Chapter 344: Chapter 297 Friends_1

Sitting in the chair for less than half an hour, Huai Shi got drunk and thumped onto the table.

He fell into a deep sleep.

Then, he had a dream.

In the dream, there was a distant and melodious cello sound.

It seemed like he was back to his childhood when he and other children frolicked in the courtyard, chasing and roughhousing. When he turned his head, he saw the teacher leaning against the door smiling, waving to them.

She took out a handkerchief to wipe the snot and stains off Huai Shi’s face.

The afternoon sunlight sprinkled on the teacher’s long hair, casting a fleeting golden glow. It softened and blurred her smile.

Huai Shi couldn’t see her face clearly. All his attention was on the girl sitting alone in the piano room behind the teacher. His cheeks reddened.

The teacher bent down, pinched his face, and asked something.

So he lifted his head, puffed up his chest, and replied loudly,

”I... I want to be friends with Little Qing Jiejie!”

The teacher then laughed aloud.

Taking his hand, they walked towards the lonely girl.

The sound of the cello abruptly stopped, and the fragments of memory suddenly ceased.

Huai Shi opened his eyes, climbed back up from the table, and stared blankly at everything in front of him.

The dream from just moments ago rapidly vanished from his memory. He couldn’t recall the details, yet he felt a sense of absurdity. It was like a fairy tale, that warm hue so lavish in his memories of childhood that it seemed almost unreal.

Was it an exaggeration of the subconscious, or just pure fantasy?

He didn’t know.

It took a long while before he somewhat sobered up from the drunken stupor and the confusion of awakening. He turned to look at Liu DongLi by his side, and finally, his gaze settled on the glass before him.

His expression was doubtful. ”What kind of alcohol is this?” I only had a few sips and already passed out?

”Oh, you woke up pretty quickly,” Liu DongLi clicked his tongue in wonder. ”That’s the Special Life Water produced by the Russian Federation Genealogy. They say even stones would turn to mud after drinking it. You passed out just for a little while?”

Huai Shi picked up the glass and sniffed it, finally detecting the nearly poisonous smell of alcohol hidden beneath the mix of the drink. His face immediately contorted in disgust.

After disdainfully pouring out the glass of alcohol, he waved for a juice and continued to daydream.

”Right, where were we? Oh, yes, Shambhala...”

Liu DongLi, with a cigarette in his mouth, was enthusiastic, continuing animatedly, ”Shambhala is a great place! The climate is suitable, the scenery is beautiful, and the cosmetic technology is top-notch. They have the world’s best hot springs and the world’s best SPA. It’s been selected as the most suitable Border for therapy for three consecutive years!”

Huai Shi held his throbbing forehead and could hardly hear clearly. The words seemed to go in one ear and out the other. He couldn’t figure out what on earth Shambhala was, but he didn’t want to let Old Liu ramble alone, so he asked perfunctorily,

”Which country’s territory?”

”Public sovereignty Border. Most Borders are like this now. They are developed and jointly managed by several local Genealogies or consortia, forming a committee... Well, that’s getting off-topic. Although not known as the capital of gastronomy, there are over a dozen Hunger’s Mouth-rated restaurants there, and the wine is not bad. Last time I went, I even grew several more hairs.”

Speaking of this, Old Liu became quite animated and even parted his hair to show Huai Shi his receding hairline, a testament to his efforts to fight against Fate.

”...”

Huai Shi’s face twitched, and he awkwardly smiled. ”Sounds amazing.”

”And there are beautiful girls, you know?” Old Liu took out his collection to show him the photos he had taken. ”All kinds of them! Enthusiastic and unrestrained American girls, resilient and strong Russian Federation Sisters, demure Yingzhou Maidens, and even many noblewomen from Egypt!”

Old Liu, the bastard, may be a bit of a player, but his photography skills are pretty good.

The sight made Huai Shi’s eyes pop, and he gasped in awe.

”SSS! Impressive!”

”You think that’s all?” Liu DongLi smiled mysteriously. Picking up a travel brochure, he flipped through it quickly and said, ”Sixteen workshops have collaboratively opened chain stores, and there’s also the Metatron Cube’s offline store, with every conceivable weapon available... But most importantly, there’s the exhibition of Cavendish’s giant War Robots!”

Saying this, he flipped directly to the last page, showing Huai Shi the huge promotional poster on the double-page spread. On it was an enormous humanoid robot, wielding a sword, its eyes gleaming gold.

”WOW, WOW, WOW!!!” Huai Shi’s whole face lit up with excitement, his eyes wide open.

Still not satisfied, Old Liu raised his voice, ”Aside from the six new types of jetpacks and weapon gear, the most important part is they will select one lucky tourist to offer a piloting service!”

What kind of place is this! Heaven?

Huai Shi felt his nosebleed was on the verge of breaking free, and he longed to leap into that promotional poster.

”How about it?” Liu DongLi closed the travel brochure, smiling cryptically. ”I happen to have one high-end travel custom ticket here. Want to join?”

”Forget it,” Huai Shi sighed.

”Why not!” Liu DongLi’s eyes widened. ”Are you crazy? They have giant robots! And you can drive one! Are you even a man?”

”There are hot springs, SPAs, beautiful girls, giant robots...but what does any of that have to do with me? I just want to go back to Xinhai, go home, and sleep...”
