Chapter 490: Chapter 427 Start_1

At this moment, the inside of the Rotting Dream, long forgotten by all, was rapidly collapsing. The nightmare was shrinking, being devoured completely. The Rotten Dream Queen kept emitting tragic cries, most of her shell swiftly melting amidst the entanglement of the Remaining Evils of the World. Yet within the dreamland... there were still little devils unleashing their Gluttony, devouring greedily, just like indulging in an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Huai Shi kept stuffing the monsters—condensed from Source Substance inside the Rotten Dream—into his mouth, chewing them with a loud CRUNCH.

The body he currently possessed was a Phenomenal Record, remade by the Astronomical Society after being specially modified to counter the Rotten Dream. In essence, he was no different from Beelzebub, except he was much more capable of eating. After passing the verification of the Witch’s Night, he had been wildly modified by those Creators from the Existence Institute and the technical department. It could be said that if the enemy this time had only been the Rotten Dream, then Huai Shi, the tool, could have restrained over forty percent of her energy.

But now, due to a twist of fate, the severely damaged Rotten Dream had no power to resist the consumption by the Remaining Evils of the World...

After devouring nearly all the monsters inside the Rotting Dream, Huai Shi’s body had grown so large that this dreamland could hardly contain him. However, the foundation of this power was built within the Rotting Dream. Once he detached from it, he would probably be instantly restored to his original form.

Huai Shi had no objections to this. Using an alt account with the booster provided by the Astronomical Society and having a blast was already a satisfactory return; what more could he ask for?

When he came to his senses, besides the roaring construction noise, the only thing left in the dreamland was Beelzebub’s clamorous singing blaring from loudspeakers.

”Who is it? Who is it? Who is it?”

”It’s the tool! The tool! The tool!”

”Bearing the name of ’Second fifth’~ The man who gave up everything to fight...”

Accompanied by the scorching electric glare of a welding torch, Beelzebub, wearing protective goggles, belted out excitedly, ”Gathering all ’Second fifths’ into one, the hero of justice, ’Second fifth’!”

Hey! Never mind what on earth is up with those terrible lyrics, why did the hero suddenly change from ’tool’ to ’Second fifth’? Isn’t there something not quite right here?!

”Could it not be you?” Beelzebub retorted. ”Holding the Book of Fate, lying low within the Jurisdiction Bureau—what genius creativity! Who could have thought the future Owner of the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy would be lazing around in the Jurisdiction Bureau? Honestly, I adore this idea. The more brilliant you appear now, the less likely everyone will associate you with Utopia...”

”...No, I just occasionally do some part-time jobs, and it’s also to make a living,” Huai Shi replied, scratching his head. He wondered for a long time how to prove to Beelzebub that his main development goal was actually to become a cello performer...

Why had his own style been perfectly fine at the start, only to turn into this sorry state?

Amidst the piercing roars, a giant steel plate was hoisted by a crane. Under the flame of the welding torch, it was used to patch the colossal crack on Osiris’s chest. A patch was applied. It had to be said, Beelzebub’s craftsmanship was utterly hideous. Incredibly unsightly.

This was the deepest layer of the Rotting Dream, the place where the Group Star’s dreamland once dwelled—the last traces Auden had left before his death. After most of the fragments fell into the Abyss, these were the final remnants of Osiris.

”You better not hold out too much hope.” Beelzebub removed his welding mask regretfully and sighed softly, ”What’s left here are only fragments of the Stigma. All the physically enhanced external armor and accompanying weapon systems are almost entirely gone.”

In the Road of Eternity of the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy, all Stigmas can manifest in this world in tangible forms. If one advances to Horus during the Fifth Stage, what is constructed is the everlasting fortress of Deep Space. If Osiris is chosen, then what manifests is the adjudicating Giant of the Underworld. But Stigmas are often just the foundation; much more requires material for supplementation and enhancement.

In other words, it requires hefty investments.

The Underworld Giant before Huai Shi could now be considered completely paralyzed. Not only had the +15 god-tier equipment, meticulously built by Utopia with huge investments, been completely scattered, but its power systems and external frame also had serious issues. Now, under Beelzebub’s rough maintenance... the problem seemed even more severe. It was a solution that addressed the symptoms, not the cause.

For this crude, temporary purpose, destructive repair methods were used to hastily patch it up. It had been in deep sleep for too long. Now, even if reawakened, it could hardly be of much use. It would be better to simply rob Peter to pay Paul, allowing it to finish its last mile with dignity.

As Osiris’s former radar controller, central intelligence, and even affiliated Maintenance Craftsman, Beelzebub found these tasks flowing with supreme smoothness. Even with only a temporary toolkit available, his efficiency was still astonishing. This was his original duty; it was something only he should complete.

Like performing surgery, he treated his former master with cold precision: prying open the shell, removing bullets, dismantling the skeleton, reconnecting cables. He dismantled the core and cleared the circuits once more. He sealed the breaches, restoring its body to completeness.

It was as if he had been preparing for this for many, many years; when he truly began the work, his movements were swift and rapid.
