Apocalypse Forecast

Huai Shi nodded, interpreted the situation in his own peculiar way, and suddenly realized, ”I understand!”

The engineer, who was climbing the high tower on his back, nearly slipped and fell off. Unable to catch his breath, his normally green goblin face turned red with strain.

You damned creature, what have you understood this time!

But before he could respond, a piercing alarm sounded from above the sky dome, and the pale lights of the steel satellites instantly turned blood red.

Amid the sharp air raid alarms, urgent calls for evacuation rose from all over the city.

In other places, such a hasty warning would surely cause unbelievable chaos, right? But within the Steel City, everyone seemed to interlock like layers of gears, moving with orderly speed, filled with a mechanical sense of beauty.

For an Explorer, the tribe they have developed is no different from their own hands, eyes, and feet. No matter where or in what state, the tribe will unconditionally obey every command of its chief, no matter how cruel, heartless, or contrary to nature those commands may be.

Under the direction of the Central Control Room, all members, in orderly batches, proceeded to their transportation, took elevators, or walked to shelters and war fortifications.

Ready for battle.

”It’s coming.”

The Six Winged Phoenix suddenly spread its wings and took flight. Suspended high in the sky, it emitted a radiance that filled the world—in an instant, an ephemeral sun appeared, illuminating every inch of land and darkness, revealing the ash tide sweeping in from afar.

The expectation was that it would be the sea, with gray-black water slowly flooding in, but what was seen was entirely different from what Huai Shi had imagined.

The ground trembled and roared; the thunderous advance of trillions of Erosion species galloping became the sound of a tidal wave.

But it didn’t look like seawater; instead, it seemed to roll across the ground like a rapidly growing mat of fungi, seemingly slow but actually swift, as fast as thunder.

Looking far into the distance, there was no end in sight.

All one could see were the massive silhouettes slowly emerging from within the depths of the ash tide, along with wildly thrashing limbs.

Countless blood-red eyes, like bubbles on the sea or the patterned caps of fungi after rain, continuously surfaced from this abyssal tide.

Each Erosion species, big or small, was emaciated from the torment of hunger and desolation, looking as though they might collapse on the spot.

But now, their pupils gleamed with frenzy; countless crimson eyes converging, making Huai Shi shiver involuntarily.

He finally understood what it felt like to be an enemy of all Hell.

Too bad there’s no one to thank for the invitation...

”Wait a second.”

The Phoenix’s deep voice rang in the ears of each Giant Beast, suppressing the ferocity deep in their veins. He said, ”Just wait a little longer.”

Huai Shi took a deep breath. Terrible heat burst forth from the gaps beneath his armor, instantly turning him into a furnace in the darkness.

Steel-blue flames continuously emerged from his mouth and nose, spewing forth.

The low voice of the Phoenix continued, echoing between heaven and earth, overshadowing the dreadful roar of the tide from afar.

”Don’t be hasty; the time hasn’t come yet,” he said. ”So wait.”

Even as the ground thundered and the gray tide encroached within a hundred miles.

From high above, the vast Steel City looked insignificantly small, like a speck of dust, while the gray tide, stretching endlessly from all sides, advanced. The acute sense of crisis brought on by such a disparity left all the Giant Beasts teetering on the edge of madness.

Their eyes blazed to life, radiating intense light.

”Just wait a little longer.”

The Phoenix’s body was haloed with a sun-like golden radiance, sternly containing the boundless firelight within his form—a cruel power born from the essence of thermodynamics.

As the gray tide drew near, crossing into ten kilometers in an instant, a sharp sound like roaring steel burst forth from the deepest parts of the city.

A signal from the Central Control Room.

Delivered in the simplest, most straightforward, and decisive way.

The roar of cannons thundered!

The overture of war was heralded in that instant—no words were needed to spur them on. The Giant Beasts’ roars burst forth from the earth, splitting the sound of the tides, transforming into thunder that shot into the sky!

Faster than everyone else was the Phoenix, unfolding his six wings.

At this moment, the giant bird—who on ordinary days seemed indistinguishable from other members—now perched at the very apex of the sky.

As if seated on his own throne, sixteen golden Halos of the Sun emerged from around him, the power from the essence of thermodynamics shooting out from between his unfolded wings.

The fierce light spread instantaneously in all directions, covering everything within hundreds of miles.

Following that, violent heat erupted from within the light, instantly turning all invaders to ashes.

It was as if a high-temperature blowtorch had burned away a trivial strand of hair, not even leaving behind ashes.

With the earth cracking, the soil also burned and melted into fiery red magma, flowing everywhere.

The long-absent sun had once again descended upon this Hell. But this time, it didn’t bestow the loving warmth that encouraged all things to grow; instead, it brought a terrifying catastrophe of light that incinerated everything.

Without any need for others to act, and under his exquisite control, the rampaging, terrible heat did not harm a single ally.

The brilliance flared and then receded.

Suddenly, darkness enveloped the world once more.

After a brief setback, the endless ash tide paused only for a moment before sweeping forward again.

Thus, the Halo of the Sun unfolded once more.

The destructive flame swept around, cleanly bringing destruction once again before retracting back into the Halo of the Sun.

As the ash tide advanced and penetrated deeper, the Halo of the Sun unfolded again—

That violent and tremendous power seemed endless. Not only the Owner of the Great Mob hidden within the ash tide but even the allies were left dumbstruck.

”What kind of move is this?” Taurus, dumbfounded, exclaimed, ”You just tell others to wait, but you keep racking up kills yourself! What kind of pond pest is this?!”

After this happened ten times, the scything blaze swept back and forth across the earth, completely turning the land within a thousand miles into a scorching hell of rampant lava.

At this moment, the Phoenix still hung high above the Steel City, shedding light, illuminating the entire battlefield, and continuously replenishing the lava with heat.

But that Terrible Power, capable of thoroughly plundering and scouring, did not appear again.

It seemed to have reached its limit, yet, paradoxically, it also hadn’t.

No one could glimpse any clues from his inscrutable eyes. He was merely dispersing the most basic heat, sustaining this region of lava hell spanning a thousand miles. That alone was enough.

Within the endless ash tide, over sixty percent were dying, weakened Erosion species incapable of withstanding the heat from the Phoenix. Merely by entering the area, they ignited and burned to ashes, becoming Hell’s firewood instead.

That is to say, his very existence alone staunchly held off sixty percent of the countless Erosion species at this very moment!

”The rest is up to you now,” the Phoenix’s tranquil voice resonated in every Explorer’s ear. ”I will support you at any time.”

At this moment, his calm and deep voice gave everyone boundless confidence, as if they truly had the sun at their backs, rousing their fighting spirit!

But faster than their words was the unleashed wild dog!

Amidst the sudden, erupting roar from the earth, hurricanes howled, sweeping up magma tides as high as buildings. Treading on flames with its four feet, Behemoth had already charged out, excitedly howling to the sky, ”—I want to eat hot dogs!!!”
