything is recorded from your perspective. What it witnesses is everything you’ve experienced. If you can become a Natural Enemy in the future, maybe other people’s views related to you will be added in... Similarly, if what you’ve experienced changes, then naturally the content will also differ.”

”What do you mean?” Huai Shi didn’t understand.

”It’s very simple,” Tong Ji said. ”It’s just that time has been altered.”

”Hmm?” Huai Shi felt like he was hearing things.

Tong Ji calmly said: ”Someone used the power of the Rainbow Bridge to perform a time jump, revising the event—although a very small part—but it also caused the distortion degree of Current Circumstances to rise.

Hmm, it seems the other party is quite restrained. To minimize the impact, not too many people were involved—probably only about two thousand square kilometers of green land eternally turned to desert, right? Ah, now it should be two thousand nine.”

What the heck!

Huai Shi was dumbfounded, feeling that everything was increasingly bizarre.

”What in the world is this?!”

”Let me think, to explain it in a way you can understand, it is... ’Load’?”

Tong Ji thought for a moment, then seriously said: ”Not satisfied with the original plot development, illegally performing a jump to amend details, attempting to achieve a different result. Unfortunately, an individual’s power is ultimately limited; no matter how much you pay, it’s mostly in vain...”

”Wait!”

Huai Shi finally reacted, instinctively sat up from the bed, lifted his head, and leaned closer to Tong Ji’s face in disbelief: ”You said the Rainbow Bridge can reverse time, is it true?”

”Of course,”

Tong Ji puzzledly replied: ”After all, it is one of the three major locks; a huge achievement of pride for the Astronomical Society—if it were just a WiFi-enabled portal, that would be too useless.

Although the conditions for use are stringent... but if utilized appropriately, it can even send the entire Current Circumstances back one year.”

”...That’s quite exaggerated?”

”Only in terms of claims, although calculations show it could be realized, the cost and burnout of Source Substance required to interfere on that scale, even the entire Current Circumstances could not afford it—the chances are it would collapse before the transmission is completed.

At that point, what difference is there between returning a heap of ashes to a year ago and destruction?

Therefore, the Utopia bunch of lunatics, the things they research are either useless or spectacular, each one more wasteful than the last. But, because of the cost, while not able to apply on a large scale, if you cut down a little and lower expectations, there might occasionally be unexpected surprises.”

Thus achieved, is the miracle of ’time jump’.

With the eternal vitality of green lands and forests as the price, the entire area becomes a desert, extracting Source Substance and future heat, sending a person’s consciousness and Soul back entirely to their own body twenty-four days ago.

Hence, ’Doomsday Guard’ confidential personnel are born.

With the rise and fall of the feathered pen on the Book of Fate, it paused slightly, tapped on the page, and the large text suddenly thinned, balancing between existence and non-existence.

With God’s Wedge in hand, Tong Ji could temporarily circumvent the Silent Ones Stone Stele and Memetic Lock among other secrecy measures of the Astronomical Society, but still couldn’t continue writing in detail, only letting Huai Shi have an approximate understanding.

For a while, Huai Shi was enlightened: ”So the Astronomical Society read the file to save the Tanbo Inner Circle?”

”What are you thinking?”

Tong Ji glanced at him, her expression turned quirky: ”This doesn’t have any cost-benefit ratio at all. Do you know how precious a Soul that can naturally resonate with the Rainbow Bridge and withstand time reversal is?

Every discovery of such precious consumables is the treasure of the Astronomical Society, ten times more valuable than the entire Tanbo Inner Circle, how could it be wasted here?”

”Then...”

”Of course, it was disobedience, acting on their own accord.”

Tong Ji shrugged with pity, seemingly implying: ”Probably some retired guard bypassed the Astronomical Society, directly forcibly resonating and triggered the jump mechanism? Although not knowing what kind of price was paid, it certainly was not pleasant.”

”Wait, the one you’re talking about couldn’t be that bastard Liu DongLi, could it?”

Huai Shi suddenly realized, numb all over: ”I just knew how he figured out I’m undercover. So this Wang Ba dares to cheat besides cross-dressing!

It’s outrageous, tomorrow I’ll drag him to the Astronomical Society!”

After being angry for a long time, Huai Shi remembered: ”No, but... what’s he after anyway?”
