Chapter 154: Chapter 144 Choice_2

”But this time, it won’t happen.” Ai Qing gazed at him, telling him decisively, ”Wherever I am, it definitely will not occur.”

”I’m looking forward to it.”

KP smiled. He rolled the dice in his hand. The game continued.

「. . .」

Lily’s medicine was effective. At least the heavy dose of sedatives it contained worked.

Huai Shi could now barely restrain the surging murderous intent inside his heart to engage in some feeble activities, much like a long-bedridden patient walking around the cramped cabin, performing some rehabilitative exercises.

Actually, it was unnecessary. As long as there was enough blood, a Vampire could quickly recover to full health, and for Lily, producing artificial Plasma was effortless. It even had an apple flavor. As for effectiveness, though not as good as the real thing, it was at least better than nothing.

Huai Shi had regained sixty percent of his health.

But with his chaotic thoughts and the uncontrollable murderous intent in his heart, he didn’t know how to face Lily. After an initial expression of thanks, he stopped talking and just sat in a corner by himself, drawing and writing in the Book of Fate with a pen, trying to organize his thoughts.

However, he quickly discovered this did nothing to alleviate the frustration and restlessness in his heart.

Besides, there was something else he didn’t tell Ai Qing. He had discovered that the Believer’s Stigma... was extremely similar to the Yin Soul.

No, if I consider the timeline, part of the Yin Soul’s core came from ’Believers’... it’s just that the two were complete opposites. The former generously shared this blessing by infusing pure Source Substance with devout sincerity, while I... I’m a Negative Energy Producer. And now I’ve turned into a Vampire, a negative energy absorber. It’s like I’m determined to walk this path into the Abyss until the very end...

So, just what kind of ramshackle vehicle is the Yin Soul Stigma that Raven cobbled together with who knows how many spare parts? No, I should be asking, apart from the Believer’s Stigma, how many other miracles and elements of the Abyss Genealogy are entangled? How deep do the waters of the Abyss Genealogy truly run?

By now, I’m no longer that naive kid who understood nothing; I at least grasp bits and pieces. In this world, there are no miracles without reason. Real miracles don’t just appear out of nowhere, descend out of the blue, and then vanish just as suddenly. That is to say, no Genealogy appears out of thin air; there must be an origin.

So where does the Abyss Genealogy come from? Or is the Astronomical Society really so capable that they can conjure a non-existent Stigmata Genealogy out of thin air? This is even more terrifying than Paracelsus creating an Artificial Human from nothing. After all, there’s only one Lily, while a Genealogy can endure through the ages, passed on to millions. Each Genealogy could be said to be the foundation within the world axis preserved by a God Spirit. Now, with the deities dead, the Astronomical Society’s act was akin to creating a pantheon from nothing—and what’s more, it received recognition from the world’s axis!

How could this be possible?

The more Huai Shi thought about it, the more he felt something was amiss. He rubbed his eyebrows in frustration, then... he noticed Lily’s cautious gaze from not far away.

As if sensing the restlessness and depression in Huai Shi’s heart, she hadn’t disturbed him. Instead, she was flipping through a dictionary in her hand, thinking she was being very covert while sneakily watching him. Feeling his gaze, her expression froze for a moment before becoming calm, as if nothing had happened.

”AHEM.” She asked, ”Are you busy?”

”No, not really...”

Huai Shi shook his head, not knowing what to say to her.

But she had already come closer, curiously examining the messy text Huai Shi had recorded in the book. After realizing she couldn’t understand it, she looked at the doodles Huai Shi had absently sketched in the corner in his restlessness.

Then she paused.

”Who is this?”

She leaned in closer, looking at the face in the notes that held a mocking and arrogant expression. With just a few simple strokes, it vividly captured that indifferent yet cruel gaze—as if he was about to spit out some vicious words.

It immediately made one feel uneasy.

”Uh...” Huai Shi didn’t know how to explain. Finally, he could only say, ”This... this person is called Fly Brother.”

So, Lily realized, ”Beelzebub, right?”

”...Well, kind of.” Huai Shi wiped the sweat from his forehead. ”He does like making people eat shit.”

”And this black man?” Lily asked next. ”He looks very confused.”

”Yes, he’s very confused.” Huai Shi spontaneously added three question marks to the sketch of the black man’s head.

”What about this?”

”This is a frog, named PEPE.”

”Why does he look so sad?”

”I don’t know,” Huai Shi sighed. ”Probably because being alive is painful.”

”That’s a shame—it looks quite cute,” Lily said regretfully, shaking her head. ”Like a little doll. Hohenheim didn’t like it, though, and he threw away the ones I made myself.”

”Really?”

Huai Shi fell silent for a moment, then shook his head. ”He shouldn’t have done that.”

”Mm, maybe people get bad-tempered when they get old. But after losing his temper, he would regret it and apologize, hoping I would forgive him... but I was never angry with him.”

Lily curled up in her chair and sighed softly. ”He was very panicked before he died, as if he was avoiding something, but he never told me. After giving me this ship ticket, he passed away... To the end, he wouldn’t even allow me to call him ’Father’.”
