Chapter 523: Chapter 451: Traveler_2

”...”

Huai Shi’s expression twitched; he couldn’t comprehend Luo Xian’s method for finding water.

But the more he recalled her casually strolling through storms and torrents, the more incredible it seemed.

”How... did you do that?”

”Hm?”

Luo Xian, puzzled, tilted her head to look at him. ”It’s just a storm, right? If you’re sneaky, you can avoid it, can’t you?”

”I see, now I get it.”

Huai Shi had an epiphany. ”So it’s about being sneaky when the wind’s not looking. Is your technique for walking on water about catching the water when it’s not paying attention either?”

”What nonsense are you talking about, Huai Shi?” Luo Xian said seriously. ”If it were like that, wouldn’t I just fall in? Without resistance, the fall would be very painful.”

”...”

I feel like we’ve never been on the same page from the beginning, Big Sister.

Did we really come from the same training class?

Why are you so much more impressive than me?

”Then what’s the reason?” Huai Shi’s expression contorted again. ”Chakra?”

”Are you talking about the Chakra method from India? Ah, now that you mention it, it could indeed be done with some effort, but isn’t that too exhausting?”

Luo Xian shook her head. ”Actually, it’s just an application of the Yu Step I figured out myself. If you learn how to sink into the ground, it’s really easy to master. I’ll teach you later.”

”Let’s not bother.”

Huai Shi couldn’t help but cough awkwardly, feeling the gap in talent.

Forget about ’sinking into the ground’; he was still completely stuck on Heaven Collapse. He could only use his skills to play a bit part as a substandard Ancient Martial Mecha. If he were to try it with his physical body, he’d probably self-destruct on the spot.

Having graduated from Orchard Gym so long ago, he was still at the drummer’s most basic level. Even with deliberate effort, he could only ensure a successful rate for the Great Third Chord.

He’d be laughing up his sleeve if he could just get ’Thunderbolt’ working properly.

He dared not aim too high.

He slumped back on the ground, sucking water from the tank through an iron straw. Suddenly, he realized something was off when he remembered how Luo Xian had addressed him.

”Wait a minute... what’s this about ’Judge’?”

”You don’t know yet?”

Luo Xian looked at him blankly. Seeing Huai Shi’s befuddled expression, she couldn’t help but shake her head and pull a card, still in its plastic wrapper, from her wallet.

”You’ve got a new card out.”

”What in the world?”

Huai Shi, wide-eyed, craned his neck closer, his expression instantly contorting.

Was that a brand new Universal Card?

A limited edition card pack from the ’Group Star Struggle’ Chronicles series.

[Judge·Huai Shi]

Number NO6 among the sixteen character cards.

A bronze card back, and a silver border signifying outstanding contribution. The card face featured a silhouette excerpted from the Group Star’s surveillance footage.

——A Military Officer of the Astronomical Society stood before the Guillotine. His face was shrouded in darkness, unreachable by the firelight, yet his pupils seemed ablaze. Spreading his arms and bowing his head, he announced that judgment had come for one of the culprits.

Effect·Executioner: When this card enters play, all cards marked with the Astronomical Society’s ’Black Envelope’ lose one point of life and are bestowed a temporary debuff of minus one defense.

Right at the bottom, there was a brief description in bold type.

[Judgment, your judgment has come; your judge stands before you—now, your judge watches over you.]

Huai Shi stared blankly for a long moment after reading it. Unbelievable.

”I’ve entered the card pool again?”

”Yeah. Because you’re not the main character, they only released 4,000 copies, and they sold like crazy.” Luo Xian put the card back in her wallet. ”I had a hard time getting this, you know. How about it? Aren’t you touched that your Big Sister supports you like this?”

Huai Shi didn’t know whether he felt touched or not.

All he knew was that he didn’t dare move a muscle in front of Luo Xian, just like a silly roe deer cornered by lions and tigers.

Especially when the firelight illuminated her moist lips, it always felt... as though she still hadn’t had her fill, still ravenous.

His Death Perception would faintly stir then rapidly dissipate, repeating in such a cycle that it sent a chill up the back of his neck.

Huai Shi subconsciously glanced at the saddlebag behind him.

The Sword of Virtue was still tucked away inside.

Should he give her another booster shot? Or not?

As if Luo Xian knew exactly what Huai Shi was thinking, she let out a soft chuckle. ”The same trick won’t work on me twice.”

What kind of Saint are you!

Anyway, he couldn’t beat her, nor could he escape. Besides, Luo Xian had saved him.

If she had wanted to kill him, he would have been a goner long ago.

Huai Shi just wasn’t sure what state Luo Xian was in now. Had she calmed down a bit, as Luo Lao had mentioned? Was she still entangled and troubled by the Abyssal love, unable to live normally?

Luo Xian appeared to be perfectly normal.

Her behavior was usual.

Perhaps it was just his own guilty conscience.

Thinking this, he couldn’t help but sigh, suspecting he might be judging his senior sister by his own flawed standards.

Meanwhile, Luo Xian skillfully tidied up the utensils. She even used a lavish amount of clean water to wash them before putting them away. Huai Shi noticed her backpack seemed to contain only these items.

Apart from that, she really hadn’t brought anything else.

Feeling that familiar sense of defeat once more, Huai Shi couldn’t help but grow even more helpless.

Comparing people to people is disheartening; comparing goods to goods means one gets tossed. Why bother mulling over it, idly comparing his abilities with a true genius?

During the long night, they shared their life experiences from the recent days, and Huai Shi selectively narrated his own death-defying exploits along the way.
