Chapter 871: Chapter 698: Isn’t That Pretty Good?

As Huai Shi wiped away the tears in the wind and rain, he realized that at least he still had dreams, and his mood stabilized a bit.

Tong Ji leisurely continued, ”Actually, I think... this matter should be considered?”

”What matter?”

”Of course, the thing Matsumoto mentioned,” Tong Ji said, ”Though it might be a pit, isn’t it also quite good?”

”Where is it good!”

”It’s good because it doesn’t interfere with public and private interests!”

Tong Ji flapped her wings, reminding him, ”Did you forget the most important prerequisite for the Great Priestess’s transformation ritual? This is a golden opportunity sent to you. If you don’t seize it, you’ll have to go to the border or wait until the end of the year...”

Huai Shi was taken aback but then realized.

Tong Ji’s specially designed mystic ritual.

Within the Third Stage, the transformation from Soloist to Great Priestess.

What is necessary is the expansion of divine nature.

A container capable of replacing Huai Shi, bearing and enduring Hell’s erosion, which is the Miracle Imprint known as Huaizhi Sushi.

And... a massive amount of death!

The Great Priestess, who governs death, can only emerge from a large amount of death...

From Yin Soul to Soloist, from death to life, and then from Soloist to Great Priestess, from life back to death. It forms a Mobius strip-like recursive cycle of beginning and end crossing alternately.

A large number of deaths, a large number of consciousnesses dissipating—in short, the ’death’ event begins to occur frequently and massively in a short period.

Moreover, it’s best if Huai Shi is involved.

The most convenient, without a doubt, is to start an... inferno of death!

Huai Shi stiffened in place, incredulous, ”You want me to kill those innocent Beastified Characteristic Beings?”

”That’s heartless, damn it! Huai Shi, what’s going on in your head?”

Tong Ji stared back, equally incredulous, ”You fool, people shouldn’t... at least shouldn’t...”

”Isn’t this all started by you?”

Huai Shi raised his guard, ”What are you thinking?”

Tong Ji sighed helplessly, raised her small wings, encircled Huai Shi’s neck, and leaned in to ask, ”Think carefully... Of all the world, besides our best friend the Ranch Owner, which charity organization is as generous as Green Day? Where else is killing as convenient as Green Day?”

Nope, right?

You are the Green Day Nemesis, Huai Shi, the official enforcer for the Jurisdiction Bureau, the future Two Flowers and Red Sticks of Asia Region, is it not time to utilize your traditional talents?”

Huai Shi paused for a long time, feeling that she seemed to have a point.

Anyway, he didn’t have a good impression of those who incite riots; speaking of which, like those bastards akin to God City’s Future who push their entire race to the brink for revenge, killing them posed no burden.

Yet, what made him suspicious was something else...

”Is this all there is?”

”What else?” Tong Ji rolled her eyes, ”You used to even hesitate to send hair growth fluid to that bald guy. This is a life and death grudge! Why do you seem cowardly to handle underlings now?”

Huai Shi pondered, suddenly feeling something ominous, ”I feel this matter won’t be so simple.”

Then, not long after, it really proved not so simple...

.

.

To be precise, Huai Shi sensed something was amiss the next morning.

He arrived early at the address Ai Qing provided, in a high-end apartment. After taking the dedicated elevator upstairs, he discovered that the entire floor had been transformed into a temporary command center.

Right in the bustling Kyoto Commercial District, no one noticed the Jurisdiction Bureau had quietly hammered a nail in place.

As Huai Shi entered, he was pushed into a fitting room, stripped of all clothes, leaving only his underwear, and several elderly figures surrounded him, examining for laps. They exchanged some professional jargon in low voices before each returning to their posts.

Then it was like a dead pig arriving at a canning factory’s line: plucked, watered, cut up, marinated, finally fried, and packed—Huai Shi was put through the mill, being inspected in various machines, blood tests, CT scans, ultrasounds, and MRI scans... After the whole set, all the doctors started questioning how he’s even alive.

”According to the analyses of other doctors, seventy percent of his bones have fractured before, some even three times or more. Suffered over a dozen instances of massive deep erosion, and it’s visible there are marks of being cursed, shockingly numerous. More importantly... preferably lock up this nuclear bomb before hybrids turn into biochemical weapons.”

The physician in charge of the medical exam stood next to the printer, pulling out new sheets continuously, stacking them before Ai Qing.

The heap of records was nearly eight or nine centimeters high, still growing.

They were lists of viruses and toxins inside Huai Shi.

It was like a festival in Hell, with some grotesque demon on stage performing ”Menu List.”

If not for the Astronomical Society’s agents, merely walking a few steps in Current Circumstances would trigger local department alarms!

Sending such a treasure to resolve biochemical crisis, likely throwing incendiary bombs at a fire scene—if I burn them first, they can’t catch fire.

