Alchemy Master

Chapter 1125, I Hear You’re Quite Powerful

Several figures strode into the area without warning. The cultivators nearby, without exception, wore expressions of reverence upon their faces.

Qin Yichen, sharp as ever, noted that Xiang Linzi, Li Shan, and the others had initially moved to intervene upon seeing trouble. In the end, however, they remained rooted to the spot.

It was not that they had missed their chance to curry favour with him. Rather, the identities of the newcomers had given them quite a fright.

“And just what, exactly, is the meaning of this?” Qin Yichen’s brow furrowed slightly. He had anticipated that someone would doubt him and step forward to challenge him, yet he had not expected it to happen quite this soon.

Moreover, each and every one of these individuals possessed Spiritual Energy that was anything but weak.

“Sir, look at their cuffs!”

Mei Ler’s voice reached him then, carrying an unusual gravity. His brow creased just a touch more as he cast his gaze over their robes.

Their garments were extraordinary, the sort of material that one glance was enough for other to know that it cost a small fortune. What made Qin Yichen’s eyes narrow, however, was what adorned the sleeves of each and every one of them. It was a golden miniature cauldron etched into the fabric.

“They are from the Medicine Race.” Qin Yichen murmured softly to himself.

The Medicine Race, that peculiar Race coveted by every Race under the Heavens. He was, naturally, well acquainted with them.

Indeed, his previous life’s as an Alchemy Saint had been not entirely unconnected to the Medicine Race. During the period when he had been stuck at the Peak Heaven Grade, he had once encountered a mysterious Elder.

That Elder, too, had been approaching the end of his years. By a remarkable turn of fate, the two had spoken at great length and found themselves in perfect accord. Their conversation had proven enormously beneficial to Qin Yichen, and with one great leap, he had broken through to become an Alchemy Saint.

As for the Elder, Qin Yichen’s singular perspective had resolved a long-standing doubt that had weighed upon the old man’s heart, and he had departed with a great peal of laughter.

“*Hmph!* So, you actually know of our Medicine Race?”

“You know of our people, yet you still dare to come to the Medicine Market peddling nonsense? Are you tired of living?”

From the platform below, several young members of the Medicine Race with Earth Grade Spiritual Energy snorted coldly in unison.

“Who on earth said I was here peddling nonsense?” Qin Yichen’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly. He had a measure of good will towards the Medicine Race in his heart, yet the attitude of these people was truly difficult to swallow.

In truth, this was hardly surprising.

Even the Top Tier Races of the continent treated members of the Medicine Race with the utmost courtesy, and over many generations this had cultivated in them a thoroughly lofty disposition.

That said, their arrogance did come with solid backing.

After all, no Race in existence could rival the foundational depth of the Medicine Race when it came to the Alchemy. Any Race that mattered would go to considerable lengths to recruit capable members of the Medicine Race to assist in refining and developing Pills.

“*Hmph!* Who doesn’t know that each Race possesses a different Physique? To claim that something works universally across all races. If that isn’t peddling nonsense, then what is it?”

“Exactly. And it’s plain to see you’re someone who knows absolutely nothing about Alchemy. You don’t even understand the basic effects of a Pill!”

“Ha! A Pill with three effects? I truly have no idea where you found the nerve to say something like that!?”

The young members of the Medicine Race laughed raucously, a torrent of mockery spilling forth without pause.

Beneath that tide of ridicule, Qin Yichen’s expression gradually grew quite dark.

“It seems that you all have a rather thorough understanding of the Dao of Alchemy.” After a long pause, Qin Yichen suppressed the irritation welling within him and spoke in a measured tone.

“Obviously!”

The young members of the Medicine Race shot him a contemptuous glance, and at the mere mention of Alchemy, their faces filled quite involuntarily with an expression of supreme self-satisfaction.

“Oh…” Watching those faces, so thoroughly saturated with pride, a slow, meaningful smile curled at the corner of Qin Yichen’s mouth.

“Brother Qin, what are you planning?”

“Don’t be rash. Those are members of the Medicine Race!”

Xiang Linzi, Li Shan, and the others felt a distinct unease stirring in their chests at the shift in his expression.

Surely he was not actually thinking of raising his hand against the Medicine Race?

Granted, the Medicine Race possessed exceptionally formidable Spiritual Energy, but in terms of pure combat ability, Qin Yichen, who had already crushed Li Shan utterly, could absolutely flatten these youths without breaking a sweat.

And that was precisely what Li Shan and the others feared most.

Laying hands on members of the Medicine Race was something that had not occurred on the continent for several thousand years, at the very least.

If a fight broke out here, Li Shan and the others were nearly certain that Qin Yichen would never even reach them.

The great throng of cultivators crowding every direction would absolutely not stand by and watch. The moment a blow was struck, no matter how formidable Qin Yichen might be, he would find himself in an exceedingly uncomfortable situation.

As if having caught the shift in Qin Yichen’s expression, the cultivators in the surrounding crowd also allowed a trace of mockery to surface in their eyes. Figures throughout the crowd grew subtly taut, every one of them poised to deliver a thunderous strike the moment Qin Yichen made the slightest move.

As for the young Medicine Race members themselves, their expressions showed no particular change in response to Qin Yichen’s demeanour. They continued to watch him with faces full of arrogant ease, as if it had never once crossed their minds that he might actually dare to lay hands on them.

“Would this Qin happen to have any opportunity to witness the abilities of a few prodigies from the Medicine Race?” Qin Yichen shook his head mildly at Li Shan and the others who were watching him with such concern and smiled as he spoke.

He was, naturally, not foolish enough to resolve matters through brute force. No matter how many trump cards he held, he was not arrogant enough to believe he could carve a bloody path out of this place.

Even if he managed it by some miracle, the Medicine Race and the Myriad Beasts Domain would absolutely pursue him with endless implacable vengeance. He had no desire whatsoever to invite that kind of trouble.

Against the Medicine Race, however, he had a far more elegant solution. Qin Yichen possessed absolute confidence in the Dao of Alchemy. Even within the Medicine Race itself, those who could claim to be a single step above him were a genuinely rare few.

Not to mention, these individuals before him were merely the younger generation of the Medicine Race. If he were being honest with himself, he had not spared them a second thought. If they had not come here to openly mock him, Qin Yichen would not have even bothered to quarrel with them.

“You? You want to witness our abilities?”

“Ha! Ha ha ha…”

Faced with Qin Yichen’s provocation, the young Medicine Race members reacted as though they had heard the funniest thing in the world. They all burst into laughter simultaneously, and a couple of them came rather close to squeezing out actual tears.

“You aren’t all said to be gifted in Spiritual Energy? Why not compare Spiritual Energy with me, then? How does that sound?”

Their disdain rolled off him entirely. Qin Yichen simply continued speaking.

The moment his words landed, the previously cacophonous crowd went suddenly, remarkably quiet.

Comparing Spiritual Energy with the Medicine Race?

How was that any different from seeking death?

Everyone knew that the Medicine Race commanded such universal reverence precisely because of their extraordinary innate talent in Spiritual Energy. Even at equivalent cultivation levels, not a single other Race could match the Medicine Race in this regard.

Furthermore, to challenge the Medicine Race in Spiritual Energy was, to them, quite close to the gravest insult imaginable. It was the one thing one absolutely did not do.

As for any cultivator who had faced a Medicine Race expert in a Spiritual Energy contest and lost, every one of them had had their Divine Sense shattered and been reduced to an utter simpleton.
