Chapter 520: Chapter 450: Natural Disaster_1

It was as if the Heaven Drum roared to life.

A dull thunder spread from the thundercloud above. Then, the desert shook violently, and countless grains of sand flew up from the ground, dancing restlessly.

In the unbearable, stifling heat, stars and Moonlight were quickly covered by the thunderclouds.

Terrifying lightning bolts kept emerging from the endless black clouds that slowly pressed lower.

When the first drop of cool rain, soaked with radioactive dust, fell from the sky, Huai Shi finally heard a high-pitched sound that seemed to tear the entire world apart.

「The wind had started.」

It began like the slow, massive movement of thick glue flowing. Soon after, as the wind speed climbed insanely, the remnants of the city suspended in the sky started to shake frantically, like wind chimes gone mad.

Rusted steel grated, sparks flew, and a piercing screech accompanied the dull thuds of collapsing buildings.

Under the cover of the raging wind, the entire ruin seemed to be tossed into a washing machine, convulsing wildly.

Countless pieces of debris flew out, falling from the sky onto the wildly dancing sands, landing right where Huai Shi had just been standing.

At this moment, Huai Shi, having finally reacted the instant Raven screamed, did not hesitate to hoist his pack and take off running. He ran like a headless fly, his back to the howling wind. He exerted all his strength, disregarding the fatigue accumulated from a night of trekking, leaping through the sand like a phantom.

The raging wind swept up from behind him, bringing with it suffocating pressure, almost lifting Huai Shi off the ground.

Then, a flash of bright light burst in the dark Sky Dome.

Huai Shi’s scalp prickled instantly.

A sharp bolt of lightning struck from the sky, slicing directly into a sand dune beside Huai Shi. Amidst the spreading static field, countless charred particles of sand and viscous molten silicates splashed around.

Then, he was involuntarily lifted into the air as a large rock, appearing from nowhere, whistled past, grazing his back.

Like a shell fired from a cannon.

The rock instantly tore through his backpack, then detonated the gas stove, before crushing the retracted tent and miscellaneous items into smithereens. After reducing the backpack to scraps, it roared away.

The impact nearly killed Huai Shi.

In mid-air, Huai Shi’s vision darkened, and he vomited blood violently. He fell to the ground like a broken doll. Without a moment to catch his breath, he scrambled up and resumed his frenetic sprint.

Luckily, he had stuffed all the important items into his saddlebag and hadn’t taken them out; otherwise, he would have certainly been dead this time.

And as he ran for his life, the Geiger counter began to emit a sharp warning buzz.

From the black clouds covering the entire sky, endless rain began to fall, instantly obscuring everything in sight.

The heavy curtain of rain, carrying radiation, wildly swirled in the storm. Occasionally, it was torn apart and pierced through by giant rocks flying from afar.

The thick moisture was almost suffocating Huai Shi. Even worse, he found the desert beneath his feet rapidly turning into a quagmire, making it difficult to trudge through.

He was almost unable to move any further.

Lightning bolts streaked down from the clouds like knives descending from heaven, severing everything in their path, briefly illuminating the world that was about to be submerged.

They also illuminated the end of the desert: a wall of water, like a towering black rampart, rolling towards him—the roaring flood!

The world thundered!

It’s all over, Huai Shi thought, his face turning pale. He feared he was truly doomed this time.

”The pack! Your saddlebag!” Raven burst out of his collar, shouting loudly, ”Would you just use your equipment, Fool!”

Huai Shi froze. Then, ecstasy washed over him as he glanced down at his saddlebag.

The Survival Pack of the Wise!

He still had one crucial opportunity he hadn’t used, hadn’t he?

Instead of desperately grasping at straws, he forced himself to calm down and think.

What did he need most right now?

Definitely not an umbrella! What I need is something that can quickly get me out of here, an escape tool to speed me up so I won’t be swept away by the flood!

The moment he understood, Huai Shi reached into his saddlebag’s inner pocket and grabbed a handle. ”It’s you, Pikachu!”

The next instant, as he pulled his hand out, something compressed in a slender pouch was yanked from the saddlebag.

It looked like a small backpack, but aside from a few straps for fastening, there were also two rope-connected handles that puzzled him.

But he had no more time to hesitate.

He felt the ground shaking madly, the muddy desert under his feet trembling, and the ferocious flood coursing brutally from a distance, about to engulf everything.

With the greatest speed he could muster, he slung the new pack onto his back and buckled all the safety straps.

Then, he pulled the handles with all his might.

POP.

With the explosion of gunpowder in the compressed pack, the item within shot out, instantly expanding and inflating in the fierce wind.

In a blink, it rose swiftly above Huai Shi’s head.

The vast canopy, filled by the gale, rapidly ascended.

Like a radish being plucked from the earth, it yanked Huai Shi from the ground, sending him involuntarily soaring into the sky.

By the time Huai Shi realized what was happening, he was already hundreds of meters above the ground.

The black clouds, thick as iron, loomed just above his head.