So, he genuinely doubted—is this guy really reliable?

”No need to worry, just continue. Huai Shi’s safety is guaranteed by the Decision Room and the Ivory Tower. You can truthfully report, and I’ll just sign it.”

Ai Qing casually glanced at the printer spewing the endless virus list, waved at Huai Shi, and pointed to the chair-shaped operating table beside her.

Gesturing for him to lie down.

Huai Shi felt like there were a hundred thousand little kids in his mind, all with many questions, but he didn’t know which one to ask first.

Lying on the operating table, he turned his head and saw the opened organ preservation box, along with the two bone horns as long as pinky finger joints inside.

”What is this?”

”Disguise props, internally it’s equipped with bone conduction communication functions, GPS, and a bunch of other things. Next, they’ll be attached to your skull through surgery, rest assured, it won’t ruin your looks.”

Before Huai Shi could ask why they’re attaching this thing, he noticed another person standing next to the surgical doctor, eyes wide in disbelief: ”And who the hell is that?”

”Tony,” Ai Qing turned to look at the man wearing a horse-faced mask, ”isn’t he your old acquaintance? You’ve met before, right?”

From the side, Tony enthusiastically waved at Huai Shi.

”Then why is he holding a pair of scissors?”

”Because he’s going to cut your hair, redesign your new image.”

As the clicking sound of scissors opened and closed, Ai Qing handed over a stack of documents: ”The process will take about three hours, hold onto this, you can skim through it in the middle.”

”What’s this again?”

Huai Shi felt like he was utterly lost, wanting to drool and mutter nonsense...

”In the coming period, you’ll need to memorize your identity information until you can recall it even in your sleep,” Ai Qing said, ”As an Action Officer of the Astronomical Society and a Registered Militia, we need you to find a chance to infiltrate Green Day’s internal operations, searching for clues...”

”Wait a minute!”

Huai Shi finally reacted: ”Isn’t that being a Second fifth?”

”If possible, I hope you use the term ’undercover.’”

”What’s the difference then?”

”Of course, ’Second fifth’ or ’traitor’ is usually used to describe a rebel within a group, but you haven’t even joined the group yet and you’re rebelling. See, that doesn’t even qualify as a Second fifth, does it?”

”Are you... serious?”

”No, just kidding to ease your tension,” Ai Qing lowered her head, with her eternally calm face gazing down, softly asking, ”Feeling a lot more relaxed now?”

”Yes! I feel incredibly relieved!”

Huai Shi nodded frantically, afraid of any mishap befalling him.

Then Tony grabbed his head again, designing his hairstyle.

”This type of client is really tricky. It seems like all styles suit them,” Tony held the large scissors, looking up to ask, ”What kind of vibe do you want?”

”My stomach’s been unwell lately; it’d be best if I can’t recognize myself. Regarding the image, undercover work doesn’t need to worry about appearance. Make it earthy, not too attention-grabbing.”

Never mind why your bad stomach involves cutting my hair, but why does that big scissors always aim at my face wanting to swipe?

Huai Shi’s face turned green with fright.

In a more fantastical world, having a Frost Giant Stylist cut the Soloist’s hair, no one on the internet would even dare to write such a thing.

Ai Qing evidently had everything lined up, just waiting for him to take the bait and swiftly start the process... eager for him to infiltrate Green Day tonight.

”Is there really such urgency?”

Huai Shi asked, ”Isn’t it a bit too fast?”

”Yes, it needs to be fast; time waits for no one... can you imagine how much time Matsumoto intentionally wasted by misleading us?”

Ai Qing admired Huai Shi’s haircut from the side, lighting a cigarette: ”It’s already too late now, no time for us to investigate leisurely using conventional methods. We have to strike an unexpected blow...”

Huai Shi sighed deeply, ”I’m the pawn, right?”

He actually wanted to comment on her being difficult to date this way, but he dared not... Death Perception was wildly warning him not to seek death.

Sensing Huai Shi’s plaintive gaze, Ai Qing rarely offered an explanation: ”Rest assured, it’s not just you... even within the Jurisdiction Bureau, our position is just an independent investigation team.

Many people don’t want this turmoil to happen; besides you, there are many others active in Kyoto area, hoping to prevent this disaster.”

She paused briefly, slightly shrugged: ”It’s just that, not everyone might get along.”

Huai Shi understood the implication.

Everyone’s a competitor; even in the same company, different departments have performance competitions. Legal doesn’t seem to be people, Business doesn’t work, HR and Finance riding on one’s neck, crapping away, and operations have to keep running?

Just hoping no unpleasant incidents with others occur at that time.

Huai Shi sighed, studied the materials in his hand, and began entering the role.

Two hours later, he lifted his head, staring at the radically transformed reflection in the mirror.
